I love coming here on the weekends in summer from 2-5. It is so peaceful with the music and ambiance. There is always a good guitar player and singer. I usually get a wine flight. The standout was Ravat 51. It was a little sweet but not too much at all. I normally go on the dry side but this was the best! We got cheese and chilled on the patio. A perfect summer day! read more

This winery location was our second stop of the day on my winery tour. I really like this spot as well and they had the name Anderson so I was like anything named Anderson like myself has to be amazing. It was a live leader crowd and we enjoyed it along with live music. This guy was amazing. He did some Michael Jackson. He did some country. He did some other well-known songs and it was a pleasant surprise. He had an amazing voice. I wish I could have called his name. For tastings were included and my favorite was the fuzzy peach. It was amazing and I had to save it to the last. And also I enjoyed the chocolate raspberry. That one was good. I think far as the tasting goals, the wines here tasted the best. It was really crowded so customer service I think could have been a little bit better here. But I understand it was kind of crowded so you really couldn't get a personal experience with the way staff because they were so busy. But it was okay again. I was my favorite out of the three wineries that we visited and we were having so much fun on our tour that one of the patrons flagged us down n the parking lot wanted to come on the tour with us. read more

Lovely winery! My wife and I just stopped in. We've been in the area a few months now and finally had a chance to stop in. We enjoyed a very nice spontaneous winter afternoon date. We each had a wine sampler and ended up choosing the same 4 reds. The cab options were both very good and we really enjoyed the Raspberry Kiss even though we don't generally like really sweet wines. We also shared the mustard sample appetizer with pita chips and pretzels. The gentleman working was very knowledgeable and personable. We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed fireside seating by the wood burning stove the staff had just got going. There is live music on the weekends and comedy shows starting in January. I really like this spot! This is a off the beaten path gem with plenty of local ambience. I love the outside patio area, it's very spacious and airy. They have a stage set up and have live music. Oh and the wines were good. I enjoyed my set of flights and even bought glasses and mugs to go. I'm not sure I would recommend the food though. It really wasn't that great to me. I had a veggie flatbread with hummus and it wasn't that good. It would be my suggestion to make sure you have a good meal before you come. There are some restaurants nearby to hit before getting to the winery. Stopping here would be a nice wind down to the evening. Would definitely go back. read more

Unfortunately, my experience was not great at all. There wine slushies were not available due to being one machine being open and froze over. My nachos had a hair in it and I had to wait in a very long line just to order my drinks. They don't have waitresses or waiter service so that was a disappointment. don't see myself returning. read more

My Chicago people, this winery is approximately 66 miles or so from Chicago, which only takes about an hour to 75 minutes in driving time. Nearby to this one is maybe three other wineries, it's worth a trip if your adventurous. Plus, don't be so quick to judge this area of Indiana, there is a lot of heart out here. First off, let's get passed the fact that this is Indiana and not California. DUH. Hey, Indiana-ites are trying and they have a few wineries in this territory to sample. Anderson winery has a number of wines which to my taste are mostly sweet wines, but not sweet like a late harvest or Welch's. They also carry some flavors that may appeal to the typical wine connoisseur and those that prefer a sharply sour taste (Blueberry - made from Indiana blueberries). Wine by the bottle runs for around $9.99 - $13.99 and then they carry a few higher ends like the Red estate a Merlot style for $15.99, Million bubbles millennium the 2000 Gold medal winner for sparkling wine $ 18.99 and a Porter County port $24.99. The winery offers free tours and if you do a group outing they can prepare the food (many food favorites are available) or you can have a picnic on their grounds. Check the website for more information. They also offer wagon rides, cellar tours, discussing wine making and have a country store with home made fudge, jams & jellies, bakery items and more. The market store is like any country market with its wood enthusiastic décor, chocked full of wine making kits and accessories, food stuffs, wine and all of the above mentioned. There is a wine sampling area where you can sit and enjoy a full glass of your choice, I think for purchase since tastings were served to us in "Sunday communion" type of cups. Ugh right? It was different. The website shows tastings in glasses, so I wonder if its a seasonal thing. When I made the communion reference to our host, she replied that many local churches come to them for their communion wine. I'm not sure how many wines we tasted; both of our hosts were sweet to talk to us and share about the winery. I had a sweet wine buzz working when our host suggested we try their sweetest, Orchard Cherry with a sample of their house made fudge. Sweet damn. Two bottles sold and a pound of fudge to compliment. Left with eight bottles and a nice bulk discount. Maybe when you go they may still have the bulk discount in place. Better hurry the season is changing. read more

Interior smells strongly of mold. It kind of hits you the the face when you walk in. The manager is not very friendly and becomes visibly distressed when there is a crowd and is smug and off putting. Their pos system goes down regularly so they have issues taking payments and communicating food orders. The wines are ok..nothing special. They bottle their own wine but do not produce any grapes. The staff seems somewhat knowledgeable about their wines. The website is deceptive because it indicates a working vineyard and shows photos of beautiful grounds. When you get there you notice that the vineyard is heavily distressed and mostly dead. Weeds everywhere, asphalt patio needs some cleaning and weed removal. read more

I had a 2.5 hour commute each way to work last week and decided to reward myself with a stop here on the way home. I was on 80 (Tollway) and got a little turned around. I think the signage is better on 94. Its very possible I was just tired and missed a sign though. I was there at a really odd time in the middle of the day and had the store all to myself. I believe the girls name that helped me may have been Jen? She was really sweet. I enjoyed talking with her during my tasting. I'm typically a dry red person. I very rarely drink sweet wine these days. I'm always open to trying though and I'm glad I did. I didn't honestly care for any of the dry wines here. I wasn't able to find a red I enjoyed either. I found several sweet whites that I actually loved though. I picked up a bottle of Riesling (semi-sweet), Rhubarb, and a Ravat. These are all perfect for Summer. She even gave me some tips on adding fresh lime to the Ravat since I love lime. That may be my signature Summer drink to serve the girls this year. The store has lots of goodies. Homemade fudge, cute gifts and several things I didn't even get around to looking at this day. They host paint parties with wine and have all kinds of live music and festivals. I'm going to be keeping an eye online to see when I'm heading back. read more

My boyfriend and I and our friend went here for Sweetie's Day (by the way, I had no idea what the hell Sweetie's Day was until I moved to Chicago from DC, we just have regular ol' Valentine's Day there). Anyway, the lady gave us REALLY REALLY good directions to get there and got there in about an hour and 40 mins. The wine was great and the prices were even better. We bought sixteen bottles in total and we will be sure to go back! Their fudge is KILLER and the No Name Red is by far my favorite and if you want a sweet grape-y wine get the concord (it's fantastic when it's chilled slightly). The service was out of this world. And there is fresh delicious popcorn to clear your palate while you're tasting (you may think popcorn is strange, but it actually works great)! Anderson's also had fresh farm apples which I can't even describe how delicious they were. They also have a HUGE assortment of gourmet cheese to choose from and a table where you can sit down and have cheese and wine for an intimate lunch. My boyfriend and I and our friend had a fantastic time! We left with two boxes of wine, fudge, apples and doughnuts! We will most certainly be back for more. It's worth the trip. We decided to check this place out after our visit to a nearby apple orchard. I have to say we were very disappointed. The service we received at the wine tasting bar was short and rude at best. They didn't even rinse out our glasses when switching from a red to a white. But the worst part was that we felt we were drinking weeks old grape juice or prison hooch. How they can classify themselves as a winery is beyond me. SKIP THE TRIP and go to Butler Winery. They were truly fabulous. read more

We had our son's and daughter-in-law's small brunch wedding at Anderson's. Denna as well as her crew of hard workers made it a perfect morning! There were about 40 guests (and one well behaved bulldog!) The bride and groom had to pull it all together in just a few months and Denna worked well within their budget and helped with suggestions on food, drinks and a photographer too. It was on a beautiful Friday morning. The weather was perfect. The venue is so sweet and the food and mimosas were yummy! A good time was had by all. I have driven past this place dozens of times and it was time to stop yesterday. My daughter and I did a flight and the bartender explained each wine and was very patient and pleasant. Most of the wines I chose were to my liking and ranged in prices of $18-32 per bottle. They also offer a small menu of bar food that consisted of mostly flat breads of cheese boards. Anderson Winery is under new ownership and the changes in the last 4 months are dramatic. I was there last night and there was live music, a delicious meatball sub plate, and melt in your mouth lemon bars. The biggest hit is the new wine slushee machine. They still sell local honey and have added cheese and snacks for sale. There are cute candles and gift items, too. The place has been cleaned up -a lot! The outdoors space is nice and would make a great place to host a party, bridal shower, or even a small wedding. If you haven't been there for a while it is worth another look. read more

Cannot begin to express my disappointment in the $1800 bridal shower I held there. The owner Denna was not only completely unprepared and did NO set up (my guests had to run around and set up the outside venue. We were soaked with sweat before we even began) but when I told her I didn't expect to be soaked with sweat having to do the setting up, she replied, "Neither did I." My event started at 11 and at 10 minutes to 11 with NOTHING SET UP, she told me I was "over reacting, the event doesn't start yet." At 10 after 11 I asked if she could at least get water out before people melted. She told me 2 people called off so there's nothing she can do. After the shower we were popping the balloons and then picking up the remains when she yelled at my guest for popping the balloons on the grass, stating she had a wedding that evening. My friend told her we were picking every piece up and hoped she would be ready for the wedding because she was clearly NOT ready for our shower. She also had nothing under the food to keep things cold stating, "it's too hot, it will just melt". Then she started to clear the food away as the guys got there. The only saving grace was the food was good. She was completely unprofessional, rude, and ruined my daughters shower for me. read more

I wanted to love this place, but just could not. My husband and I went here over the weekend for a wine tasting and to grab a bottle of wine, and we waited 10 minutes while the lady at the counter ignored us while she talked to one of the guests (a friend). She wasn't even having a wine tasting...and there was no one else in the place. When the other guest left, we didn't even get welcomed or greeted or anything. Just a bit of a stare. Not welcoming at all. Then to the wines...horrible! The red wine we tried was rancid. I hope it was just that bottle, because it had an AWFUL aftertaste of vinegar. But we weren't impressed by any of the wines except for the fruit wines. I like the rhubarb (not as much as coopers hawk's rhubarb) and we ended up getting a bottle of the raspberry (or blackberry, can't remember) and sat outside. The place was cute. That's the only reason for the 2 stars instead of 1. Overall, can't recommend. read more

My best friend and I have been visiting wineries in both Michigan and Indiana over the past 2 months and I have been to 10 wineries in that time. Anderson's was the worst experience I've had and hopefully don't come across anything like it again in our travels. Our first stop in the area was at Butler Wines before Anderson's Orchard and Winery. Butler wines were very nice and comparable to most places that we've been to. We arrived at Anderson's around noon and were the only people there... the woman working at the orchard was sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch when we arrived. We started our tasting as usual. Anderson's offers 5 free tastes and by the time I had my 4th taste, the woman left my friend and I while she met with a delivery person. We walked around the store, looking at items for sale and when the woman returned, we asked about some bottle stoppers, to which she was short and curt with our questions. It was mentioned that I had one taste left, to which the woman commented, "I don't think you like our wines!". My friend and I were completely taken aback; we found this behavior rude and uncalled for...why would you talk to a customer this way? I politely told her not to worry about the 5th taste and we quickly checked out. (Yes, we made a purchase and if we wanted to treat her as rudely as she treated us, we would have dropped everything and left, but that's not our style - trust me, we're not going back.) I sincerely hope that this isn't the way they normally treat customers and that someone was just having a bad day. Regardless, the wine was not at all impressive and if you're questioning it, I wouldn't waste your time on making the stop. read more

Hosted a wedding shower here and the staff was very accommodating. The atmosphere was perfect for the event. They even let everyone at our party have free wine tasting. Not to mention it was a fantastic price! Definitely deserving of a five star!! read more
