I have NOT been to any of the theater performances that are there now, so I will not address those here. I have been coming here for over a decade now for the 2nd Fridays studio art openings. The view alone is great, but the sounds of musicians practicing is good too. They have the finest old violins display, dance studios, mini concerts, yoga, and sometimes jewelry makers. If you can visit a studio with an east view of lake Michigan, you're so lucky you won't be disappointed, but people don't just come for the views. There's a great old elevator with an operator (!) that you have to instruct for what floor you want. We usually go to the top and walk down. You can go inside some small rooms or very large rooms, chat with the artist, enjoy wine or snacks. It's like an indoor art walk, which can be a plus in the cold weather. A highlight is the December openings, with activities and openings on every floor! Try not to get too attached to 1 artist though, as renting space is expensive, and some artists come and go there, while others stick around. .

It was a delight to relax and learn about our beautiful moon. Lots of cool exhibits, some interactive and some hands on play for kids. If you or a family member have the slightest passion for space, this is 10/10.

There were a bunch of reviews saying how parts of exhibits were closed or in disrepair/not functioning. There were some things that were closed off, but generally our kids were able to interact with a lot of the museum. There was a fun space rover that you could actually sit in to steer and drive, which was hilarious. Other simulators allow you to actually control a robot rover as if you're in the station and exploring the terrain. They also have craft stations for a wide age range. It wasn't crazy crowded (which is great), it's small enough that you can see almost everything you want with just a morning trip, and make it back in time for naps or pick a secondary attraction without feeling rushed. I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun we had. Plus, it's probably the most affordable of all the museums, and I feel like we get our money's worth because we got to see everything at our own leisure. Go give the planetarium some love!

I was surrounded by such positive, welcoming people of all ages. Throughout the night, we sang karaoke, played cards, shot pool and listened to good music. What really stood out to me was how safe, inclusive, and comfortable the environment felt. Everyone was so kind and genuine. But what truly touched my heart was how the community embraced my brother, who is special needs. There was no judgment only acceptance, laughter, and open arms. For the first time in a long time, I didn't feel like I had to be on guard, watching to make sure he was being treated with respect because everyone just welcomed. It was a relaxing night filled with connection and joy. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, warm, and safe space. Thank you for such an unforgettable expeience.

LBP provided the space, catered the food (via their onsite cafe, Carver 47), connected us to amazing balloon and floral vendors, and provided other accoutrements (e.g., tables and chairs, table coverings, a stage, sound and tech support, package management). LBP's one-stop shop especially helpful given that our planning team resided outside of Chicago. There is so much to applaud from the experience: the warm and inviting space exuded elegance; the feast was as beautiful as it was delicious; and the LBP team's interactions with us (from planning to completion) was the epitome of grace and hospitality. They accommodated every request and did so with an exceptional level of excellence. When we asked that the menu include a vegetarian and Halal dish, they ensured guests had multiple options. When we requested assistance erecting our banner, they took on the task of assembling the entire structure, even machine washing and drying it when they noticed a stain. Compared to other spaces we considered (and have used in the past) across the city, LBP's offerings and support stood head and shoulders above and their love was palpable in their attention to details. That they have a heart-centered mission and work in support of youth and community was tasty icing on an already amazing cake. Thank you, Little Black Pearl team, for making our event a world-class experience!

There was something for everyone. There was a group tour at the Glessner House. They have music performances and holiday events. The Second Presbyterian Church had some amazing Tiffany stained glass windows that could not be seen from the outside. From the outside, it was covered by plexi glass. What a treasure trove. The South Asia Institute, I had no idea that it exists. We saw an environment focused exhibit on bird migration and an exhibit of women artists' work. There is a big lecture space so something to look out for. I did not know that the Wheeler Mansion is a boutique hotel. The rooms are fancy. There was plenty of art there for those who enjoy art. We had apple cider at the McCormick Place Rooftop Farm. It was bigger than I thought. They had edible flowers for tasting and I tried nasturtium (a little spicy), marigold, and pansy (light flavor). They even gave us each a pack of wildflower seeds. I took some milkweed, so hopefully will see some Monarch butterflies next year. All these places were walkable from each other. All in all, a wonderful day and experience.

I know the sizes vary quite a bit between the ones I mentioned- but in terms of what I consider to be proper Chinatown's. I purposely didn't mention LA Chinatown but that's another story. Anyway, Chicago's Chinatown has really good food options and parking and prices are cheaper than back home in the bay so that's why I'm giving it 5 stars. I never shop, so I'm not factoring that in. Prices, food options and variety and ease of transportation and parking- top 7 in the world as far as chinatowns go- outside of Asia, obviously. There's still a strong Chinese identity here, and though it's not called home by as many folks of Chinese descent as it once was, there are plenty who still feel a strong tie to the neighborhood (for instance, my SO's sister in law, who immigrated from China and feels a connection here). Having said that, it isn't the most pleasant place to shop. Parking can be a nightmare around here so if you don't live nearby or take the el, that can be a deterrent. Many of the stores and bakeries are cash-only businesses, and that's just not how I like to do pay--and if I do I'd be able to visit maybe one store before I'm out of cash and then done shopping. But if you want authentic Chinese food, as opposed to the Americanized version (not knocking it, since that's what I prefer) or are looking for Asian ingredients and culture, you'll find it here.
