We wanted to grab a Saturday brunch close to my daughter's apartment in Wrigleyville, checked several places and Crosby's Kitchen looked very good. Decided to meet her and a couple of her friends here and the we had a wonderful time. Food: So many great things to choose from, we scrolled through all of the Yelp photos but everything looked so tasty. We started with an order of the Monkey Bread for the table...definately a must try! I ended up going with Crab Toast app as I had a snack on my way over. Everyone else in our party ordered an assortment of menu items from the Shrimp and Grits to the Omlette Cornelia and the Benedict. Every menu item was excellent and ended with a booth full of happy brunchers. Even though everyone said they were stuffed, we ordered the Cookie Skillet which was quickly consumed by those "stuffed" individuals! Service: Our server Olivia was fantastic, took really great care of us. She patiently answered all of our questions, checked on our party frequently, and delivered everything with a smile. Atmosphere: Indoor and outdoor seating with a number of comfy booths and tables. There is an outdoor seating that looked great for al fresco but it was little rainy when we arrived. They also have a well stocked bar with seating that looks like it would be great to have a cocktail or two. Value: Good value for the location, quality of ingredients, and portions. I would consider the servings to be hearty without going overboard. With the five of us, including the monkey bread to start, the cookie skillet to end, cost per diner was about $18 each. Overall: Great place, friendly service, excellent food, I'd definitely return in the future when we return to the area. We went to Crosby Kitchen on a busy Saturday and had an amazing experience. We sat by the fireplace and were kept cozy with their warm menu options and boozy brunch cocktails (we love a bloody with a beer chaser). As others have mentioned, the monkey bread can't be missed! The tostadas and biscuits and gravy were also a favorite at our table. Our family of four decided to order in Thanksgiving this year. And we wanted to support a local restaurant and picked Crosby's Kitchen because my daughter used to live in the neighborhood and we always loved it. We got a whole fabulous 12 pound turkey with gravy & cranberry relish, a yummy sweet potato casserole, a green bean and mushroom casserole, and the most amazing biscuits ever with a maple butter. We filled in with our own mashed potatoes and stuffing. Everything was amazing. And we ate another round the next day. Then I made two different turkey tetrazzini's with the leftovers plus turkey broth for soups. All in all, it was worth every penny and it was certainly delicious. read more

Crosby's kitchen has a welcoming/trendy vibe and I thought I was going to enjoy the experience more than I actually did. What I ordered: I tried the grilled fish sandwich with the vegetable of the day which was Brussels sprouts in an Asian-inspired sauce. The fish was good, but Nothing special. The Brussels sprouts would have been really good if the sauce had been evenly dispersed. I wish I would have tried the iron skillet blueberry cornbread because I think I would have enjoyed Crosby's more if I had. Came in on a Saturday night. We did not have to wait for a table they seated us very quickly. The waitress was friendly and overall service was great. We got the calamari and deviled eggs for an appetizer. They were both flavorful and came out fast. For dinner we got the baby ribs and rotisserie chicken. The meat on the ribs were cooked perfectly the meat fell of the bone and were seasoned perfectly. For dessert we got the carrot cake and the ice cream cookie. Both were great! read more

We wanted to get brunch spontaneously in the Southport area, and I had gotten a recommendation to try Crosby's sometime before. I wasn't sure how good the brunch was, but wanted to give this popular spot a try. Definitely needed to get a nice patio spot too. We put our names down and waited about 20 minutes- walked around the nice area to kill the time- and were seated in a nice outdoor spot next. Besides the flies, the flowers surrounding the patio were beautiful. Our service was prompt and super friendly. We ordered the lobster deviled eggs and some coffee to start. These deviled eggs were delicious and a nice treat before the meal. I couldn't decide on an entree but finally decided on the bacon shoulder benedict. I am very particular on my bacon and love when it's thick and not too crispy- and this bacon hit the spot. It was perfectly juicy and meaty, and the rest of the benedict was delicious as well. A little too much sauce, but the spicy bacon hollandaise was pretty tasty. I got the fruit instead of the potatoes to attempt to be healthier. My boyfriend got the Lakeview omelet, and this was nice and meaty. All the other brunch dishes looked great, and the portions were nice and big. So we went for lunch during COVID. We arrived around 1:30 and were able to get a table outside (still not ready for inside). The tables are spaced well for social distancing. We came for restaurant week and had a great, enjoyable meal! For 40 dollars per person, it's one of the more generous serving sizes of restaurant week menus that I've seen. We hadn't dined at Crosby's before, but I'd imagine that you're getting what a full order of each dish would be. We had a range of options; for appetizers we had the spinach dip, trout spread, cheese curds, and the Wright wood salad. Nothing to complain about with any of these, and I will say these were all large enough to share! For entrees we had the prime rib, rotisserie chicken, and steak au poivre. The chicken was so delicious - flavorful, juicy, and worth coming back for, and again enough to share. Our only complaint was that the waiter didn't ask how we preferred the steaks cooked, and they came nearly well done with a significant char on top, which wasn't to our liking. For desserts, we got the carrot cake and peanut butter pies and I'd definitely recommend getting all the carrot cake you can eat! It has a thicker consistency, making it taste so fresh and homemade and it definitely was the standout of this dinner! read more

Any restaurant that integrates Yelp's wait list system with their wait system needs to be commended right on the spot. This is a no brainer. Find a place you want to check out on Yelp, jump on the 'L' and get on the wait list. Simple. Get seated in a reasonable amount of time. Visited on a Friday night and it was fairly busy. Wait time was about 35 minutes. Plenty of space to wait; have a drink at the bar. Our server was Allison. Allison is the driver of this 5-star review. She was attentive, conversational and the experience with her felt natural instead of forced niceties. This made for a comfortable experience in a somewhat noisy atmosphere. Her friendliness helped detract from the kids screaming and jumping on each other farther down the way. Tsk tsk to the inattentive parents. Ordered the prime rib. Cooked to perfection at medium rare and the salt and pepper rub on the outside was tasty without being overpowering. Honestly, the runners tried to deliver our main course a little too quickly, but realized that they were ahead of schedule while we were still eating our salads and quickly retreated, with the waiting entrees, back to the kitchen. When we finished our salads and the entree was brought out again, the food did not seem like it had been sitting under a warming lamp. It looked and tasted fresh and as stated before, the prime rib was cooked to perfection, and I'm fussy about my prime rib. The brussel sprouts salad was excellent. The mashed potatoes met expectations and the key lime pie at the end was great. Maybe a touch more butter in the crust but overall it was great. I don't give out five star ratings unless I feel an establishment has actually earned it (I grew up before participation trophies) but tonight's meal and the service with Allison was a solid five-star experience. And for a good reason - service was slow because of how busy they were but food, when it did eventually come out, was pretty delicious! I have my dairy allergy, but the restaurant was very accommodating and I was able to get the chicken sandwich on rye bread which contains no butter! =D The fat girl inside of me couldn't resist the avocado toast so I got that too. I definitely did not regret getting this appetizer and I'd recommend you get it too. I wouldn't dine here if you are in a rush, but it's a nice restaurant in a nice neighborhood to sit down and enjoy a longer brunch at, doubly so if you bring some good company. read more

Oh my gosh! One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. The staff was bright and cheery, Marissa our server in particular. The food was delicious, we got the lobster deviled eggs to start and they were to die for, so much lobster per portion! I got the chicken dip sandwich with some of the best chicken I've ever had, which makes sense since it was roasted right in house! My friend got the cheeseburger and only had incredible things to say about it. We shared the skillet cookie to end the night and it melted in our mouths, so perfectly done. I live in the neighborhood and this is one of my go to spots! Great for groups and family get togethers and is reliably good for a wonderful meal. IMO the lobster deviled eggs are always a great way to start off a meal. They come in a serving of three and you can add one more if you want an even number of eggs to split. I'm also partial to the salads... That are all so good it's hard to pick a favorite! The biscuits are also a great addition to any meal! On a warm day the patio is a great place to dine and/or grab a drink and watch all the neighborhood Southport strollers and dog walkers.
