She was very helpful during the party supplying me with things I'd forgotten and checking in to ensure all was well. I look forward to dropping in for classes in the future. Carly and the team are beyond amazing - very approachable, helpful, and incredibly responsive. The food was delicious, the day was stress-free, everything was beautiful, and we couldn't have imagined a more perfect wedding. A few other points worth nothing: - The bartenders provided through REC made delicious cocktails. - The fact that REC doesn't require purchase of alcohol packages, but instead allows for BYOB directly from a liquor store allowed us to save so much money. - We had REC cater desserts for us (cupcakes, cookies, shooters) and guests kept complimenting how delicious they were. The dessert package is incredibly affordable. You really can't go wrong with REC!

However once we reached the top, there was no need to worry. What a lovely space this was to have an event. There was a reception area for drinks prior to the ceremony. The room was set up nicely with a combination of standing cocktail tables and seating to sit down in. The bar area was set up nicely and was well organized. I was so surprised to see the outdoor space next to the room where the ceremony was held. The room itself was beautiful, but seeing the outdoor greenery made it all the more magical. After the ceremony everyone retired back to the reception area for drinks. I kept trying to figure out where dinner was going to be served. While having drinks, the staff kept walking around with these amazing hors d'oeuvres! I had so many that I almost did not want to have dinner, they were that good. Well color me surprised as the same room we were in for the ceremony was transformed into a dining area, with a second room next to it set up for a band and dancing. The set up for dinner was nice and the food was actually pretty good, I mean clean your plate good. The staff did an excellent job of serving without getting in the way of things. And the speed at which they transformed the room was pretty quick. I am usually not much for wedding events but we had a great time here, in part to the lovely couple, but the venue had a big part to play in it. If I had known about this place and COVID had not been a thing, we could have had The Doctor's 60th here.

An Absolutely Beautiful Venue and an Unforgettable Sweet 16 Experience!…read more I honestly don't even know where to begin when describing our wonderful experience at Chicago Theater Works! My daughter turned 16 this year, and with the economy the way it is, I truly wasn't sure I could give her the Sweet 16 celebration she deserved. My budget was $5,000, and that had to cover EVERYTHING! I initially booked a venue through Peerspace, but I wasn't happy with what they offered or all the additional costs and add-ons. Then I found Chicago Theater Works, and I'm so glad I did! From the very beginning, Dawn made the entire process incredibly easy. She was wonderful to communicate with, answered my questions, walked me through the contract, and made sure I understood everything. She was genuinely helpful and offered suggestions I never would have thought of myself. Let's talk about the venue itself: ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! It's an intimate, elegant space with a bar, cozy little nooks, and a stage that was perfect for my daughter and her court. The venue also provided water, soda, and juices, which was a wonderful bonus. What really sets Chicago Theater Works apart from other venues is everything they offer in one place. Dawn suggested creating a signature mocktail specifically for my daughter's Sweet 16, and it was such a thoughtful, creative touch! They also provided access to a kitchen where we could keep our food warm and offered great suggestions for arranging the space to make everything flow beautifully. They even offered an interior decorator at a reasonable price and a cash-bar bartender at an affordable rate. The decorator helped bring our vision to life, and the venue looked absolutely gorgeous! Everything came together beautifully, and the space was simple, elegant, and exactly what we had envisioned for our daughter's special day. They also offered an in-house DJ, giving us another convenient option. The owners and staff were wonderful to work with, and the entire experience was so much easier than I anticipated. Planning a Sweet 16 is a lot of work, especially when you're trying to stay within a budget, but Chicago Theater Works helped make it possible to create a beautiful, memorable celebration without feeling overwhelmed by the process. As a mom, all you want is to give your child a day they'll remember forever. Chicago Theater Works helped us do exactly that! If you're looking for a beautiful venue for a Sweet 16, birthday party, or other special celebration, I HIGHLY recommend Chicago Theater Works. Don't hesitate to reach out to Dawn. Her guidance, creativity, and willingness to help made such a difference in our experience. Thank you, Chicago Theater Works, for helping us celebrate our daughter's milestone birthday in such a beautiful way. We are truly grateful!

The space itself has a lot of character and is very unique, as it's in an older brick building. In addition to the space having great character, I really like the location. My 'city' friends who want to take a ride share or public transit can easily get to the location, and my 'suburban' friends don't have to drive that far and there's plenty of parking in the area without too much of a walk to the venue. The staff has been great, both setting up the event the weeks and months leading up, and then the day of my events. I paid for service people to tend bar, manage the catered food, and help with setup and takedown, and the staff worked hard to make sure my events went off without a hitch. They have done many events of all different types, so it was really helpful for me to walk through with them when I was planning mine for things like: what things they can provide in terms of serving ware, flatware, plates and dishes, vs the things that I would need to bring like napkins or ice. For the most part, they had everything I needed for a either a small fee or free, so I didn't have to worry about getting a ton of stuff and I knew everything would be covered. There is one downside to the venue, they are on the second floor of a building without an elevator. So bringing things up is a pain, and for guests that have mobility issues that is a problem. But they are very upfront about this, and for me and my needs that was manageable. I would highly recommend this location for any event you are planning, and I can see having another event there myself someday.

UNPROFESSIONAL OWNERSHIP Update: an indication of the lack…read moreof professionalism is the suggestion that I rallied my friends and family to leave low reviews in search of a refund. We already know we aren't getting a refund. The owner made that clear when we tried to remedy the situation with her over the phone. Nicolle was informed of the lack of AC during the event by a staffer who told me herself that she'd contacted Nicolle. Another indicator of her lacking professionalism is the angry emails she sent me regarding my Yelp review - no apology, just anger and threats to have my Yelp account blocked and shut down. She says we toured the venue 6 times... we saw it 3x. Finally, she dismissed the fact that her staffers were unprofessional and didn't know how to tap kegs/mix drinks just because my dad provided a generous tip. If you read the review my dad left (HJ), you'll see that his generous tip does not reflect his dissatisfaction with the service. He's just a generous tipper. I want to start by saying that I had an amazing wedding; definitely the wedding of my dreams thanks to my wedding parties and family. However, the service from the owner Nicolle was just terrible and so unprofessional. When it came to securing a contract or receiving payment, she was on top of the communication. It wasn't until after she met my now-husband and wedding parties that her friendly and responsive demeanor entirely changed. She was condescending and treated us like children. Prior to meeting my entourage, I asked about security and she said that we wouldn't need it unless we wanted it. After meeting my entourage, she told me that since my crowd is mostly younger (it wasn't) she would be contracting security for our event to ensure that we weren't serving alcohol to minors. What an assumption! Whatever age we are, we are paying her and deserve to be treated with respect. Her contract stated that a week prior to the event we would communicate any accommodations or other details for the event, including possible early drop off or arrival of decor. I called her twice and emailed her a follow up - never received a response from her except for her to tell me that she was unable to accommodate us any more - 6 days later & 2 days before my wedding. Her lack of attention to detail could have ruined my day. Bartenders who couldn't tap a keg (she knew we'd have kegs 6 weeks prior to event date) and refused to mix drinks, and her "industrial strength AC" that she promised didn't work throughout the entire 80 degree day and showed "service required." She refused to honor any of these mistakes and stated that there was an event the day after and everything was fine. Maybe a smaller crowd would have been fine but 80 people in suits and cocktail attire were drenched with sweat. Fortunately I had fantastic family and friends who made sure my day was magical. The space is cute but the professionalism is nonexistent and a HUGE headache.
