DOUBLE BROKER ALERT. Rate did not match what customer actually had a contract with them. We verified directly with the customer at the pickup. The Car Carriage LLC refused to fix the issue and instead threatened us with negative if we didn't pick up the car, or pay $300 to avoid it. Unprofessional, dishonest, and a waste of time. Carriers beware--high risk of scam and double brokerage. read more

I recently shipped my Turbo S to Florida through this broker. The broker then goes through a shady transport company. Then they were not helpful on recovering my Porsche. I then have to file a police report and claim with my Insurance. I would not recommend working with James. read more

The only thing that made James respond today was upon reading recent negative reviews. We booked with James weeks ago to ensure timeliness and proper communication. As prior reviews mention, the communication upfront was consistent - anytime we called, he answered or called back within 30 minutes. We were given a window, as any standard company does. On the first day of the window I waited about mid day to call and asked if there were any updates I was told "I was just looking at that... let me pull it up here... no driver has picked up yet but I do have a driver that reached out earlier that was interested in picking it up so once that is confirmed I'll call within a few hours out." The next day, on 06/05, I asked again at midday for any updates. James stated, "No updates... if you haven't heard from me, that means I don't have anything for you quite yet... You do know it's a window, right?" I responded yes, of course, that's why I'm just calling for an update, in which he states not to worry, he'll make sure that the car gets picked up by tomorrow, 06/06. I responded with no worries and clarified if he is available to call, given that it is Saturday, as I understand weekends are usually non-business hours/workdays. He responded "Oh yes, I'm available! It's only me here all day, every day, so I am available." Today, 06/06, I called midday again; no answer, so I left a voicemail to clarify whether the window is to close and, if a driver doesn't pick up, how we should proceed from here. We then used the "chat blog" option on their site, where the automated system or a third-party team said they would escalate the situation. We gave it time because we understand it's a busy season and we were still in our window however it is now 6pm in which he called us because of reviews and stated in a very agitated tone "I canceled your driver! They were an hour away (mind you, we were told that we would be notified when a driver picks up a few hours prior) you should think again before posting a negative review and wait for the window to close! I'm the only one here... sitting here on my day off... does your doctor have a day off?! Do you have a day off?! (Again, I politely asked if he is available today because I'm very aware that Saturdays are usually non-business days. Overall, everything was fine until it wasn't. We were patient, consistent in our communication, and understanding, and received no further communication until reviews were posted, at which point we received an immediate phone call. read more

Do not waste your time! I am sitting in my house right now waiting for my daughter' Car to get picked up today the last day of the three days window. I scheduled weeks ago, a $300 deposit was paid right away and then nothing. I am sitting wasting my last presius times with my daughter in my house waiting for a phone call from someone. When I call an AI system tells me that somebody will call me back and that they understand how important and how urgent this is. The "broker" James is nowhere to be found today. One start is to much! ****** update, literly a minute after my post the "Broker" James called me outrage because of my review. Mind you, I have been trying to get in contact with him for six hours today. He told me that it was he's day off and that he had canceled our pick up that was supposed to be here in an hr. He said that maybe next time I waited until the window closed" like we have all weekend to wait "! he was disrespectful and loud with me. I don't believe for a second that a driver was magically be here in an hr with no previous notice. Again DO NOT book anything with this company! Unprofessional in all aspects! How dare you get upset when you never got back to us and have us siting home for 3 days with out a simple call or text! read more

I normally don't leave negative reviews, but my experience with Car Carriage has been extremely disappointing due to the lack of communication and transparency from the owner and broker, James Taylor. I spoke with James for over a month leading up to my move. I asked him very clearly when I should list my car to guarantee it would be shipped on time. He gave me the dates and the quote, and I trusted his guidance. He told me that I would receive a call within the 3-day carrier pickup window. Instead, I was completely ghosted. No calls, no updates, no returned voicemails. Nothing. I later discovered through another shipping company that James removed my listing from Central Dispatch without notifying me, and I still have not received a single follow-up call or explanation. I want to be clear: I do not blame Car Carriage for not securing a carrier right away. That happens, especially in certain regions or seasons. What I do blame them for is: - Failing to update my carrier price when no drivers were taking the load - Failing to communicate anything when the pickup window passed - Failing to provide transparency about what was happening with my listing - Removing my Central Dispatch posting without telling me - Completely abandoning the booking and disappearing when I needed guidance A broker's main job is communication, transparency, and adjusting the listing as needed and none of that happened. I was left on my own with zero notice, and no professional should treat a customer like that--especially when the customer is relying on time-sensitive transport. I would NEVER recommend Car Carriage based on my experience. read more

James from Car Carriage is great. There were some hiccups at the beginning of the process due to a problem with the original trucker picked to haul my car, but James got it handled and got the car to me quickly in great condition. This would be 5 stars if communication had been a little clearer in the early stages while dealing with the first driver, but I think we(James and I) both learned from that and would recommend his business to anyone going forward. read more

Scheduled my car to be picked up on the sixth of June. It still had not been picked up 4 days later on the tenth so I called with no answer from James so I called the driver directly and canceled the shipment. James proceeded to call me and began yelling at me over the phone about my cancellation. Calling me inconsiderate of others as well as insulting me. I had no communication as to where the driver was or what was happening. The lack of communication and the fact that I was yelled at over the phone is not a great way to conduct business. I would highly advise against his service. read more

Great experience from beginning to end! The car was picked up at my mother's house in New Jersey, and delivered here to me in Florida. Both the pickup and the drop off were done right at our front door, and the timing was coordinated to meet our needs. We were even reminded to remove the electronic toll pass, so that we wouldn't be charged along the way. This was a pleasurable experience at a reasonable price. I would enthusiastically endorse The Car Carriage. read more

UPDATE AS OF 4/7: James did contact me on 3/29 and was very sympathetic to my experience with Ad Fast Transport LLC, which he told me he would hold accountable to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. He also offered to reimburse me for my Uber expenses, which I also appreciated. Overall, the experience still wasn't the best but I can appreciate the apology and actions that came afterwards from the Car Carriage. **Full transparency: I have updated my review from two stars to four following the update.** This was my first time using an auto transport company and I decided to use the Car Carriage based on a solid review from a family friend. During my initial consultation via online system and call, the company was very responsive. James was a great help to understand what the process would be like and get an accurate look at the total costs. I also appreciated that I did not have to pay anything upfront until the car was delivered. The Car Carriage is based in Texas and they use contractors around the country to pick up your car. The contractor I used, Ad Fast Transport LLC is based in Maryland and dealing with them was the worst experience. First off, leading up to my pick-up date, I heard nothing from Ad Fast. The Car Carriage provided their contact information so I reached out and a representative named Josy picked up. Josy seemed very unorganized and unprofessional during our call and had no idea when the driver would arrive to pick up my car. This was a problem because I had a flight back to Maryland in less than four days and needed my car picked up before I left. I had to consistently call Josy to get an idea of when the driver could pick up my car. It was originally scheduled for pick up on 3/15 but it wasn't picked up until 3/17. However, this wasn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue was when I recieved a text from Josy asking me if I could meet the driver 25 minutes west from the original pickup location in a very rural area. I was very skeptical of this unprofessionalism, however, like I said before, I needed my car gone before my flight. So I agreed and drove to the location. The driver was very sweet about it all but I learned he was planning to come to the original location but was told by Josy not to. Getting back to my original location was a pain as temperatures were in the single-digits and there was no ubers or lyfts available until an hour later so I had to wait in a local motel until I could find a driver to take me home. My car was safely delivered to the contacting company but I was out $52 from the Uber and had to wait an hour in an unfamiliar part of town. When I asked Josy, how I would get home once I gave my car, her only response was "I don't know." When I reached back out to James and the Car Carriage for a response, I have yet to receive an email as of 3/24. There is no accountability and the lack of communication from all involved parties has been disheartening and frustrating to say the least. Luckily, my car was delivered safely to the listed location in a timely fashion on 3/21. However, this experience has been so traumatizing and horrific that I would not recommend the Car Carriage or any of its contractors to anyone. read more

These companies are all the same. James Taylor is the broker, you have pay him in order to get a truck that also needs to be paid. They don't tell you that when you call. Even when you ask if there's any hidden fees, several times. We were given a price of $925 and were told by James Taylor that would be the price point. We also asked him if it was ok to load the car COMPLETELY. His response was yeah sure. No other info. No mention of weight station fees. Nothing about anything except our price point of $925. Once the truck got to the weight station the broker changed the game on us and tried to charge our card. We're from the Bronx so we're smarter than he is. He wasn't able to get his money, when he tried to charge our card. He tried to take an extra $300 without us knowing. When we called and asked why James Taylor tried to charge our card with $300, James Taylor said he had never spoken to us before. After that he realized he couldn't get his money. So he got mad and contacted the driver. The driver has nothing to do with the broker and he's not "allowed" to take the car down without the full amount. The broker threatened the driver. James Taylor, because of you the entire world is going to know how The Car Carriage operates. James never explained the contract. When asked if there were any other payments that needed to be made. He said no. He waited until our car was on his drovers truck to change the game. that's how they get you. If you're a new customer here, which is why I'm making this review. Be aware. These people scam all the time and it's the way they operate. James Taylor has several bad reviews on here, the proof is in the pudding. Also James, trying to switch the game on me doesn't work. try a different tactic. I'm not mad at all, but the bad reviews you've already got, and the sleezy business you conduct will be made known. read more

What a great experience with Car Carriage and the transport company. I shipped a 1988 Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible from Florida to Texas. Car Carriage - James - was the best. He was very responsive to my calls and emails with excellent communication. I had a transport company that was to pick up my car, a couple of things happened and I was not comfortable with the transport company. I called James, he canceled that company without hesitation and I was thankful. The next day another transport company was scheduled to pick up my car. They delivered it today and I could not be happier. The transport company took extra care of my convertible and their communication was excellent. If I have to ship again, Car Carriage will be my first call. Thank you Car Carriage and Highlander Trucking. read more

I had a wonderful experience with James from Car Carriage. I did a state to state transportation for a car. Amazing customer service and follow up. James was on the phone when he said he would call. I was emailed a contract with all the information I needed while on the phone with the original order. My plans changed twice due to the Northern California fires. James accommodated my needs and was on call for changes due to the evacuation. Amazing job . I am thrilled with my car transportation. It was such a relief in Covid-19 and a fire emergency to find support and a company and a service that cared. Excellent customer service. Thanks so much for all of the assistance. My car is happy to be safe. read more

Not sure what happened, but this company has left me scrambling to figure out how to get my vehicle to our new home across the country. I made the reservation in January and when it came time to pick up in June, I got totally ghosted. Emails went unanswered. Phone calls went unanswered. I was always taught to consider the other person's point of view in a situation. Maybe this small operation (seems to be one person) got overwhelmed or had a life event that rendered the service impossible to complete. Either way, lesson learned, for sure. Anyone have a recommendation for car transport? We leave tomorrow and the Car Carriage totally let us down. read more

Called James for a quote and others too. I've used 3 other carriers in the past 20 years. I had a good feeling about him being honest, not so much the others. Decided to go with James as he explained things to me that no one else would. Realized others were trying to gouge. Went with him and am sooooo glad I did. The man that took my moms car was so helpful and informative. He showed up for the drop off early. The whole experience was so superior to all my other experiences. I'd highly recommend James company! read more

This company states on their web page how great their communication is. I just had my car shipped. Picked up on a Friday in TX and was told by the driver that it should make it to FL by Monday / Tuesday. I tried calling the company on Monday to get an ETA, no answer, no response. I messaged the driver, same result. OK I waited until Tuesday, took time off work to make sure I was available. By the afternoon I tried calling again, no response, Calls, texts, e mails. Neither party would respond, still no car. I waited until Weds late afternoon and texted the driver once more asking that he respond with an ETA by Thurs or I would have to assume that due to no one communicating that the car was now missing, and if by Thursday evening if I hadn't gotten a response I would report the vehicle stolen! I immediately got a response and the drive told me the car would be delivered Thursday noon. That turned into Thursday 1:30PM. I didn't need this stress. The tow vehicle was pretty shabby with tape and broken windows. My car was filthy from a week on the road to God knows where. He obviously picked up and dropped off several more cars on the way which is fine, tell me Thursday and I would not have expected Monday or Tuesday. The lack of communication is the biggest complaint and the web site touts how great they are at it. James Taylor would not return a call or message once he got the contract.
