I've stopped in for a beer at Crown several times over the past couple years. Their beer has never impressed me, but on the other hand it has never been bad. Just not the full flavored interesting beers I'm used to when visiting a place that makes their own craft beer. Never had a problem with the service at the bar like some of the other reviewers. The gals that have been bartending have always been pleasant and quick to get me another beer. I have had a nice experience at crown, but they need to improve the quality of their beers if they want to be talked about in the same breath as three Floyd's, bells, green bush, half acre, revolution, and our other great regional craft breweries we have in our area. read more

I have not eaten here and cannot talk about the food although it looked very good. They are connected to a restaurant that served pizza and other such stuff. The place is fun and they serve good beer. It seems like the microbreweries are very popular these days and I am a fan of them too. You can taste the beers and decide which one you want and the beers are priced at about 4-5 bucks a pint which seems fair. I think it is one of the better breweries in NW Indiana. read more

Delicious beer! It's so great someone finally brought craft brews to Crown Point. I love that it's attached to Carriage Court. I've been eating their pizzas since I was a kid! HORRIBLE SERVICE- Beer was decent- I think the unattractive, un-attentive, mean looking waitress thought that we came to see her be horrible at her job, mission accomplished. On our first order she brought the wrong beer, then disappeared forever (there are 4-6 tables in the whole bar area). After we had been there for 1/2 hour, we ordered our 2nd beer and she cut off my friend saying he had been over served- He had one beer and had not said one word all night. She said her manager told her to cut him off (come to find out the manager wasn't even there) I think she was overwhelmed by the other table being filled with 2 people and she had to cut down on her workload...terrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible- I will NEVER go back and I will share this experience with everyone I know. read more

I have a soft spot for places like this, a fact that explains my initial enthusiasm for Crown Brewing. But let's face it, this place is just okay in just about every respect. With a few exceptions, the beer is, to quote a good friend, "unobtrusive". Fine. Very drinkable. Even good if you're weaned on the ubiquitous big brands that overflow this part of the country. But really, if you're a brewery, you should do a lot better than "unobtrusive"! The food was much the same. The wings were fine. Not bad. But nothing to really write home about. Getting the wings 'Hot' turned out to be an unwitting demonstration on Carriage Court's part that there should be a lot more to making something spicy than just adding more Tabasco sauce. It was pretty clear to me and my partner that that's all they did in this case. Again, unobtrusive. Nothing they did offended my culinary sensibilities. But nothing they did really impressed me either. And then there's the mild-mannered, even stoic, Neanderthal goon at the bar -- a guy who has no sense for the fact that part of a brewery's mission is to facilitate beer tasting and appreciation. Sure, I understand that you can't be giving out samples of your really expensive beer to everyone who enters the bar. But when we've already ordered the sampler flight, when the menu says that the flight includes "6 beers of your choosing," when we've ordered meals for two and sat there for an hour, when it's not crowded or busy, when we've got a drive ahead of us and we clearly want to sample beer without drinking too much, when we're willing to pay for a sample but just don't want to drink a full serving of your highest-octane selection, and THEN you tell me that the Imperial Stout (the particular beer in which I had the most interest) isn't available for tasting, well, you're a rule-bound, inflexible fool with no sense for context, culture or decorum. read more

We recently stopped in for a flight and a growler fill. I loved the quant atmosphere. The bartender was super sweet and she was very helpful in making our beer selections. My favorite was Special Forces. I can't wait to go back and enjoy their patio! I also want to try the food from Carriage Court, next door. The food smelled amazing. read more

Beer is good but service is terrible. There are good breweries popping up all over the place. Quite honestly you can get a good beer anywhere, bad service wont get repeat customers. Ordered our food at 7:30 (crispy chicken sandwiches), 8:30 rolls around and still nothing as we watched other tables around us who got there after us get their food. Asked the bartender about it and his response was, "there are 30 things before you. It sucks." We totally understand if kitchen is busy, but its a deep fried sandwich that shouldnt take an hour. We would also totally understand if he would just say, "Im sorry, i forgot to put in your food order" which is what we suspect happened, but the sorry about your luck attitude wasnt necessary and we wont be back. This place has the worst service you could think possible. We waited an hour and a half for 20 wings. When they finally arrived at our table they were rock hard and stone cold. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to this place. That's how bad it is. The current owner is really letting this place go down hill by hiring rude staff and letting the kitchen get dirty and gross. Stopped in Crown Brewing after Illiana Mayfest and decided to grab some dinner. We were seated in a corner booth and ready to get our eat on. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza and was so excited. I was super hungry and thought it would hit the spot. I was so disappointed when my pizza arrived. It tasted like mayonnaise. One ingredient that is not in a bbq chicken pizza. I was so hungry I made myself eat two slices, but wasn't happy. And to top it all off, the service wasn't too great. Sadly, I doubt I will ever go back. read more

It was a rainy evening so we definitely were unable to enjoy some beer al fresco. This was our first time here so we were not quite sure what to expect. You walk into the pizzeria if you enter through the main front door. You have the option of sitting in their dining area, otherwise you can continue walking towards the back of the restaurant and you'll find yourself in the actual brewery/bar. There were several people at the brewery that night. I wouldn't describe it as busy. After about waiting 10 minutes at one of the tables, we weren't sure if we were to expect wait service or if we had to go up to the bar ourselves. The bartender finally came by apologizing that they were having a very busy night (Dark Lord Day weekend). Ok fine, whatever. We asked to try their beer flight. Seven generous glasses of all 7 beers were brought to us. Only 9 dollars! We were starving too so she brought us the restaurant menu. Pizza, salads, sandwiches, wings, nothing too exciting. We must have waited almost 30 minutes and she never came back to see what beer we decided to go with and or what we wanted to eat. Although she was friendly, it seemed like she was more interested in entertaining the people or her friends sitting at the bar. We had enough at that point and decided to move on and get a nice dinner at Lucrezia's. Service was not great but the beer is definitely worth coming back for. As the name implies they brew their own beer here. I have tried several and they taste much better then most bottled beer. Pizza here is decent. Best part is the outdoor dining area during the summer. They offer carry out beer in big jars kind of like old school moonshine bottles. If you love beer try this place and do the carry out. So I was in a group of 4 and we went on a barely busy, cold rainy Saturday and we had a terribly inattentive waitress. She never came to ask how anything was at any point until we were completely done and I saw her walk by multiple times but never stopped over. The appetizers were cold and very salty, the entrees were on very hot plates but the food wasn't hot. It's like they purposely heated up the plates and put food on them to seem like it was fresh but it wasn't! On top of this poor service, we waited SO LONG for literally everything we ordered. Our entrees took over 40 minutes from order to table. We couldn't stop complaining amongst ourselves throughout the meal. We came in very hungry and service was unbearable. The only good thing I can say is we all had flights and the beers were okay. Go for the beer, expect shite service. read more

I stop by here every time I'm in NW Indiana. They make some really good beers. I enjoy their dark beers, especially the Industrial Porter. The IPA is pretty good also. I like that they sell beer in various sizes that way you can sample a larger selection. They make several seasonal beers I tend to like the winter beers the best. read more

What a huge disappointment!!! Where to start. Pulled pork sandwich was delivered to the table and it was filled with bones and grizzle. GFS has better Italian beef than we had. I will admit that the French fries were tasty - hence the one star. Service was terrible. Only one sever and she cares more about taking care of the walk-ins who needed their growlers filled then the patrons waiting. She did not know the menu well either. They are a brewery and do brew their own beer. I was not impressed with the selection that they had as they were out of most. They do sell Pabst Blue Ribbon.....which sums up my experience.
