The Car Carriage - 2010 Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition

The Car Carriage

UPDATE AS OF 4/7: James did contact me on 3/29 and was very…read moresympathetic to my experience with Ad Fast Transport LLC, which he told me he would hold accountable to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. He also offered to reimburse me for my Uber expenses, which I also appreciated. Overall, the experience still wasn't the best but I can appreciate the apology and actions that came afterwards from the Car Carriage. **Full transparency: I have updated my review from two stars to four following the update.** This was my first time using an auto transport company and I decided to use the Car Carriage based on a solid review from a family friend. During my initial consultation via online system and call, the company was very responsive. James was a great help to understand what the process would be like and get an accurate look at the total costs. I also appreciated that I did not have to pay anything upfront until the car was delivered. The Car Carriage is based in Texas and they use contractors around the country to pick up your car. The contractor I used, Ad Fast Transport LLC is based in Maryland and dealing with them was the worst experience. First off, leading up to my pick-up date, I heard nothing from Ad Fast. The Car Carriage provided their contact information so I reached out and a representative named Josy picked up. Josy seemed very unorganized and unprofessional during our call and had no idea when the driver would arrive to pick up my car. This was a problem because I had a flight back to Maryland in less than four days and needed my car picked up before I left. I had to consistently call Josy to get an idea of when the driver could pick up my car. It was originally scheduled for pick up on 3/15 but it wasn't picked up until 3/17. However, this wasn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue was when I recieved a text from Josy asking me if I could meet the driver 25 minutes west from the original pickup location in a very rural area. I was very skeptical of this unprofessionalism, however, like I said before, I needed my car gone before my flight. So I agreed and drove to the location. The driver was very sweet about it all but I learned he was planning to come to the original location but was told by Josy not to. Getting back to my original location was a pain as temperatures were in the single-digits and there was no ubers or lyfts available until an hour later so I had to wait in a local motel until I could find a driver to take me home. My car was safely delivered to the contacting company but I was out $52 from the Uber and had to wait an hour in an unfamiliar part of town. When I asked Josy, how I would get home once I gave my car, her only response was "I don't know." When I reached back out to James and the Car Carriage for a response, I have yet to receive an email as of 3/24. There is no accountability and the lack of communication from all involved parties has been disheartening and frustrating to say the least. Luckily, my car was delivered safely to the listed location in a timely fashion on 3/21. However, this experience has been so traumatizing and horrific that I would not recommend the Car Carriage or any of its contractors to anyone.

DOUBLE BROKER ALERT…read more Rate did not match what customer actually had a contract with them. We verified directly with the customer at the pickup. The Car Carriage LLC refused to fix the issue and instead threatened us with negative if we didn't pick up the car, or pay $300 to avoid it. Unprofessional, dishonest, and a waste of time. Carriers beware--high risk of scam and double brokerage.

Kevin was very professional, patient and easy to communicate with. As someone who's never shipped…read moretheir car before, I was almost reluctant to go with Bold Auto Transport due to the price for transport, but Kevin walked me through the process of listing cars for pickup and waiting for drivers, so I understood the need for a price uptick. All my other questions were answered and my concerns addressed. I felt much more confident working with Bold Auto Transport than another company, which had not been providing me any updates regarding my transport. Delivery was a day later than the stated date, but I think this has more to do with the carrier rather than the broker (Bold Auto Transport). My car arrived without any obvious damages or tampering.

I wouldn't recommend this auto transport to anyone! I had my car towed from Frisco,Texas to…read moreMelbourne, Florida and when it arrived it had scratches, dents, etc. I was told my car would be insured, but when I contacted them, I was informed no personal transports would be covered. This info came from their insurance company that handles their claims. If my car would have been totaled, I personally would have had to file a claim with my own insurance company. Do not trust this company at all! One of the employees ( not sure if he was a mgr?) named John, constantly gave me the run around, promising he would rectify this ordeal and never did. Every single time I called they wouldn't pick up, but a text msg would arrive stating someone would call me back. Another lie! No one cared enough to help me. Plz don't use this company as I fear you too, will be screwed over like I was. I wouldn't even rate this company or "John" for that matter with one star, but it doesn't give me that option!

The last driver they contracted to transport my car caused $700 dollars worth of damage to the bottom of my Audi, which wasn't visible until the next day in better light. We called several shipping companies and settled in on Lepke. The company was very responsive, they connected me with a shipper, who said that he would pick up the car the next day, he was a bit late but kept in touch with me giving frequent updates, I understood the traffic was a nightmare that day. When he arrived the driver immediately showed me his credentials and loaded my car. He told me that I could call him anytime and would be able to pick up the car in Florida in 3 days...wait a minute, I can't get there before 5 days...Immediately the driver told me that he would arrange for the car to be dropped off at a garage and could be delivered to me on day 5 for a fee or...brace for it...$75.00!!!! Holy crap, Im in. He also told me that he would continue to take responsibility for the car until I picked it up. I have to admit I was scared sh...less because everything was very inexpensive, I budgeted $1200 for the move and so far it was only costing me $525 + the $75 fee to hold over the car. Anytime contacted the driver he either picked up the phone or called me right back. I actually are it to Florida a day early (fear is a real motivator). I was able to immediately pick up the car, although I was told that they would gladly drop it off at no extra charge. Everything was flawless, went much better that expected. Amazing experience. My name is Arthur S and I drive a still mint 2014 Infiniti Q50 in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Thanks Lepke for making this so easy. Arthur S, moved 3/27/2014

I honestly could not believe how prepared these guys showed up, they pulled up with two trucks that…read morewere entirely empty aside from the equipment that was inside them. They had advanced tools and dollies that were able to help on a number of situations throughout the house. The dollies enabled them to move heavy objects in and out by themselves, not requiring help from the other movers while they were busy. Other tools they had which very notable were these pads that they laid against fragile objects when moving them through tight doorways in order to prevent damage. They were so careful with our things that we did not mind paying a little bit extra for extra cautiousness, after all you move once in a while and want it to be done right. This was definitely one of the aspects that caused me to leave the rating I did. Another thing that I really loved about these guys was that they did not allow me or anyone in my family to partake in carrying objects. They made sure that my parents relaxed and watched, and supervised the movers as they did their job. The manager said that it was their job and that was the reason they were there and being paid. We really appreciate all of the hard work and effort these guys put into our move. Even the truck drivers were inside helping as much as they could until the trucks were full and they had to hit the road. The entire move was scheduled to take two weeks but we managed to narrow that down to about eight business days. I could not be happier with the results. Thank you to the entire moving crew for all they did for my family.

It was all fun and games until the movers actually arrived the very first day, we had contacted…read morethem twenty four hours prior to that and they were able to provide us with an estimation the next day. We had worries that we would not be able to make the deadline of the move as we needed to be moved out by the Thursday of last week. The day we called them was pretty inconvenient to get started so Trico was able to compromise and schedule us to have somebody come in and approximate the price and length of the transportation process. They informed us that the actual packing and loading the furniture onto the trucks will take up at least two to three days and the rest of the transport will take up to another four days relative to how far we were moving. I told my dad that they were offering several package bundles and he opted to choose the one with an insurance policy with it, I strongly agreed. It was one of the best deals they had, including a full damage reimbursal insurance policy for moves over a few hundred miles. Thankfully our move was just about that length if not longer and we qualified for the package. These guys are the very best at what they do, we contacted them on short notice and they did not overcharge us or give us a hard time about things. If we had to do it all over again I think we would still choose these guys without a doubt. We had a wonderful experience and all of our stuff arrived safely at our new home without a single scratch.
