I found out about Wet Paint Chicago through Groupon. You register online ahead of time & pick which painting you are interested in (we planned about a month ahead because classes fill up fast). My girlfriends and I signed up for the Peacock painting. Finding the studio was a bit tricky, but luckily they answered the phone right away and met us at the door. The room has long tables and are set up with canvases, stands, brushes.. the works. This class is BYOB so come prepared with your favorite drinks- the ladies next to us brought snacks so there's an idea for next time! In the back there is a small bar provided with wine glasses and openers. Each seat has a good view of the instructor. It was nice that the helpers replenished our water during class and offered to bring us more paint. They played upbeat music which was enjoyable. A beautiful concoction of GNO, fine wine, paint, and laughter equals a fantabulous night! I highly recommend Wet Paint Chicago because I had the most wonderful experience with my best girlfriends. I never knew I would be able to create such a cool piece of art and drink wine at the same time. It was a bit tricky finding the location because it is inside the Bridgeport Art Gallery. You can find parking in back then you go up to the 4th floor and through the gallery into a room where blank canvases are set up for your class! I recommend arriving early so you can reserve your seats. Our class' theme was to draw a peacock. The instructor was very helpful and informative and kept assuring us that no matter how our peacock turned out it is art and it is beautiful! Me and my girlfriends were shocked that we all made unique yet pretty peacocks after all the 5 bottles of wine we consumed. After the 5th bottle, the instructor suggested nicely that we get a private party. Haha but we were not offended because we knew we were getting a bit chatttttty. Again, I can't stress enough about how much fun me and my girls had. They usually have deals on groupon, youswoop, and even yelp - so check them out! Whether you're looking for a great unique time out with your friends or trying to find the inner-artist in you ...... I definitely recommend Wet Paint Chicago. My boyfriend and I went to Wet Paint last night to paint the "Colorful Tree" painting. We had so much fun! I didn't know what to expect since I had never been to a BYOB painting class before. Once we arrived, we were told to sit in the bar area and enjoy our drinks and snacks. The class started at 7pm, but you don't start painting until 7:30 (the first half hour is for drinking, mingling, and getting settled in). I was nervous to paint since I'm not much of a drawer, but the instructor and owners are extremely helpful. We had a blast! The instructor lets you work at your own pace and allows time to help students if needed. It was nice to be able to paint without feeling rushed. Around 9:30, the formal class transitions to an end, and the last half hour is for finishing touches, finishing drinks, and cleaning up the work station. Be forewarned that this place can be tricky to find. It's inside the Bridgeport Art Center on the 4th floor. The parking lot is directly behind it (north). You enter where it says "Bridgeport Art Center" in the back, and walk up the stairs to the fourth floor. Go down the hallway and turn right. You may think you stumbled into an art gallery... but in the back corner you'll see all the canvases set up for the class. Tricky to get to, but well worth the time! It was an awesome date night and we would definitely go back. read more

I went with a group of almost 20 ladies...my only wish is we could have gotten a discount or groupon deal. They provide wine glasses, ice, and cork openers. I have been to Wet Paint Chicago five times and am already planning future visits. I have the best time every single time I step into the room. The atmosphere of the entire area, from the Society Lounge to the classroom section is completely relaxing and comfortable. Both the owners and all the artists do their best to make you feel at home whenever you're there. As a BYOB establishment, Wet Paint Chicago is a great place to spend a night out with friends, especially if you're looking for something new and different to do. It's also a great deal because your canvas and an endless supply of paint is included in the price of a class. Also, there are tons of paintings to choose from. The monthly calendar is posted on the website, so you have a large selection of paintings to choose from. Plus, they are always open to suggestions for different paintings to do. Every time I've gone, I have left feeling extremely proud of my work. The artists take you step by step through the painting. They are very easy to follow and are always patient. If you have a question, they are always eager to offer help and encouragement. I honestly feel like an artist myself as soon as I tie on my smock. Planning a party? Wet Paint Chicago can travel to you or you can travel to them. Just tell them how many people and which painting you want to do, and they will make it happen. At first I wasn't loving it, but by the end it was fun. The place is hard to find. I'd never been to the Bridgeport Art Center before and took 10 minutes to find Wet Paint's location once I was there, and another 5 to 10 to find my way out at the end of the night. I arrived at 6:50 for the 7 p.m. class. No one greeted me, no one told me what to do when I got there. Some other class attendants were already drinking the wine they brought. So I sat down and did the same. At 7:15 the instructor finally showed up and told everyone we'd be starting in 15 minutes. So basically I sat there for 40 minutes. Maybe if I was meeting up with people, that time would be good for catching up. But I guess I felt like I could've drank and talked at home or at a restaurant just the same. I was looking for more of a laid back vibe and instead people were shouting at each other and carrying on. Maybe I just wasn't drinking enough. The instructor, Patty, was helpful and I think with her help I actually painted something I like. I don't consider myself artistic and almost failed 6th grade art, so this is a big deal. Now that I know what to expect, I think I might go on a weekend with friends as something fun to do. read more

I got a deal on Groupon and went with a group of friends. It was so much fun, Merry and Emily were extremely nice and welcoming. There was awesome music playing while we painted. It's BYOB, so we enjoyed ourselves! I painted once before in high school for an art class but I barely remember any techniques I learned. The instructor made it very easy to learn. My boyfriend and I went for my birthday. We had a great time (especially the byob part!) We did have a hard time finding this place then had to call to tell them we were at the door (a bit scary) Once we got inside, we fell in love with the art gallery which held their classroom within. Our class had 2 other couples in it which was nice and relaxing. It did seem like it was our instructors first day on the job, she didn't verbally communicate well. This was a great outing for girl's night. All of the girl's were nervous at first. There is a misconception that you have to be artsy to do something like this. Not True! Everyone who participated created a beautiful painting. The studio was very comfortable, very nicely decorated and the staff was very nice. There was an art show set up in the adjacent common area so it was like haveing a painting party in an art museum. The teacher was alot of fun and shared some great stories with us as she taught. The studio was BYOB and that definately made for a more relaxed evening. I would definately come back here again and this will be my go to for another girl's night out, Kid's Birthday party or even a date night . read more

The class was packed. In the end it was fun. The reason I only state 'ok' is because the instructor was rushing through the painting. Everyone was still on drawing with a pencil and she was like ok done with the pencil let's paint. Then she got so into her painting she just stopped talking by the end. So, pretty much my friend and I just did our own thing and the painting ended up coming out descent. When we first walked in no one really greeted us it was kind of just come in and find a spot. Which is find I don't mind the casual atmosphere. The girls that were running the class were drinking beers and walking in and out while we were painting to talk to people outside of the room. The class was extremely hot so make sure to wear lighter clothing or you may pass out. All in all I would do it again just probably somewhere else. read more
