I can't believe I've never reviewed Denly Gardens. We've been coming to this neighborhood hole-in-the-wall Italian bar and restaurant since the '80s, and it still serves some of our favorite pizza. Tonight's meal was a great reminder of why we keep returning. The antipasto was a simple but tasty start--crisp lettuce with tuna, olives, peperoncini, a few slices of salami, all brought together with a creamy Italian dressing. The eggplant parm was nicely done: thinly sliced, lightly crisp, and not smothered in sauce or cheese. The manicotti may have been warmed a bit unevenly, but it was still flavorful and satisfying. The pizza took about an hour, but it was worth the wait. The crispy edges and the balance of thin crust, sauce, and cheese were exactly what we hoped for. A smooth Sam Adams Red Brick draft paired perfectly with everything. The servers were clearly busy and working hard, but they remained friendly and added to the comfortable, familiar vibe. I've been going to Denlys for 45 years! I love pizza, and I've been to hundreds of places and it's still my all-time favorite spot!

Best thin crust pizza in Weymouth. Excellent Italian food. Tiny cool family style Italian restaurant.

Usually there's a long wait but I think everyone was celebrating st. Patrick's day instead so we only had a 30 minute wait for pick up at 4:15 on a Saturday. We got hot wings and the white anchovies which were both devoured. The chicken parm was fine, I think for me the chicken seemed a bit more processed than I would have thought, but I think that's my own mental block. The pesto cream pasta dish was delightful and my other roomates enjoyed their dishes. I think their prices are pretty good for the food they are giving you, they also always include slices of fresh Italian bread which is delicious. read more

Service was not very good, spent 40 minutes just sitting with our drinks before the other half of our party had to tell the waiter who wasn't doing our table we haven't gotten to order. food took 40-50 minutes. Best pizza we've had on the south shore - hands down! Light crust, perfect cook, old world/classic toppings. If you want a bready, thick pizza with lots of toppings heaped all over the top of it, then this place might not be for you. But we wanted light pizza with great toppings and Denly's hit. the. spot. As others have said, it's cash only, so be ready for that (there is an ATM inside). Parking is limited, we had to 4x4 up onto a nearby curb to park. And it did take over 30 minutes for our two pizzas to come out on a relatively slow Sunday evening. However, the service was great, the vibe was old school, and the pizza was fantastic! Wild it took me 37 years to discover this place.. I've been bouncing around the south shore looking for anything resembling good pizza and have not found ouch, but after a friend recommended Denly, I had to check it out and I'm glad I did. Aside from being cash only (you can also use Venmo or cash app lol), everything about this place is perfect. It is clearly a local favorite and includes both a small restaurant and bar. We got take out, but I'd love to come back to sit for dinner. As for the pizza it was enormous (we got the Monster size). Slices we huge and equally delicious. Thin crust and very flavorful. My partner and I ordered a monstah cheese pizza and large pepperoni pizza - TASTE: 4/5 - liked the flavor in the tomato sauce of the pizzas, and the saltiness of the pepperoni! TEXTURE: 4/5 - the crust was thin and crisp. Though the pepperoni was a little floppy, and there was lots of black cornmeal on the bottom of the crust PRICE: 4/5 - the total came out to $43, and Denly Gardens is cash only (ATM inside) SERVING SIZE: 5/5 - the monstah was literally a monster at 22" and biggest pie I've ever had. Wanted to love this place but.. Tried to call ahead for an hour, no answer. Should've thrown in the towel there but alas. Went to the restaurant to order, they told me 45-55 min for a cheese pizza and garlic bread. Longer than I would like but stuck with it. Had a feeling it was going to be longer so I went home and didn't come back for an hour. Still wasn't ready when I came, tried to cancel the order twice while waiting but they kept saying "it was going in". After an hour and 40 minutes from ordering I finally got the pizza and this was it. Flavor in the sauce was good, but crust was flavorless, and pizza way too floppy. Garlic bread must've been ready earlier because it was cold and stale by the time we ate it. Personally wasn't worth the wait. read more

Can't say anything bad about the enormous "monsta" sized pizza they have, and the look and feel of the place is great with its old school vibe that takes me back to pizza places from back in the day. Service was great and really prompt, although I should note we were there at a quiet point in the day before most of the pro sports games started up. The bill was reasonable which was good because if i remember correctly they are cash only. The only thing to call out if you go with older relatives or friends is it isn't super accessible as it's an older place and you have to go up and down stairs. If you do go with someone older who needs help maybe ask the staff if they have a padded chair the person can sit on instead of the old school wooden benches as that could help a little. Wow! I live around the corner and haven't heard about this place enough. But I finally stopped by for takeout and I loved it. The inside gives off such old school pizzeria, local bar vibes. Stopped by on a Tuesday night and it was packed. They are mostly known for the pizza but offer other meals and have a full service bar. Just a few staff members who are working hard, running around to get everyone taken care of. The pizza was delish. Very thin, crispy crust and light. The box was so light I wasn't sure if there was anything in it. If you like thin pizza, not a ton of sauce but tasty cheese and a great crispy crust this is the place to try. Couple of tables taken when we got there at 5:40p. Ordered large cheese pizza right away. Took over an hour. Owner never came over to apologize. He waited until I went to the bathroom to come over to say it would be a few minutes. Brought out a Monstah pizza (as an apology?) that was so greasy it made me gag just looking at it. We've been coming here for years. I find that people either love the pizza or hate it. There's no in between. I really like it. It's very thin with a sweeter sauce, and I like the touch of oil on the top to give it that extra flavor (a lot of people find it too greasy, with a lot of flop). Ever since Portnoy did his review, we've ordered out, and just accepted that there'll be a long wait. 1 to 2 hours on a busy night. If you eat in, it's an old-school, no frills type of place - very cool. They accept cash only, which is definitely a pain, but there's an ATM on site. What a local neighborhood gem, I am seriously jealous of my friend who lives nearby this amazing establishment. Walked in late one night, the dining room was closed, the kitchen was about to close, but the man working still took my order (other places in the area had historically shunned these late night shenanigans). When he heard I just wanted a small pie, he invited me to have it there anyways "I got a lot of clean up to do, until lights are off you are welcome to sit". Thanks man, that really is all I wanted, just a little late night food after helping my friends (new parents) with their kid, before driving an hour to my accommodations to sleep for the night. Lets take a moment and acknowledge as a society, most people would have had me pack that pizza and eat it in the car. Really nice guy. Anyways the food, I know everyone watches a few One Bite reviews and think they are pizza experts now, so let me try to do this without using any vernacular from little Davey. It was amazing, sauce had a nice taste, it was the right amount of light sauce, to cheese and dough ratio. Baked properly so the cheese actually melted and cooked, I love that salty flavor you get when the oils start to come out of the cheese. Denly Gardens is excellent, authentic, old school pizza in deepest darkest Weymouth, Massachusetts. Okay, well, it was dark because it was night time, but it does sit in this labyrinth of a neighborhood. The restaurant itself is tucked between several homes on a side street that was lined with cars on a busy Friday night. Good sign. Forget about the ambiance. We did not sit down. The place dates all the way back to 1933, and at almost a hundred, it's held up for its age. There are ancient celebrity pics, and old wood booths, but we ordered take out. Oh, a heads up: Denly's is CASH ONLY. So forget the diatribes on digital currency. Just find an ATM. They supposedly have one, though we didn't see it. But let's get to the pie, because that's all that matters. The pizza is stand up in quality with some of the legends in the region, Regina, Santarpios. IYKYK. It is wafer thin, and the perfect combination crust, sauce and cheese. And that's what we ordered, a "Monstah" cheese and a "Monstah" pepperoni. Oh, and my "special" pizza, but more on that later. To judge good pizza, I agree with El Jefe (again, IYKYK): you really only need to order a cheese. Denly's is nearly perfect. The Monstah size is about 20 inches, and yet they maintain a super thin, super even crust. The dough is fresh, and you can taste it. As I have mentioned before, proper pizza must be cooked hot, really hot. That way the cheese and sauce boil together to form this yin yang, Romeo and Juliet duet that is to die for. Denly's nails it. The pepperoni was the same calibre, but with some of the tastiest pepperoni I've had. Again, nailed it. Finally, a real treat for me was how they handled my "signature" order. The pizza is inspired by some of the things my late great grandmothers used to eat. So for me, and for me alone (there's no way the wife or kids will go near it), I get a small pizza with black olives, garlic and, yes, ANCHOVIES. There was no "small," but the medium fit the bill, and at about 12 inches, a good size. The real treat for me were the anchovies. I am not exaggerating when I say they were the best anchovies I have ever had on a pizza. And I've had a lot of them from a lot of places. Now, I know some of you are recoiling in horror at the thought of consuming the little salty oily fish, but then look at the crap some of you eat on pizza. Broccoli? Mashed potatoes? Shishito peppers. Please. I'll stick with old school and genuine. And that is exactly what Denly Gardens is. read more

I believe this is what they call classic "New York" style but whatever you wanna call it, I love it! Just a plain cheese or pepperoni pizza is my favorite. This is a great neighborhood pizza joint. It's been around since 1933 so it's a place many generations have enjoyed. The pizza is delicious--it's the thin crust variety--my favorite. My companion had the old classic, spaghetti and meatballs, which he really enjoyed. The stand-out at this restaurant are the original wooden booths and the terrific service. They're always busy, but make you feel welcomed and not rushed. Parking out front is a little chancy, but there's a smallish lot across the street and up a few houses. read more
