My project was immediately responded to and they were able to help me move two weeks later on their soonest available date. The three movers, Pat, Renaldo, and Kevin were incredible. Communication leading up to the move and theday of was great. They were able to move all my large furniture within 2 hours. Everything was wrapped carefully and efficiently. They were kind and thoughtful, helping me make adjustments to the furniture layout once we got to the destination. Their positivity through one of the hardest situations I've ever gone through was much-needed and made me feel confident in entering this next chapter. I even had a last minute change to the destination (originally everything was going into storage but I ended up finding an apartment just in time), and the professionalism and patience from the entire Bookstore team through this change was excellent. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. The items were mainly consolidated into main areas, anticipating that it would make it easier for the moving crew to quickly pack and move the items to the trailer. They were here for over 9 hours, packed the truck half full vertically, but filled the 28 foot horizontally. This is something I would expect from college kids who have zero experience as you get charged every foot horizontally you take up in cross country moves. So now, not only are we out $2300 for these movers, we are out an extra 3k because they used twice the amount of space that was actually needed if they had done it correctly. Military and families and federal employees- go anywhere else. This was an absolute disaster.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. Instead, we opted to do the good ol' Uhaul way. We needed movers to come help load the truck Friday night since we'd be leaving Saturday morning. I looked into company after company with some concerning reviews about efficiency, speed, and care. Made Movers was the one company that stood out with consistently good reviews, and for good reason! Joseph was super quick to get back to my request for a quote. He gave us a very reasonable hourly price, and was able to accommodate our Friday evening time frame. Joseph was also very responsive on follow-up emails, which I appreciated. On the day of the move Joseph called to let us know they were running 15-20 minutes late. It wasn't a huge amount of time, so I appreciated the heads up. Joseph and his crew arrived and got right to work. Most of our stuff was boxed already, but the furniture needed wrapping. The crew carefully wrapped our furniture with the furniture blankets we picked up from Uhaul. The entire time they worked very efficiently and quickly. Once the work was done, in under 2 hours, there were no hidden costs, nothing in our apartment was scratched or broken (horror stories I read about other companies) and the Uhaul looked ready to go. When we finally got to Chicago we were happy to find not a single piece of furniture was broken or dented, and the movers here were quickly able to unload the truck due to how well it was packed in the first place.
