We choose the Boathouse Bistro after a long walk yesterday at World's End. A gorgeous hike. First, the Bistro is covid/safety compliant. Sucks to have start a review like that but, hey. They have outdoor seating, weather permitting. We sat inside. Too windy. The vibe is casual but nice and bright with lots of windows. Tables are limited right now. Our server, Teresa, was very friendly as was her Mom, Tinka. She owns it with her husband Steve McCauley. Great people. Four of us dined. I had the short ribs with mashed. My wife had the mussels in white wine and a bowl of chicken soup. My friend had the spicy sausage and his wife had the Mussels in white wine with a side of linguine. We all started with the Calamari. Bevs were red wines, sangria and Jameson (that's me :) Everything was perfect and could not have been better or fresher. The calamari were lightly fried and extremely tender. If calamari are chewy, they are not fresh (and might not even be calamari. Look up fake calamari! Better yet, don't). The calamari were cooked with banana pepper and served with a smokey cream sauce. I wanted a bowl of it and a spoon! I do lots of braising (my Osso Bucco is to die for), and these short ribs were perfectly, fall apart tender. The mashed were creamy, buttery and delicious in a light gravy. The mussels were also fresh and tender and the chicken soup resembled a hearty tortilla soup without the tortilla chips. Delicious. Food and 2 rounds of drinks was about $200 with a generous tip. I was told they also have take dinner packages. I wish I lived closer. Try the Boathouse Bistro! You'll be happy you did.

The description did not mention this as I didn't want all this cheese and was disappointed. After taking the layers of cheese off we got to the base. The ravioli to be honest was bad. It tasted like it was freezer burned. One bite and I couldn't eat anymore sadly. It was plain ravioli with some spinach leaves on it not spinach ravioli. The chicken was actually good after taking the cheese off the top. It had a subtle hint of lemon, the broccoli was fresh and pasta cooked perfectly. The garlic bread with mozzarella sadly was horrible. It was a crusty piece of of bread with olive oil, a little garlic and a lot of oregano. Not edible at all. The pizza was ok. It didn't used to be this way but the past four or five months the shopping experience here has been steadily declining. Today at noon'ish, the hot foods counter was bare. Absolutely nothing in the trays. The cold foods were full but- tired looking. I no longer get anything from the prepared foods anyway, as I was on the losing end of an interrogation about potato salad last month (. . . and exactly why is it orange?) that was never going to provide an answer from the uninformed employee. Today, I did get prepared chicken salad this trip as it's delicious when it's made to their original recipe (rotisserie chicken, mayo, celery) but not so much when the chef skips the mayo. And celery. It looks like it has everything in it this time, so I'm hoping. Today in Produce, I did find two tomatoes on the vine. Not the delicious, locally-grown ones I found in here last week, but beggars can't be choosers, so I grabbed the last ones. Last week it was scallions. No scallions- why? That day, the helpful employee didn't deny it was odd, he just shrugged and said, "Maybe in a couple of days?". I could maybe excuse the empty shelves and the clueless employees except for the cashiers who know better than the customer. Today was the third visit I asked the employee conducting a painfully slow checkout process not to squash everything in my order into only one of my shopping bags but . . . nah, he knew best. so all went in one bag. Then he backed the cart out of his way into the line of people waiting patiently behind me, (insted of pulling it forward) saying, "You want your cart?" Why do I want that cart? I'm happy to put it back in the cart line without you running some poor woman's foot over with it, but sure, I'll drag the cart around the counter and through the line because I'm standing at the end of the counter emptying half of what's in one of my bags and filling the second bag with it anyways, so . . . I started shopping at TFM for the quality, the variety of unusual items and the pleasant employees who were helpful, doing a job, and trying to do it well. No clue what's happening, but I can't annoy myself here any more. But now I have to find Malted Milk Balls somewhere that even come close to TFM ones, and that's not gonna happen anytime soon!

Crow Pointe is awesome for take-out. My friend owns a candy store in downtown hingham, and I often help out on busy holidays packing candy and running the front store. Crow Pointe is right down the stree and we often order from there. They have an amazing buffalo chicken calzone that can feed an army! The large calzone is as big as a large pizza and cut into squares. Their pizza is also wonderful and greasy, and their salads (greek) are the best! The price is very reasonable, and the people that work there are friendly and fun. read more

I ordered a bunch of food for a small party, and all of it was great and worth saying a few words about. Onion rings at most places are disappointing. They come out limp and tasteless. But these onion rings are fantastic. They are thick cut, and I knew they were special when one of my friends immediately tried it and I could hear the distinct crunch of breaded food that's been fried perfectly. Their chicken tenders are amazing. A friend of mine once wisely said that you can tell a great chicken tender if it doesn't need any dipping sauce because it can stand on its own. My long-time go-to has been Chik-fil-A, but Gusto's tenders blow Chik out of the water. Who knew that was possible? The breading is perfect and so is the seasoning. And another way you can tell a great chicken tender is the "next day test," which is eating it cold the next day right out of the fridge. These tenders are spectacular. Their steak & cheese bomb sub and roast beef sub have the right ratio of meat-to-bread, and the taste is top-notch. Their pizza is very good. I'm a big lover of Neapolitan-style pizza, and this is more like a Greek-style crust, so I can't say it's the best I've ever had. But it's really good, and their red sauce is savory in a way that most places are lacking. What is also a must-try is their large calzone. I held my breath because I've tried so many of these around this area, and when a place serves a calzone that's enormous and almost the size of a large pizza, usually it's a bit dry. I ordered the chicken parm calzone, and the moment I opened the box's lid, the fluffiness and moistness of the calzone were evident. Also, they cut it in such a convenient way so that each piece is easy to lift up by hand and eat without a mess. And the taste? Superb!!! The stuff shells and meatball are also top-notch. There is something different about the ricotta cheese they use which I can't put my finger on, but it gives the dish an extra dimension that I haven't found at other places. And if the food isn't great enough, the people there are truly wonderful. In so many ways, this is old school at its best. They helped me carry the order to my car. What also deserves some mention is that this is the type of take-out place that we should all spend our money at because not only is the food really delicious and fresh, but the service is also great. You give them your credit card to swipe, and that's it. They don't expect a tip and do things like turn the POS terminal around to guilt you into giving a tip. They focus on putting out great quality food and being kind. It's an example that every restaurant and take-out place should emulate.
