We choose the Boathouse Bistro after a long walk yesterday at World's End. A gorgeous hike. First, the Bistro is covid/safety compliant. Sucks to have start a review like that but, hey. They have outdoor seating, weather permitting. We sat inside. Too windy. The vibe is casual but nice and bright with lots of windows. Tables are limited right now. Our server, Teresa, was very friendly as was her Mom, Tinka. She owns it with her husband Steve McCauley. Great people. Four of us dined. I had the short ribs with mashed. My wife had the mussels in white wine and a bowl of chicken soup. My friend had the spicy sausage and his wife had the Mussels in white wine with a side of linguine. We all started with the Calamari. Bevs were red wines, sangria and Jameson (that's me :) Everything was perfect and could not have been better or fresher. The calamari were lightly fried and extremely tender. If calamari are chewy, they are not fresh (and might not even be calamari. Look up fake calamari! Better yet, don't). The calamari were cooked with banana pepper and served with a smokey cream sauce. I wanted a bowl of it and a spoon! I do lots of braising (my Osso Bucco is to die for), and these short ribs were perfectly, fall apart tender. The mashed were creamy, buttery and delicious in a light gravy. The mussels were also fresh and tender and the chicken soup resembled a hearty tortilla soup without the tortilla chips. Delicious. Food and 2 rounds of drinks was about $200 with a generous tip. I was told they also have take dinner packages. I wish I lived closer. Try the Boathouse Bistro! You'll be happy you did.

IMO the cheese was the best, the chicken bits on the gold center were very small so they were burnt and hard also too many tomatoes but the flavor was good. The gentleman working there was nice. We ordered online for pickup. I ordered the the garlic bread with mozzarella, spinach ravioli with Alfredo sauce and chicken broccoli pasta with lemon sauce. It also came with a free small pizza. The food smelled great when we picked up. We got home to eat it and was surprised the food was smothered with mozzarella cheese. The description did not mention this as I didn't want all this cheese and was disappointed. After taking the layers of cheese off we got to the base. The ravioli to be honest was bad. It tasted like it was freezer burned. One bite and I couldn't eat anymore sadly. It was plain ravioli with some spinach leaves on it not spinach ravioli. The chicken was actually good after taking the cheese off the top. It had a subtle hint of lemon, the broccoli was fresh and pasta cooked perfectly. The garlic bread with mozzarella sadly was horrible. It was a crusty piece of of bread with olive oil, a little garlic and a lot of oregano. Not edible at all. The pizza was ok. I suggest either going in person to get clarity on how dishes are made and get ideas on what may be fresh that da

So disappointing. It didn't used to be this way but the past four or five months the shopping experience here has been steadily declining. Today at noon'ish, the hot foods counter was bare. Absolutely nothing in the trays. The cold foods were full but- tired looking. I no longer get anything from the prepared foods anyway, as I was on the losing end of an interrogation about potato salad last month (. . . and exactly why is it orange?) that was never going to provide an answer from the uninformed employee. Today, I did get prepared chicken salad this trip as it's delicious when it's made to their original recipe (rotisserie chicken, mayo, celery) but not so much when the chef skips the mayo. And celery. It looks like it has everything in it this time, so I'm hoping. Today in Produce, I did find two tomatoes on the vine. Not the delicious, locally-grown ones I found in here last week, but beggars can't be choosers, so I grabbed the last ones. Last week it was scallions. No scallions- why? That day, the helpful employee didn't deny it was odd, he just shrugged and said, "Maybe in a couple of days?". I could maybe excuse the empty shelves and the clueless employees except for the cashiers who know better than the customer. Today was the third visit I asked the employee conducting a painfully slow checkout process not to squash everything in my order into only one of my shopping bags but . . . nah, he knew best. so all went in one bag. Then he backed the cart out of his way into the line of people waiting patiently behind me, (insted of pulling it forward) saying, "You want your cart?" Why do I want that cart? I'm happy to put it back in the cart line without you running some poor woman's foot over with it, but sure, I'll drag the cart around the counter and through the line because I'm standing at the end of the counter emptying half of what's in one of my bags and filling the second bag with it anyways, so . . . I started shopping at TFM for the quality, the variety of unusual items and the pleasant employees who were helpful, doing a job, and trying to do it well. No clue what's happening, but I can't annoy myself here any more. But now I have to find Malted Milk Balls somewhere that even come close to TFM ones, and that's not gonna happen anytime soon!
