Amazing beauty awaits you inside the cultural center. We went to view the Tiffany dome and it did not disappoint! The history of this 129 year old building is impressive.

Had to stop by here when I was traveling in Chicago. It's easily located across from where the bean is. It's free! Just walk in and enjoy the sites, especially the amazing dome.

Very cool, beautiful, and historic building in Chicago with free tours. Definitely recommend visiting as it's right in the heart of the city. They also have some interesting exhibits.

Gorgeous building to admire both from the outside and within. Don't forget to check out the Tiffany dome, there are 2 ome is smaller and less popular. I had to ask the personnel where to find that one. It's a bit on the back side of the building. The big one will ne closer to the Michigan Ave. Join a walking tour to learn more about the architecture

Wow! We thought this place was gonna be a quick pit stop to see a cool building, but it was so much more. The building itself is gorgeous, and it's very well maintained and historic. Every new room is a cool angle to look at. It takes some beautiful photos, too. For the museum itself, they have 3 or 4 different exhibitions at any given time, and each was a lot of fun. I particularly liked the restored Chicago jazz bar that they had on display...felt like you were walking back into another time. Highly recommend coming here. For a free museum in the heart of the loop, you can't beat it!

Beautiful Tiffany dome! Felt like I was in an episode of magic school bus where I shrank and went inside a beautiful jewelry piece and was looking the dome up close.

Without a brochure or guide, this puzzled us. It closely resembles a Franc Macon work we saw online.

The Chicago Architecture Biennial exhibit is at the Chicago Cultural Center through Feb 28, 2026, just across from Millenium Park. Interesting works were throughout. We saw a color and geometric wall, resembling a Franc Macon work that I saw online. We saw a terrific 200-ft-wide 1897 mosaic Tiffany Dome, which of course is permanent. The center of the dome shows the signs of the zodiac. In a large marble-walled rotunda hall, there is another elaborate 40-ft dome, with references to Union veterans of the civil war. For reasons we didnt discover, there was what looked like an MRI (or similar) machine under the dome. The domes are apparently quite popular for wedding photos. We had merely stumbled in (Nov 2025), and we didnt look for a brochure, so the mysteries remain. But the domes alone are worth a visit.

I recommend going here mostly because it's free! There's a lot of walking, and a lot of stairs. There are elevators if you need them, but you have to look for them. What the building is known for is the giant Tiffany dome. It's gorgeous, see the pictures. The rest just depends on the season. I think I got lucky because the tangible sound exhibit was really cool. I learned the history of the velvet lounge, saw some really come pictures, and an interactive exhibit. On the other side there were these art poster with quotes... Somewhere interesting, some less so. Overall still a good experience, but you never quite know what you're going to get!

The Chicago Cultural center has beautiful architecture, art exhibits, and it's completely free to enter. Unfortunately this time there was no art exhibitions as they were still installing them, but I've been multiple times before and the exhibits are always interesting and fun to look at! There's also a gift shop with a bunch of unique things made by local artists. We still got to see the beautiful glass dome (I'm pretty sure this is the biggest Tiffany glass dome in the world).

We stopped in to visit in December to warm up and see the exhibits. It was a nice reprieve from the cold weather! I was more interested in the architecture/ design of the building than the exhibits themselves. I really enjoyed my visit and I would definitely return again!

So much art to see! This is a great free thing to do in the city, I can only imagine how this center operates in the summer. The staff was nice with providing pamphlets and the view on how to view the center. I cant wait to come back!

The Chicago Cultural Center is such a solid stop downtown- especially because it's free. The building is beautiful (don't miss the big stained-glass dome), and it's easy to wander through for a quick visit or hang a little longer. We caught a few of their rotating art exhibits in the gallery spaces, and the kids play/activity area was a nice bonus when we needed a break. Overall, it's an easy, no-cost win if you're in the area.

This gorgeous building used to be home the Chicago Public Library. It has been repurposed into a cultural center, meaning that access to the building is free during their standard open hours of 10am - 5pm daily, and that they are a space for hosting a variety of exhibits and various artist's works. Various organizations have offices here, and there are several community rooms scattered throughout the building, generally on the upper floors. There are bathrooms over pretty much every floor, so if you find yourself in a bathroom line, just go to one on a different floor. There is are two beautiful domes, one over the south part of the building, and the other over the north part of the building. The south entrance leads to the Tiffany Dome, by way of staircases and numerous, well chosen quotes. The one circumscribed underneath the Tiffany dome reads: "Books are the legacies that a great genius leaves to mankind which are delivered down from generation to generation as presents to the posterity of those who are yet unborn" --Addison In fact, in the stairwells, the domed room, and in the adjacent, you will find it extremely difficult to take a bad picture, as essentially all vantage points somehow lend themselves to have fantastic perspectives, no matter which direction you happen to look. You can spend quite a bit of time inspecting all the intricate, ornamental details, reading all the quotes, and finding all the names. I didn't find the vending machine, but there is a gift shop on one of the floors. The art exhibits here rotate; the security guards by each exhibit will warn you if you happen to walk into no-go zone, such as behind, in-between, or too-close-to a sculpture or other three dimensional artwork. Also, if you get a chance, step inside the elevator on the south end, as it has an equally detailed, tiled interior. And if you're on the outside, there is a (very large) mural on the west wall of the building. The east wall is along Michigan Ave. So come forth and enjoy what this cultural center has to offer. P.S. you may be able to hire an architecture tour docent who will tell you some nice stories and the history of different parts of the building.

Chicago has a bunch of these smaller niche museum, but I thought this one was one of the better ones. It's an an historic house that would have overlooked the Lake before LSD existed. The exhibits were all pretty good, but my favorite was eye care. They had some great optometry artifacts and a collection of sunglasses over the years. They also have quite a bit of original art, mostly in sculpture form which is both odd, but still important. Another thing I liked was that it wasn't overly graphic. There's a plastic surgery section that has a few slightly unsettling portraits of people maimed during WWI. I mean, I kind of felt more bad for those poor people which I think was the point. If I were to give it all a rating, it's a light PG13. If there are any downsides, the place is a little on the expensive side for its size, but they're constantly running events that include admittance. They also seem to lean on some kind of artist or researcher that does a lot of dream stuff. I didn't like his stuff as much. Also, the sections are a little disorganized, but that might be spacing in issues. Either way, this was a pretty interesting place. I'm betting they do an awesome Halloween event because it's a little spooky, but all educational. The gift shop is neat too!

People in Amsterdam will also ask if you have done a canal boat tour - and you have to do these when you visit these cities. Our docent volunteer guide, Steve, was excellent. The boat staff was also hardworking and ready to help with any issues, from getting a drink at the boat's downstairs bar to handing out covers when the rain hit us. For what we paid, the 1.5 hour tour was more than worth it. I recommend sitting at the top towards the back, as you don't have to crane your neck as much when he points out places of interest. Not a must see or do attraction but a great day filler activity as you explore the city. Loved the wealth of information they offer as it's valuable to understand Chicagos importance from the ground up! I thought it would be more about highlighting the amazing architectural buildings around the city but nothing like that. It's was more about the environmental impact the city has and the hurdles when designing buildings around town. The staff were friendly at check in and provided great service overall as they were kind and helpful. Small center that you may explore at your own pace and may or may not be worth the admission price. But scoring free tickets it allowed us to be selective in our day or day plans to include the activity to pay it a visit!

The class had a mix of experience levels, and the instructor was funny, knowledgeable, and very attentive. She made sure everyone understood the poses and could keep up throughout the class. Upon reaching the observation deck, you're pretty much directed straight into the Cloud Bar, which honestly ended up being the highlight of our visit! The atmosphere was nice, and our bartender, Erica, was an absolute sweetheart! She was warm, welcoming, and made our time at the bar that much more enjoyable. We ordered the Beyond Belief, a glass of Cabernet, and the Bomba Coquito. All of the drinks were good, and we really enjoyed that portion of the experience. Unfortunately, things went downhill when we decided to try TILT. We had purchased our admission tickets through CityPASS, but be advised that TILT is NOT included with your CityPASS admission! We ended up having to pay an additional $17 per person, which, in my opinion, was absolutely not worth it. The TILT experience itself was underwhelming, especially considering the additional cost. To make matters worse, the employee responsible for taking our pictures did an absolutely terrible job. The photos were poorly taken, unflattering, and honestly disappointing. For an attraction where capturing the experience is part of the appeal, you'd expect someone who knows how to take a decent picture. Unfortunately, that was not the case. If I'm being completely honest, the Cloud Bar saved this experience for me. Between Erica's wonderful hospitality, the drinks, and the atmosphere, that was easily the most enjoyable part of our visit. Having also visited Skydeck Chicago, I personally think Skydeck is the better experience by far. The overall experience felt more worthwhile, and I enjoyed it significantly more. Would I return to 360 Chicago? Possibly for the Cloud Bar and the views, but I would absolutely skip TILT next time. Between the additional $17 charge and the disappointing pictures, it simply wasn't worth the money. My recommendation: Enjoy the views, grab a drink at the Cloud Bar, and save your money on TILT!

The train engine and original 'L' car are fascinating, and that entire section is remarkably well thought out. The old-school dioramas downstairs were also fun to view, the Lincoln exhibit and artwork are well worth seeing, and the Emmett Till exhibit was powerful. In fact, based on the Chicago history exhibits alone, the museum is worth a visit. On the downside, a few exhibits felt far less compelling, focusing on individuals and literature that didn't feel particularly notable or historically significant. It felt somewhat like pandering and made for a quick walkthrough of space that could be better utilized. For instance, one exhibit was dedicated to a longtime street vendor--which might be novel to some, but felt deflating right after viewing Lincoln's life mask next door. The main issue, however, occurred downstairs. An event with music and dancing was taking place, which was fine since it was clearly roped off and didn't block access to any exhibits. However, a museum worker approached us and asked if he could help us find anything. I said, 'No, thank you,' but he persisted, insisting we check out the displays toward the front. I repeated, 'We're good, thanks.' He then explained that an event was taking place and said he needed us to move along. When I asked if the museum was closing, he said no. I pointed out that I had paid full admission, was not in the event space, and would prefer he walk away. I later watched a similar interaction with other guests, which required a supervisor to step in and tell these overzealous workers to leave patrons alone. It was an awkward and unfortunate end to our visit, and management definitely needs to address it.
