The Doctor and I were invited to the wedding of a friend of ours that was held at this venue. When we pulled up, I was not sure what to expect as we went into an older building and had to take an escalator to get to the main event. However once we reached the top, there was no need to worry. What a lovely space this was to have an event. There was a reception area for drinks prior to the ceremony. The room was set up nicely with a combination of standing cocktail tables and seating to sit down in. The bar area was set up nicely and was well organized. I was so surprised to see the outdoor space next to the room where the ceremony was held. The room itself was beautiful, but seeing the outdoor greenery made it all the more magical. After the ceremony everyone retired back to the reception area for drinks. I kept trying to figure out where dinner was going to be served. While having drinks, the staff kept walking around with these amazing hors d'oeuvres! I had so many that I almost did not want to have dinner, they were that good. Well color me surprised as the same room we were in for the ceremony was transformed into a dining area, with a second room next to it set up for a band and dancing. The set up for dinner was nice and the food was actually pretty good, I mean clean your plate good. The staff did an excellent job of serving without getting in the way of things. And the speed at which they transformed the room was pretty quick. I am usually not much for wedding events but we had a great time here, in part to the lovely couple, but the venue had a big part to play in it. If I had known about this place and COVID had not been a thing, we could have had The Doctor's 60th here. read more

The weather was beautiful and all the included amenities were great. We loved that we could customize the venue to exactly what we wanted and make it truly ours for the night. Also, the graphic designer Brian was so quick to turn everything around given the tight window we had and made everything match perfectly. Also, the process of choosing a DJ was great. They matched us with our Dj Mando and he made the night so unforgettable to where our guests couldn't stop raving about the music. A more beautiful venue does not exist, we're convinced! From the bright airy windows in the ceremony/reception space, to the large dancefloor, to the art gallery cocktail hour space, to the greenery-filled outdoor garden space, this venue was perfect for our fall wedding! We knew we would likely be enjoying the inside space more predominantly than the outside given the questionable Chicago November weather, but the outdoor space was still much appreciated by our guests who wanted a moment to cool off after breaking it down on the dance floor. We even got some fun night photos as the bride and groom as our photographer was heading out! Spencer was the most amazing venue owner we could have hoped to work with, and was incredibly responsive and flexible throughout the whole process. Like super super responsive. I don't think we ever waited more than a day for an email response from him and gave off this air that as long as a request was reasonable, the sky was the limit for our special day! From our first tour we knew this was the space for us, but every day after just reaffirmed our choice. Almost all of our vendors that we selected ended up having nothing but amazing things to say about the venue and Spencer, and them all knowing eachother definitely made things easier. We had the most incredible venue coordinator on our day, who worked so well with our day-of coordinator and other vendors we felt super comfortable that the whole team could handle any curve ball thrown their way. The space was the perfect size for the seating chart we were hoping for, and the attention to detail was so appreciated (like making the parent's table was perfectly perpendicular to the sweetheart table). Due to Covid, we had to approach this very differently. All our friends had to join us virtually to keep a safe and fun environment. Thanks to Spencer everything went above and beyond my expectations. For a night with a guest list of two people, it still felt like a big celebration and very safe. Thanks to Greenhouse Loft's state-of-the-art AV setup, I was able to patch in our friends and family via Zoom on Greenhouse Loft's video wall. We booked our wedding DJ for the night and it sounded amazing through the Void sound system. The flowers, table design, and food all looked fantastic in the space. The clean modern environment is bright, warm, and timeless. I can't praise Spencer and his crew at Greenhouse Loft enough. One of the best looking and professional venues in the city. read more

We booked the Greenhouse Loft for our 55 person wedding ceremony and reception in December 2022 and could not have been more pleased with the experience! The space was perfect for us and didn't need a lot of decoration to make the venue look incredible. Spencer was very helpful throughout the set-up process and event. We were also thrilled that we could use our own vendors, including using Binny's for the alcohol. For the reception, we combined 2 of the provided tables together to make wider tables and had 6 of those, a 7-piece band, and a dance floor that fit all our guests in the larger section of the main room. The Art Gallery space next to the main room was perfect for the cocktail hour and could have easily fit more than twice as many people. Our guests loved the photo booth, which printed out a strip of 4 photos. No props were provided, but we brought our own and it was great! We also appreciated the included outdoor parking for our guests that drove to the wedding. DJ Duke (provided by the venue) was great and kept us dancing after the band finished their set. We would absolutely recommend booking your wedding at Greenhouse Loft. read more

Even though we ended up not choosing Greenhouse as our wedding venue, this is an absolutely GORGEOUS space with the kindest people running it. It was a tough decision not to choose Greenhouse, and quite honestly I would have been 100% happy here. They do have an option of seven caterers that you have to choose from, and that was really the only downfall. Tacking on $12,000 minimum for food on top of the $5,000 rental fee at Greenhouse already started us at high preliminary costs without any of the customizations that I wanted to make my wedding my own. However, tables, chairs and linens are all included in the Greenhouse cost, as well as exclusive access to the outdoor and indoor space, which has TONS of natural lighting. Not the best views, as it is just office space surrounding you, but it is still green nonetheless! If you're not picky about catering or are willing to spend $$$ for all of the unique customizations, I would HIGHLY consider choosing Greenhouse! read more

Greenhouse Lofts: Stunning, stubborn, and smile STUNNING As you can see from photos the greenhouse Lofts which is absolutely beautiful. At first we thought it was weird that you had to go up an escalator in a strip mall to get to the room but it's totally worth it for the lofty venue, the gorgeous greenery, and the nice courtyard - which was our main selling point compared to other locations. We were able to have guests in the courtyard while we flipped the venue from wedding to reception and it worked out perfectly. Our southern guests were a little chilly but they survived. STUBBORN: We worked with a few contacts over the course of 1.5 years of planning at greenhouse and for the most part they were just stubborn. Sometime terse or slow to respond or unwilling to work together on things such as questions about layouts, band locations, lighting availability, etc. It all worked out in the end but about once a month my husband and I would be cursing when opening emails from the Greenhouse Lofts contact. They admit upfront that they have strict rules but some of their reps lack basic customer service skills like active listening, empathy, and working toward common solutions. Nothing to the point that would ruin an event but just a bit frustrating. Overall worked out. PHOTO BOOTH One of the absolute best things about our wedding was the giant room of a photo booth offered at greenhouse Lofts. We skipped the cheesy hipster props and made our own custom props. The guy running the booth (who also owns the venue) was very grumpy but his photos turned out great. The guests loved being able to walk out with a printed photo and it was certainly worth the investment. The photo booth is expensive but WORTH EVERY PENNY and it captures your guests in their own time so it's different than what your Photog will capture. Do it. Thank us later. read more

The Greenhouse Loft is the ideal wedding venue. From the first meeting, I was in love. The space is both cozy and classy- exactly what I was going for. My wedding of 175 people on December 29, 2019, can only be described as magical, thanks to the help of Kim and all of the GHL staff. Kim, the point-person for my event, is incredibly intuitive and experienced which meant that leading up to the wedding she knew all the right questions to ask and the day-of she was prepared for any and all complications. Spencer is also very helpful! He was the first person I met with before booking the venue. If you go with GHL you do not need to worry about hiring a wedding day-of coordinator (at least in regards to the reception. Our ceremony was off-site) Additionally, I love that they have a partnership with Style Matters DJs. It made my life so much easier as I didn't have to go out and find a DJ. (Shoutout to Chris, who kept everyone dancing ALL night) I really love the fact that they don't have hidden fees. The rental fee includes the use of their photo booth, tables, chairs, candle treatment, and DJ. The venue itself is gorgeous and their photo booth was such a hit!! The photo booth printed out two photo strips each time so I had a photo book as my guest book and it was so much fun to see all the pictures everyone took. The attached courtyard is beautiful, but it was much too cold for anyone to go outside. They hung strings of bistro lighting outside which added to the cozy aesthetic I love so much. The complementary candle treatment they offer is also very nice because many venues in the city want you to pay extra for it. GHL is a pleasure to work with. I have already recommended them to several of my friends! P.S. My only frustration was that there weren't many examples of past event set-ups so I hope my photos help someone! read more

Long story short, we ended up at getting married at Greenhouse Loft, Ovation's sister venue due to COVID and government event size restrictions. We originally fell in love with Ovation because of how gorgeous and spacious it is (we both had large invite lists and were planning for about 200!) But when we didn't need as much space, Spencer made the transition easy. Both venues are beautiful, the event teams are professional, their DJ sound systems and add on services are top notch, and you honestly could not ask for more beautiful wedding day back drops for your photos. Their flexibility and support during these times were so appreciated and we had a wonderful wedding day. I've attached photos of our social distanced set up. If you are thinking about doing a "micro wedding" you cannot beat this. We had 30 people and everyone felt very safe with the indoor/outdoor flow and the ample space we had to continue to social distance to everyone's comfort level. I can only imagine Ovation would have been just as lovely, but we personally wanted to try something new after plans fell through. And I cannot thank their team enough for the support. We love GHL! We just had our wedding there this April and could not have been more pleased! There are so many things we love about the space. The outdoors area for a ceremony and cocktail hour, the cute greenroom/bridal suite, the DJ that's included in the wedding package (no one could get off the dance floor the music was THAT good!), the photo booth and even the cute art studio/space that can also be used for cocktail hour. It was great! The staff is also wonderful and so helpful the day of the wedding. I didn't hire a coordinator and they helped me with timing and moving guests and things along during the wedding. I also do love that the building is handicap accessible. They have an elevator that can take people upstairs to the venue if need be! The only thing I wish could be different is that since our wedding was on a Friday we couldn't start until 6pm. It's not the venues fault, instead it is because the building also has offices inside and work on Fridays goes until 5pm. It was a minor detail that wasn't an issue but more of a personal preference of mine. We still had an amazing wedding and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND GHL for your wedding! read more

My husband and I got married on August 31st at Greenhouse Loft. Here is every single reason why GHL made it the best day of our lives: - The actual venue is absolutely breathtaking. It's unlike every other venue in the city and I still get compliments from our guests about it. - The garden! Oh my gosh the garden. We used it for our cocktail hour and it was absolutely perfect. There was plenty of room for everyone (approx. 120 guests plus staff) and the bench seating was a great idea for them to install. I could rave about this garden all day. - The professionalism. Never once did I feel neglected or left in the dark. Let's be realistic here... they pretty much have 2 weddings a WEEK. Jamie & Ellen always responded to my emails within hours, answered questions, offered suggestions, etc. They're the nicest people in the biz. - The photography! We used GHL Photography (pictures posted!) and they came about absolutely beautiful. There were pictures that took my breath away. The rates are totally on-par with what you'd pay with any photographer in Chicago, but Jamie and Steve KNOW this venue. They know the lighting. They know the best angles. They know the go-to shots. Plus, since they own the venue, you'll have pictures until the very end of the night. One of my absolute favorite pictures of my husband and I was from the very last song that was played. You never have to worry about a timing restriction. Hire them for your peace of mind. - The photobooth! OMG, the photobooth. I still have guests raving about this. Steve did such a great job capturing all of our guests personalities. I could go on and on about GHL. Looking back, there is not a single thing I would change, and I owe a majority of that to GHL. This review is based solely on my interactions with Meghan and the owner. My now husband and I booked this venue for our wedding last June. Unfortunately my aunt that raised me couldn't make the trip to Chicago and we reached out to Meghan by phone to cancel our reservation. We called 11 and a half months before our wedding and Meghan's assistant answered and told me Meghan would call me back. I never heard from Meghan. A week later she sends us an email with the cancellation form urging us to sign it so they could book the night for another couple. The fact that she couldn't be bothered to call back and ask why were canceling. This place only cares about your money. There's plenty of beautiful event spaces in Chicago. Avoid this one unless you don't mind that who you're booking with only cares about the money and could care less about one of the most important days in your life. read more

I booked GHL for my wedding on 11/2/19. Overall I loved it - the space is absolutely beautiful - we bought the candle package which looked stunning at night. The set up was exactly what we asked for and they worked really well with all the vendors, specifically our caterer, Big Delicious Planet. Ownership of GHL changed midway through the planning process/after we booked - the new owner did a ton of upgrades to the space (new DJ booth, sound system, bridal suite and photo booth) - we got all these perks for free, which was amazing. They also let us come early on the day of to take some of the wedding party and family photos- we had planned to take these outside but it was too cold and they were super flexible/accommodating with us. My only 2 issues were - first, our point person from the venue was really kind, but ended up having emergency dental surgery 2 weeks before our date. While this was obviously unplanned no one from the venue reached out to let us know so I just stopped getting responses from her in the 2 weeks before the date. I would just recommend they have a back up plan for these situations to at least let people know. And second, on the night of there was an issue with the GHL microphone. My mom made a speech and my husband sang a song with the mariachi band and the mic kept dropping in and out, which was pretty distracting/took away from the speech/song. The DJ approached us, apologizing profusely, and let us know the venue had not let him use his own mic. After the issue the DJ replaced the mic with his own and everything was fine the rest of the night. But no one from GHL approached us about it or ever apologized for the issue. Definitely recommend using the DJs equipment instead of GHL. read more

We selected Greenhouse Loft for our wedding on 9/8/18, and it was the absolute best decision we could have made! GHL is the only space that we looked at when we were searching for a venue, and we immediately decided to book after the initial walkthrough. The space is modern, urban, open and airy. The glass walls surrounding the venue allow in tons of natural light, and look out directly into the beautiful courtyard that we used for our cocktail hour. This venue is also Platinum LEED Certified, and we so appreciated their commitment to sustainability, both in how they operate (composting, recycling, etc.) and the vendors they recommended. The entire team we worked with was incredibly accommodating. We have odd work schedules, so they allowed our final walkthrough to be done early. All chairs and tables were included, and they also provided easels for our signage at no additional cost. We were able to drop off our stuff prior to the wedding a day early, which was incredibly helpful! Rain was in the forecast for our big day, and they were great about putting together a full Plan B (which we fortunately did not need, but appreciated that it was in place)! When booking, definitely add on the candle package...the candles provided an incredible glow in the room that added to the beauty of the space. We received so many compliments from our guests about how amazing the space is and how perfect it was for the entire wedding. The team worked seamlessly with all of our vendors, and if there were any issues, we and our guests had no idea! We're so happy we chose this venue, and would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a great venue in the city! read more

I love GHL! My wife and I held our wedding and reception here on 12/05/2015, and we were both so incredibly pleased with the entire event, thanks in large part to everyone at Greenhouse Loft. It goes without saying that the space is absolutely beautiful - the lighting and candle package (totally worth it!) looked amazing, especially with the clear winter evening out of the floor-to-ceiling windows and the vintage wood floors. From our first visit, Jamie, Meghan, Eric, Steve and the whole bunch were so friendly and helpful that planning the wedding felt easy and smooth. They were so quick to answer the silliest of questions, and provided so many great pieces of expert advice that more than a few of our guests raved for weeks afterwards about how amazing the night was. We also hired Jamie and Eric as our photographers, and had Steve in the photo studio throughout the night. These guys know their stuff! They helped out scout downtown locations (we lucked out with amazing weather for winter in Chicago and ended up at the Wrigley Building, on some bridges over the river, and at the Chicago Cultural Center) and captured so many great shots of the wedding itself, from start to finish. Jamie and Eric spent the entire day with the wedding parties and fit in like old friends. They were all friendly and professional. The pictures from the Photo Studio are great - hilarious and heartwarming, and leaps and bounds above any rental photo booth I've seen at any other wedding. We ended up with so many (well over 1000!) amazing photos that will allow us and our family and friends to relive the night for years to come. I cannot say enough good things about Greenhouse Loft. All it takes is one visit to realize how great a space it is, and all it takes is one meeting to know that your event will be taken care of by an amazing group of people. Overall nice venue and good service. However, i have issue with a server who really didn't do a good job. We asked for extra food for kids and she said yes but never came back. We asked if we can pack some leftovers and she said yes and never came back. Then we asked another server if we can pack some leftovers. She went to check and said sorry they did not have anything to pack leftovers in. I find this pretty awful you could not take good leftover food home and either they throw them away or the servers are taking them home. read more

From the elegant foyer with interesting art, to the beautiful room that spills into an outdoor space. Everything about this room was spot on. We attended a wedding reception here. Not knowing what it cost, I can only say it was ok from a guest's point of view. The wedding party rented the space, then hired an approved caterer - in this case, The Hearty Boys, and they did a fine job. The food was in the average category, and the space is quite loud. The large building they are in is apparently known to be environmentally friendly. They have a garage, but there's also lots of free parking on the street (didn't know there was this much left in Chicago!). read more

Came here for a wedding a few days ago and it was a pleasant experience and a great space for a the small, intimate ceremony that my gf and I went to. The space was just right with half of it for the reception, half for the ceremony/dance floor. By far, what I was impressed with most was the outdoor area for cocktail hour. A great open air spot for wedding photos and mingling, it's hard to believe that this used to be an old lamp factory when you're standing there an open air space,hearing the traffic go by on the Kennedy. The caterers/servers were extremely professional and friendly. They went out of their way for the three kids at the wedding. They were quick to pick up but made sure that everyone was finished. A plus is that they served Two Brothers' which is perfect for what their goal is: quality products from local businesses. Awesome spot. read more

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at GHL on July 24, and we are so happy we did! The space was absolutely stunning (DEFINITELY get the candle package if you choose this place), and it was the perfect size for our 150 guests (though I feel like more than 170 guests would be very cramped if you're into dancing). Meghan was our coordinator and she is super organized and responsive! We planned our wedding from out-of-state, but she was very prompt and detailed in answering all our questions and communications. On our wedding day, she collaborated so well with our vendors that it seemed as though magical elves were just making everything run smoothly. You might be worried that GHL does not do rehearsals, but I promise you, YOU WILL NOT EVEN NEED IT. Another *must* is the photo booth. We decided to add it on at the last minute, and at our reception, it was a HUGE hit! We got the pictures about two weeks after our wedding, and they are breathtaking! The clean but warm look of the space is great -- some loft venues feel dark but not Greenhouse with white walls, those beautiful floors, and all that natural light. The rental price is creeping up year by year, but -- especially if you use other Green Alliance vendors who know the space very well -- you will not need a wedding planner or that much decor. We decided to go with Greenhouse Loft for our wedding in June 2018 because it had the perfect combination in indoor and outdoor space we were looking for in the city. We had the dinner and dancing inside and the wedding ceremony and cocktails outside. The one thing that worried us about the outdoor space was the trains going by, but it wasn't as big a deal as the when the actual ceremony was going on as the trains go by very fast. Our ceremony was close to an hour (Indian wedding). We would highly recommend the candle package as it adds a beautiful romantic touch in the night In the end, GHL was a wonderful location, the right place for our party of about 100 guests, conveniently located in the city and a beautiful indoor and outdoor space. My daughter and son-in-law got married at wonderful Greenhouse Loft on an October Friday. Our initial concerns about a Friday evening were totally unfounded--just a few people declined the invitation. Guests arrived ready to party, saying it was nice to have the whole weekend ahead! The space is beautiful! From ceremony onward, the well-planned layout provides a nice flow for guests. The gallery was very comfortable for cocktails. A built-in bar in the center of the room accommodates 2 or 3 bartenders, and there's lots of sitting and standing room. Greenhouse Loft at dinner? Magical. Candlelight reflected on those long, lovely windows is amazing! This clean, blank slate with great wood floors and an airy feel is so nice that little decorating was needed--just centerpieces, the GHL candle package, and re-purposed ceremony arrangements. The granite console made a nice sweets table, and there's great space for dancing. The staff is all about making your event a success! Meghan's organization skills, communication, and responsiveness made logistics smooth and easy! My daughter also hired an independent day-of coordinator, which is optional. Jamie and Eric of GHL Photography shot stunning documentary photos. Such talented and nice people! And the Ultimate Photobooth was a major hit! It's well beyond the standard, and Steve's outstanding 5 x 7 prints made great favors. In social media, the evening was described as "a wedding done right" & "epic". To have earned that praise, my daughter & SIL owe a lot to Greenhouse Loft. Do yourself a favor. Talk to the pros. Don't worry if you can't get a Saturday or a summer date. My husband and I got married here in July 2019, and it was beautiful and easy. We booked about ten months out for a Friday wedding. Day of, the space was absolutely gorgeous (no decor really needed) and just what we were looking for--something with outdoor space that still felt like Chicago. We knew we wanted to get married outside, and the green space did not disappoint! I highly recommend the candle package because they were beyond beautiful. Our vendor, Hearty Boys, which we found through GHL was fantastic. The only hiccups we had dealt with GHL team. I'm not sure if it's because of the transition in ownership this summer, but we talked to different people from GHL each time we reached out, leaving us feel like no one was in charge of the space for our wedding date. To me, it would make sense to have one person in charge of each event as a point person. The day of, the GHL representative working told my husband that we needed to take our arch home that night. In my opinion, something like that needed to be discussed much earlier so we could make arrangements, not on our wedding night (because who wants to deal with that?). Luckily, my dad handled it. Then, they were very adamant about picking up the rest of our belongings only on one day of the week, the day we were leaving for our honeymoon. When I tried to schedule a time to get our stuff that morning, there was no response. We went, and no one was there. My mom ending up having to go because we left for our trip, and there was nothing to pick up... I don't know where all of our vases went, but in the end, it was only $120 worth of stuff. I wish they were more organized and communicative, but I realize that changing ownership mid-wedding season is probably pretty hectic. read more

Where do I start! This year has been a ROUGH year! My fiancé and I finally got engaged after 9 years of dating! We were soooooo excited and fell in love with the GHL. We planned to get married in August but due to COVID we decided to postpone it. I been emailing with Spencer back and forth about my concern with COVID restrictions, and he been beyond outstanding! Not only did I postpone my wedding once, but TWICE! I'm super indecisive and Spencer been so helpful and understanding during this whole process! With his help, we have decided to postpone my wedding to June! What really blew my mind is that he offered to let me use their sister venue, Ovation, at a reasonable rate since GHL is booked till November. Ovation was out my budget, but now I cant believe my dream wedding might actually come true! If you guys are still searching for venues in Chicago, I HIGHLY recommend you look at GHL or Ovation! Perfect! The space, the staff, the night. It was all perfect! The goal for the wedding was to be a relaxed, classic atmosphere that represented our love of Chicago. Greenhouse Loft fit all our expectations and more. We were the first wedding in the space and Jamie and Steve went above and beyond to make sure our wedding went off without a hitch. From the food, the photos, the opportunity to design the space all of it was seamless. I'll comment on a few things and if you should have any questions please don't hesitate to message me. We would love to share about the experience we had at Greenhouse Loft because it honestly met all our expectations. The vendors. I met with quite a few of the caterers and ultimately went with Fig but all the recommended vendors were easy to work with, understood the possibilities for the space and could design an event according to our preferences. The guests said the food was the "best" wedding food they have ever eaten. The caterer even made sure my husband and I had time to enjoy the food. It was great! The photos. The absolute favorite part of our wedding. The photo studio where guests could take their own photos was the highlight of the night. Guests really enjoyed being able to "dress up" with the props and hats. And, the photos - pre-ceremony, ceremony, and reception really captured the spirit of our night to a T. I would highly recommend utilizing the photo services of Jamie and Steve they are excellent. The booze. We were able to use Binny's for our bar. My understanding is that in the future there will be liquor packages. Seeing how the caterers worked out though I'm sure the liquor package would be well worth it as well. The music. We went with a DJ however there was plenty of space for a live band. We loved Toast and Jam! They were able to get a "feel" for the night and kept everyone on the dance floor. Bottom line. Greenhouse Loft was a perfect choice for us. It was almost a one-stop shop in order to find the ultimate space for the ceremony and reception, the photographer, caterer, and music. All the key elements of the wedding. The recommendations that Jamie and Steve had for us were spot on. Since they have worked with all the vendors before it truly was a seamless night. I did not need to hire a wedding planner since the vendors knew each other so well and knew how to keep the wedding going. Our family and friends had a great time and loved the atmosphere with the open styling, wood flooring, enclosed glass. We really could not have asked for anything more! read more

Just attended a friend's wedding at Greenhouse Loft so I am writing this review as a guest to an event - no experience working with the venue personally. This space is unique, charming, and the perfect size for a classy, intimate wedding. The Greenhouse Loft really is beautiful. It's clean and bright, with wood floors and top to bottom windows. The ceremony and reception were in the same spot and the staff was able to transform the room. I had vegetarian crepes as my meal and was very happy with them. I also noticed that a handful of bride and groom photos were posted on Greenhouse Loft's instagram and they were so good! Overall impressed with the venue! read more

We love Greenhouse Loft! After looking around at many other venues in the city, it was clear that GL was the place for our wedding. We loved how clean and wide open it felt, with both indoor and outdoor space. A lot of other venues around town may seem to cost a little less but then they nickle and dime you for EVERYTHING additional (things like uplighting and curtains to divide the room). GL has tastefully (and permanently) installed those items, which gives a good starting point while still leaving you the opportunity to personalize the space. The outdoor space was great for our cocktail hour and a relatively rare find in Chicago wedding venues. Our wedding was on a Friday night and we were worried about street parking availability but everyone seemed to find a spot with no problem. GL and their staff were very accomodating during the planning process, quick to respond to the million questions I sent their way through both email and phone calls. We were able to do walkthroughs with our vendors before the wedding so we felt comfortable that everyone was on the same page. GL was also a great help with coordination and set-up the day of the wedding. Jamie and Steve also did our photography and we're so happy with the results. Jamie was great to work with, helping us pick out the locations to take pictures beforehand and getting lots of great action shots through the night. Steve's photobooth was a huge hit, we got some really memorable shots and everyone had a great time with the hats and props. Overall we were so happy with our choices and would do it again if we had it to do over. read more

Greenhouse Loft is simply amazing for any kind of event. My husband and I were looking for venues for our wedding and we found GL back when it was still under construction (literally). We were really impressed with the green tech and we were really excited about the loft itself. We could tell that Jamie and Steve had a wonderful vision for it and it turned out way better than expected. The reclaimed floors are beautiful, there's a lot of light in the open space, the loft has an outdoor garden/sitting area, and the small details like light fixtures and lounge furniture are perfect. Its a great space with a relaxing atmosphere. It was really easy to work with GL, we corresponded by email and phone with no problem. They have a list of preferred vendors which made it easier for us since we didn't have to look far for everything we needed. We had initially thought we had a limited list to choose from, but we came to realize all the vendors are top notch so there's really no worries there. They were also really helpful in coordinating and setting up the event so my husband and I had nothing to worry about on the day of. We had Jamie and Steve to photograph our wedding and reception, and the pictures are awesome. The photobooth was popular with our guests and everyone had a lot of fun with it. They also captured a lot of candid moments and made everyone look good. GL will not disappoint! We're really happy with them and would definitely recommend them for any event. read more

After spending the weekend pouring over photographs and videos with our family from my daughter's wedding, I felt bad about not writing this review sooner. There is so much to say about the beautiful space and fabulous staff at the Greenhouse Loft. My daughter's wedding was on a Friday night in August. We had a beautiful cloud free summer day and evening which showcased GHL perfectly. The simplicity of the venue really makes it stunning. You can certainly dress GHL up but with the votive candles and the soft lighting, lush outdoor space you need little to make this place perfect for any wedding. You don't need a wedding planner and you don't need to spend thousands decorating. Ellen, Jamie and Steve's, right hand person is a fantastic. We hired Jamie and Steve to do the photography both onsite and off. They were simply incredibly great to work with. We also hired them to do the photo booth, which is not your ordinarily photo booth. Our guests loved the theatrics and they left with some fabulous shots. I would encourage every bride and groom to take advantage of this package. It cost less than buying favors if you are thinking about do that and guests not only have fun but get a piece of your wedding to take home! They also make great thank you cards. You have many choices for catering and we chose FIG , a farm to table caterer that works very well with GHL. They did a fabulous job and you could tell that everything was well synchronized. It could not have gone any better. The table layouts, food choices and scheduling of all the speeches etc were done together with all the vendors, my daughter, her husband and myself. It went just as planned. There is a small waiting room for make up refreshing. One big plus was the number of rest rooms, far more than any other venue we visited. Guests will not have to wait in line to use the restrooms. This is a big plus when you have a larger guest list. Steve has some great furniture pieces that are placed around the venue in various places and comes in handy when older guests get tired and would like a more "comfy" spot to relax during the reception. He does this for free. We had a pre reception outside where guests could get a drink before the ceremony and then were ushered inside when the ceremony was about to begin. This was great as we had some guests stuck in traffic and needed the extra 15 minutes to allow people to unwind and mingle. We also had our cocktail hour outside after the ceremony and it was perfect for passing horderves. We also had a steel band during the cocktail hour and the acoustics were great. Instead of flowers on the dining tables we choose different food displays which really helped guests get settled before the buffet was ready. With all the colors from the different food choices they made the tables look incredible. Our guest count was 130 and GHL was perfect for us. Our guests loved GHL and could not stop talking about it. We bought all our liquor from Binny's. They delivered and also picked up the leftover beer we over ordered for a refund. Again, seamless. There is plenty of room for a DJ or small five piece band. There is also a lot of parking available and plenty of cabs. The security staff will call one for you if you need one.
