This underlayment is not recommended by the manufacturer (Portercraft Floors). Frank LaCava installed the floor incorrectly and now it will need to be replaced. Nelson Melara installed our tile and the grout is soft/crumbling and will need to be replaced. Nelson is unresponsive and does not stand behind his work.

As I begin to write this review, I glance back over the earlier reviews (2020-2023) we originally found for this company...and can honestly say...NOTHING HAS CHANGED since those earlier postings. Our original meeting with Andy to obtain an estimate was refreshing (inclusive, respectful and knowledge-sharing). His team, as promised, arrived when he said they would. They were exceedingly respectful of the fact that I work from home (and wore earbuds rather than blaring a boom box and shouting). They seemed very organized, worked well together, and cleaned as they went. They completed the project in less time than estimated ("because Mike was on the job..."). Their style and workmanship are clearly deserving of a 5* rating...and we would highly recommend Andy and his team at Cummings Hardwood Flooring and use them again. The only thing we would encourage folks embarking on this type of project to do is invest the time to learn as much as you can about wood, textures, styles, colors, etc. The end product on our floors was much lighter - both in color and in finish - than anticipated. Simply floors installed a premium carpet that is already frayed and discolored in less than 6…read moremonths. The fuzzy frayed areas look like spider webs that catches and locks in all debris. The seams are not in the agreed upon places, as discussed AND there are more seams than agreed upon. I can clearly see the seams. The scheduling was a nightmare and the installation also did not go as discussed. I needed access to the bare floor (as discussed) but could not gain access nor communicate with the installers. My 25 year old carpet held up much better than this new, extra expensive carpet that is not even 6 months old! It started showing it's flaws within the first two months and it has gotten worse eversince. To be clear - Yes, I did, indeed purchase this carpet from Simply Floors. Note: I will be happy to update/change this review with any positive outcomes if applicable.

There was a request for extra flooring that was an agreed part of the contract that was ignored until I threatened to delay payment. That was finally resolved after several weeks (after much complaining from them afterwards) It should have been taken care of when the flooring was ordered. All in all after a ton work on my end I got what I needed but not without a ton of hassle and ZERO customer support.

We had a problem, that was not the crew's fault, when our fridge ice maker line leaked after the application of the first finish coat. They were great and got it taken care of, re-sanding and refinishing the affected areas. The only issue was communication, especially early on. Be sure to coordinate with the managers so that the plans have been communicated to the crew before the work starts, and stay in touch with the managers. Once I engaged with them it was quite responsive , and most importantly the work is fantastic. We will be enjoying these floors for decades.

Let me share with you my experience,…read more Walter their salesman came out to give me a bid Once he found out that Home Depot had done the estimate already, he just used the amount of boxes which was about 80 for the estimate. He did no measuring or anything else. He was gone in about 10 minutes. (I needed only labor as I was purchasing the material from Home Depot.) Once we agreed on Price to have all the existing solid wood baseboard, removed the new floor put down and the baseboard put back. I agreed to the job. Pricing; I agreed on 50% down and 50% when the job was completed to maintain some control of the final product I'm very glad I did this. Their policy is to get 100% upfront, which I never recommend anyone for any service, ever do. The very next day after agreeing on terms with Walter, I got a call asking for 100% of the money I told this lady that's not what we agreed to and she said well that's what we normally do and I said you better call Walter. I'm gonna cancel the job. She did came back excepted 50% Overall, the subcontractors that came out from a company called Sun sunshine floors did a pretty good job putting in the material But it's the follow up , putting doors back on , getting trim put back on that was a real headache and took me almost 30 days to get done and also a threat of a complaint to get what I considered to be a very reasonable discount about $370 off my bill In the end, I fixed the existing problems myself because it was too much of a headache after they finally agreed to give me the discount Finally, a reminder again if you use this company, do not pay 100% upfront you'll have no control over the job over anything that needs to get fixed and you'll be working on their timetable, while they have all your money ------- Part 2 It's smart that Kelly took down her first knee jerk response to my above comment since is was inaccurate and not well researched. "Telling me I agreed not to leave public comment in agreement for the discount" -that was true if you accepted my generous offer.... the first go round. I'd stay far away from this company. The project manager was only involved in the selling and never…read morecame back to check progress or quality of the work being done. The project manager CJ was frequently surprised by items in the quote and invoice, for example, we paid for stain for the new flooring install and he had forgotten entirely when they went to install and finish the floors. Additionally he quote and tried to charge us for more trim and a taller trim size than was used. Woodwise left the job completely unfinished, there were knots in the floor that weren't filled correctly and it took three weeks to get them to come back to finish it - meaning we could not put our furniture back for over a month. Additionally their finishing work was embarrassing. They put nearly a half inch of caulk in between quarter round and the wall because it was too short. This happened in multiple places around our kitchen, leaving us to fix work that looks like a "landlord special". We'll be very clear to our friends, neighbors and our workplace that this company should be avoided at all costs.

Since we are new to the act and art of "refinishing hardwood floors" - and because we are naturally very curious people - especially about projects we undertake - we searched extensively online to learn as much as we could about the process (techniques, curing timeframe, cautions to take, power needed, etc.) - we even created a checklist of questions to pose so we could ensure that we gathered needed information and were able to understand the process and the way things were done. As we posed our questions, the person sent to do the in-home estimate interrupted, belittled, berated, discounted, dismissed, contradicted...and outright offended not only us but anyone who had ever been gracious enough to post information online about hardwood floor refinishing (even by the industry association - NAWFA). This Wood Wise person seemed to "know it all"...even better than ANYONE else...and positioned themself as THE ONLY source for any type of hardwood floor refinishing information. For us - as curious people, long-time Boulder residents - property managers, homeowners, professionals - we've NEVER been treated - or spoken to - in the way we were by this Wood Wise representative. Truly, as Lara R shares (Mar 2023 review)..."awful experience-never, ever use them!!"...plus, we would add "there are sooo many hardwood floor refinishers in the area - why put oneself through this type of treatment - especially at the front-end (simply getting an estimate)...before the project even begins." After their in-person visit in Aug 2024, the "new" estimate arrived (why bother?!)...and it was 60% more than one provided in June 20204. This, of course, inspired us to do a bit more research...and we were unable to locate any type of current business registration filed with the Colorado Secretary of State's office for this company. Hmmm...??? So, our suggestion and advise, use caution...
