Even though I did not end up using this company for my cross country moving needs, I was so impressed by them and their customer service that it warrants a 5 star review. I worked primarily with Jake J., who was responsive, honest, and patient. He guided me through the process and followed up with me after we spoke on multiple occasions. When I asked him about a cheaper quote that I had received from a different moving company (they do their best to match quotes), he was honest with me about that particular company's reputation, providing me with links to unbiased and credible reviews (which were consistently poor and unfavorable). I know that some people may think that Jake was just trying to get my business, but he told me this: "Even if you don't use us, I would urge you not to use them. I'd be happy knowing that in the end you are in good hands even if it's not us." The main thing I gained from my interactions with Cross Country Movers was more knowledge. Moving can be stressful and confusing, but after speaking with Jake and asking him all sorts of questions, I feel much more confident in making moving decisions and choices. I truly felt taken care of with Jake. He was like my moving guardian angel! The only reason why I didn't end up going with Jake and Cross Country Movers was because my dad and brother are actually helping me out (the most cost effective option for me!). Horrible Experience - Avoid This Company! I can't express enough how terrible my experience with Cross Country Movers has been. From the start, the communication was absolutely dreadful. Once they picked up my stuff, I never heard a word from them. No updates, no tracking info, nothing. I had no idea where my belongings were or when they would arrive. The worst part? They completely overcharged me. The initial estimate was way lower than the final bill, and they tacked on extra, unexplained fees that were never mentioned during booking. It felt like they were just taking advantage of me at every turn. And now, even though it's been weeks, my stuff still isn't here! No one is giving me a clear answer or timeline. This company is a complete disaster and I wouldn't trust them with a single item, let alone an entire move. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable moving company. We had a great experience with cross country moving company (DOT 2626333) for a long distance move from Boston, MA to Austin, TX. We worked with Matthew Chevalier (sales) as our contract agent, Frank Matthews (AR/AP) for the payment, and John Mendes (Operation Team) to coordinate for the move. They all provided comprehensive explanations about the respective step in the move, and were helpful and patient beyond our expectations. Highlight of our move were: 1. No change in the price: Unlike what we had heard about notorious moving companies, with this company there was no change in the contract price. They gave us a quote according to our inventory when I first called, and did not charge extra in any other step. 2. Great packers: On the pick up date, a professional team packed our furniture in an indestructible way. 3. Transparent process: We received an email as soon as the 18 wheeler carrying our furniture left the source city, and received updates about the whereabouts of the truck on its way. 4. Early delivery: On the pick up date we were given a delivery window for delivery within up to 14 business days. They delivered our furniture only 9 days (business and non-business) after the pick up date. 5. No damage to furniture: The delivery was perfect with no damage to our furniture or any of the boxes and their contents. Cross Country Moving gave us a BINDING quote for a move from Austin to Portland. Many questions and back and forths - so the quote was definitely revisited more than once and top of mind - and we were obviously considering this company seriously to handle our move. When we went to book the move over the phone within the 48 hr window, the representative we'd been dealing with this whole time, Jason H., said that he'd made a mistake and that this "binding" estimate contained the wrong quote. He then increased the quote seamlessly through their portal by a $1000 more - under the same quote number, like this is what we'd been quoted all along. He was apologetic and pretended like his bosses wouldn't let him honor the original quote, but this felt awfully like a bait and switch. This company is operating in bad faith. Great company to work with when transporting your vehicle cross country. The company and owner were a pleasure to work with in transporting my vehicle from California to Texas. This company is horrible and should not be allowed to do business. Horrible customer service and completely unreliable team. They were unable to provide a valid COI and cancelled a cross country move on the day of the move. They then refused to reimburse me for fees paid at my building in order to secure a non-COI move. I then had to pay additional fees for moving our late, in aggregate costing me a few thousand dollars. They haven't offered anything to make up for this and manager was beyond rude. I'm yet to get the deposit reimbursed and am in the process of filing a formal customer service complaint and litigate for reimbursement of damages. This business is a scam and I suggest you utilize a reliable and professional service for your move and storage. read more

I utilized Cross Country Movers for a long distance move I had in August from Texas to Pennsylvania. This was my first time doing a long distance move, so I had no experience at all. Planning this move was a headache as any kind of moving can be stressful. PRE MOVE: After calling Cross Country Movers, I got connected with Dan B. He was assigned as my long distance move specialist and would be with me through the whole moving process. He walked me through the process and made it clear and simple. He gave me a quote over the phone. I researched other companies and many of them have to come to do an in person estimate which is a hassle. There was no pressure to go with them and the customer service was excellent. Cross Country is also registered with the Department of Transportation, so there are legit. Because this was my first time doing a move, I was a bit anxious. I called Dan many times, but he was always nice and friendly. He was always available to answer my questions. My quote was about $3,700 for a 1 bedroom move, 1 living room, and 1 bathroom move (price is dependent on how much stuff you have). My car shipping was: $975 It sounds a bit pricey, but it saves on stress of doing a road trip with a U-haul. MOVE DAY: The day of the move, everything went very smoothly. I chose the package to pack things myself and have the movers come. The movers were fast and friendly. They wrapped and moved the big stuff for me. I just had to make sure to pack all my small miscellaneous objects. My quote was guaranteed, so everything I moved on my list would be guaranteed at that price. I actually was able to pack less boxes and was efficient with my packing, so in the end saved $300 from my original quote. POST MOVE: My stuff got to my destination on time. The movers gave me an update on where my stuff was every couple of days, so this definitely reassured me. Dan B. was excellent and provided awesome customer service. Moving is never an easy thing, especially if you're moving thousands of miles away (Dallas). Having to trust your valuables being moved across country is extremely nerve-racking. Cross Country Movers are super friendly and reliable and asked where to put every single box. They even took the time to help me discard some unwanted items in my old apartment's dumpster. They took great care wrapping and moving my belongings for storage 6 months ago and also did a fantastic job moving me into my new condo on Sunday. I was extremely fortunate in choosing Cross Country Movers. They had to help move a lot of belongings from my grandfather's house, including all the collected junk from the last few years that he never threw away.
