Folded, unused moving blankets while lots of our furniture was left unwrapped. Heavy items crushing lighter ones.

I hired Texan Tuff Movers last week to help me load a 20-foot U-Haul truck that was headed from Texas to Minnesota. Byron, Tito, and another worker they were training were prompt and very courteous, friendly guys. Until I reached my location and saw the results of their terrible packing job, I was really happy with how quickly they worked. They seemed to be doing a great job packing our truck even though U-Haul had messed up my order and gotten me a different size. They asked my husband to go out and get more moving blankets to help secure the furniture, which he did, and they still finished with time to spare. I tipped them and offered them beer leftover in our fridge when they finished. However, when we arrived at our destination, we instantly saw that a lot of our furniture and valuables had been damaged. First, they placed very heavy boxes and totes on top of light ones. In one case, two totes weighing at least 100 pounds that contained garage tools had been set on top of a tote weighing 3 pounds that had all of our Christmas ornaments in it. The tote with the ornaments was obliterated, smashing several irreplaceable pieces. Still, I was much more disappointed to see that they had left a lot of our very nice walnut furniture completely unwrapped after I specifically I asked that they wrap carefully in the moving blankets I purchased myself. We have a mix of nicer, upscale furniture and IKEA pieces, and I let them know that the IKEA pieces could be wrapped with the cheaper blankets that I had rented from U-Haul. I had better blankets for the more expensive furniture, and I said all the walnut pieces needed to be wrapped nicely. They didn't wrap the IKEA furniture in *any* blankets. Dressers were simply wrapped in saran wrap, and they left white shelves without blankets at all. Worse, our really nice display shelves that are $600 a piece and that I specifically mentioned should be taken care of (along with all of our walnut furniture) were completely bare and unwrapped in the truck just standing against totes and other furniture. The movement of everything caused them a lot of unnecessary damages and blemishes. And in what almost felt like an insult - at least 15 extra moving blankets, including both the nice blankets I'd bought and the ones they had sent my husband out to get more of, were folded by the side of the unwrapped shelves, completely unused. Other pieces of furniture had blankets draped over them, but no saran wrap had been used to secure the blankets in place. They slipped off in several corners, causing lots of scratching. The movers also took my desk apart for no reason without letting me know they were doing it, and they did not save the bolts that held the pieces together. I am going to have to contact the original furniture company in order to get the extra parts to reassemble it. I am never the person to write bad reviews (this is honestly the first time I've ever done it), but the lack of care and professionalism in their packing job has me pretty shocked. The company that helped me unload when we got to Minnesota said it was the worst furniture packing job they'd ever seen. I am lucky I packed all of my precious items in boxes carefully, but I trusted these guys to help me take good care of my furniture, and they really dropped the ball. Moving is stressful, and packing is hard work; I know mistakes should be expected, but this appears to be a result of carelessness, not a simple mistake. I would warn anyone against using Texan Tuff Movers if you care about what you are moving at all. I wish I had checked Yelp first rather than simply booking through the U-Haul site, as their reviews here aren't as glowing as they are over there.

David, who manages the office and books the jobs did a fantastic job staying in contact with us and working with us to ensure the safety of my family as well as his team. The driveway to our complex was up a steep hill and covered in ice. We were able to reschedule for a move on Monday February 22nd with an early start time. Mojo and Emeka called about 15-20 minutes before arriving and took the instructions well to get to our hard to find apartment unit. They took a brief walk around the unit and decided a plan of attack. Then the clock started. While the move took longer than I had originally expected both of these guys worked hard the entire time. No breaks. No milking the clock. The only two breaks they took were once on the way to deliver when they stopped to pick up rehydration beverages, which they asked for permission to do first and did not charge us for, and the second time was when we offered them food and beverages while unloading. There was minimal/no damage to our property when all was said and done. There were a few marks made in the very narrow stairwell, which the owner promptly came out the next day and cleaned up himself. No knicks, divots, or scratches to any of the walls in our old apartment or the brand new built home we moved into. Before I continue I just want to give every customer a heads up, you can safe yourself and your movers a lot of time by prearranging everything before hand. Take apart beds, take apart sectionals, disconnect washers, dryers, and refrigerators. Anything you can do to make their job as simple as picking up the items and moving it into the truck. The prices they offered across the board by companies in Austin was higher than when I managed a moving company in Austin 13 years ago and even with that being said Jackson was the lowest bid I received and not to mention, their phone lines were never busy and communication was very easy. At the end of the day I was very pleased with the service from EVERYONE in the Jackson's Moving organization and will absolutely use them again in the future. Mojo, Emeka, David, Thurman Thank you all for your assistance throughout this whole ordeal.

I got a text from him the evening before to change pick up time to 8am. I said 9am would be better. One of his employees called next morning at 9:30am stating they were trying to get a driver. I waited two hours called back and never got an answer. I was also texting Jackson and no response from him either. So I cancelled after two hours of no response. I will never contact this company again.

Update on April, 7, 2026…read more Last Saturday, I received messages from Nick at the customer service center. He first expressed his sincere apologies for the experience I had, and then he tried to better understand the situation in detail. After learning what had actually happened, he acknowledged that this was not the kind of customer experience their company aims to provide. He was very proactive in stating that they would make things right. Today, Monday, I received a follow-up call from Nick. He showed a very positive and proactive attitude in trying to resolve the issue. Through our communication, we were able to reach an agreement. What I would like to highlight is that Royal Moving & Storage Austin and their customer service team truly make you feel that customers come first.

Before I begin, I must convey the fact that every single shipping company, whether transporting…read moreautomobiles/motorcycles or your belongings is full of scummy, deceptive, and thieving individuals. I thought I had a good company after all the researching I did. But Royal is no different. I first spoke with a woman named "Sunny" who promised me so many things. That my price wouldn't change, that when I added my washer/dryer and barstools the price would stay the same..then when the mover got to me, it was the complete opposite. My invoice went from $2035 to $4100. And I was moving 22 medium sized boxes, washer/dryer and 2 barstools. So a whole house would easily be $15000, do you see my point in how much I was price gouged? Sunny has a silver tongue. She sold me a dream. This industry preys on people becauase once they have your stuff loaded up, you're at their mercy. Royal is just like all the others. Their sales model is just different. They say they have their own trucks which is a lie. They'll send you photos to seal the deal but the person who came to my house was just some young boy driving a rented Enterprise truck. And after all that money I paid, I was stuck helping the guy move my stuff because he didnt have anyone with him. Absolute crooks.
