Continuing alphabet series representing 2021, T is for 360 (Three-sixty) Chicago. I visited Chicago for a few days before Labor Day 2021. On that Tuesday I flew into O'Hare, took the L train to my hotel in downtown to check-in, walked up Michigan Ave, & went straight to John Hancock Tower where 360 Chicago is. A lot of Chicago tourists think to go to the Willis Tower, which is the tallest building in Chicago. But I read that Hancock Tower had much better views. Hancock Tower is still over 1000' tall viewing area. What's another 300' really going to make that much difference anyway? Either way, it's really high up, and it's about double the size of any building in Maryland, where I live, or DC. I ended up getting the view + drink package. I walked around admiring the incredible views of downtown Chicago and the awesome skyline it is as well Lake Michigan and other various views of Chicago. Drink was some fruity, but reasonably strong as I recall and delicious. Incidentally, my friend flew in a day later and on the last morning we were in Chicago before heading up to Milwaukee, he wanted to go to Willis Tower. We walked down there, and he paid more $$$ to that one, but I already got my excellent view from 360 Chicago; he was satisfied, and I ended up walking around the Willis Tower area on my own while he was on his own sky high level.

Recently did the 360 Chicago experience and had a mostly great, but slightly mixed, visit. We went on a late Sunday night after reserving tickets online for $35 each. Heads up that pricing is dynamic. I noticed standard tickets were listed at $29 at one point, and prices increase as time slots fill, which already feels steep for a single visit. When we arrived, we learned that admission was free for locals that week, which made the space especially crowded. Thankfully, the entry lines were manageable and the elevator ride to the 94th floor was impressively fast. Be prepared for some ear pressure on the way up. Once at the top, the views were undeniably beautiful. You can circle the entire floor and take in all four directions of the city, spotting landmarks like Navy Pier and Willis Tower, though visibility depends on weather and time of night. The main challenge was the crowd. While there are plenty of areas to take photos, the heavy volume of visitors meant lots of fingerprints and smudges on the glass, which made it difficult to capture clean shots. I also felt there could have been more staff oversight to maintain a comfortable environment, especially given how many employees were present. Overall, it is an iconic Chicago experience worth doing once for the views, but given the price and crowds, it is not something I would personally repeat.

I was in Chicago for a conference in November 2015 and decide to walk over to the John Hancock Building and pay a ticket to see the observation deck. On a weekday morning, it was not crowded at all. The views are superb of the city skyline and the blue water of Lake Michigan. The only downside is that it's quite expensive - but it's one of those "one-time" experiences that will be memorable.

Big time tourist thing to do in Chicago is to go to the top of the John Hancock Center. It isn't quite as touristy as the Sears Tower but it gets close enough to it. 360 Chicago is the observation deck at the top of this big ass building and there's the best views. Also get something from the lounge. The prices suck but that's obvious to expect though. A long ways to the top of this building. Its elevators are believed to be the fastest in the Western Hemisphere. These go at a top speed of 20.5 mph. Before this you have to buy tickets, the worst part of it. It's about $35 for adults, then add on more if doing the TILT. Basically this is an area that tilts 30 degrees so it feels like it's moving. There also used to be the world's highest skating rink that was here in winters. At the top is also a bar. Tickets that are even more expensive include a bar purchase, but one only which kind of sucks. Great place for going all the way up and seeing for miles. It's just expensive like anything for tourists. The views are worth it so whatever.

I really enjoyed my time here! We got a ticket through the Chicago CityPass. We scanned our pass for entry and went up to the 94th floor. The elevator experience is so unreal because you are moving so FAST. I enjoyed the 360 views. The glass was super clean so everything was super clear to see. I also enjoyed that important landmarks were labeled on the glass so you could tell what you were looking at. My friend and I also added on the Tilt. The Tilt wasn't a necessary experience but we thought we would try after seeing folks do it. It was pricey for what it was but at least it lasted a decent amount of time so it wasn't super quick for the money. They also take pictures of you that you can purchase. (We did not because they were pricey). Overall, enjoyed the 360 views and would recommend it to people visiting Chicago.

Of all the skyscraper experiences targeted towards tourists in downtown Chicago, 360 Chicago in the old John Hancock tower has always been my favorite. The views from this part of the city truly are the best. It's the only tower where you can get not only the skyline view but the coastline view as well, including Navy Pier. I highly recommend booking your reservation in advance. I booked the fast pass ticket and was able to basically walk right up to the elevator to go up the tower. Once at the top you'll find a gift shop, several seats to sit and enjoy the views, a bar, and the Tilt experience. I opted to do the Tilt experience on this most recent visit (fyi your Fast Pass ticket won't apply to the line for the Tilt). After joining the separate, second line for the Tilt experience I waited in line for about 30 minutes before it was my time to experience the "ride." It was definitely a unique experience. I don't see myself doing the Tilt again as it felt like a one and done kinda thing but it was definitely a fun experience that I'm glad I did. If you can only choose one skyscraper to go up, make it this one!

Observation Deck [Chicago IL] The 360 CHICAGO Observation Deck (Formally John Hancock Center) is a popular attraction in Chicago. If taking the Big Bus Tour this was Stop #10. 94 floors up and 1,030 feet above the Magnificent Mile we were treated to a stunning panoramic views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan. The skyscrapers in Chicago were impressive to see, amazing views of the city skyline... and wait, what is that below... is that a beach? Close to city life were these two beaches visible from Chicago's north side and Downtown Chicago: Oak Street Beach and North Avenue Beach. Our tickets included one drink each at the CloudBar. You should plan to book on a nice clear day because they will not refund you due to inclement weather or low and no visibility but you can reschedule for up to a year if your ticket(s) were not redeemed. This is one of the only truly touristy things I've done in Chicago. It is tourist/renovation priced. As someone else mentioned it is more expensive in-person than online but the staff actually told us this when we arrived so we stood there and purchased tickets on our phones. We arrived about 1115 and bought tickets for the 1130 time slot. The views at the top are incredible! It was a nice clear day and we could see the city and the lake for miles! It also happened to be Juneteenth so they had a Black-owned business market. We skipped the Tilt, just the entry was expensive enough, but we got killer pics on each side. I hear the views are also beautiful at night so maybe pick a dusk entry time to get the most bang for your buck!

I still nostalgically miss The Signature Room, but they did do a good job renovating this area. The downside is it's quite expensive for the view. I had a TripAdvisor discount so I got the sip and view package for $19. At that price I really couldn't pass it up because the drink would've cost about that on its own. There are a lot of ways you can view once you're up on the observation floor. They have stadium seating, the narrow bar up against the window. that was there when it was the Signature Room, a renovated bar, and lots of tables, and then you can just walk around toward the lakeside and look out the windows. The ride up and down on the elevator is direct and the day I was there it was not crowded at all but it was a Tuesday not in tourist season. You can buy drinks on your own at the bar, but they are (not surprisingly) expensive. However, the view is very good if you want to spend a little longer time sipping on your beverage it's not a bad way to spend an hour or two.

This was such a cool view, it's $55 for adults to go up to the top and do the Tilt. It was cool and we enjoyed the beautiful city views from the top. I recommend this when in the area.

Visiting Chicago for the first time and had to see incredible views of the city! It's known as one of the world's most recognized skyscrapers and first mixed-use tower. All the floors are well used. Floors 92 and below are condos, offices, stores, and has americas highest indoor swimming pool. 360 Chicago is on the 94th floor. Tickets are purchased on ground level and can included the Tilt experience which is timed entry. Can also include 1 drink from the Cloud Bar which I recommend to enjoy the views and sips. Tix are a bit pricey than I like to spend for such a short visit at the top as you can only do so much looking out. The view is phenomenal and there are signs on each wall indicating the neighborhood you're viewing. Merch is available at the top and also at the bottom.

I got tickets to 360 Chicago through a CityPass purchase. It was easy to reserve a time through the CityPass app and I decided to visit at 9AM, the first timeslot available. Since I went so early there were no lines and you had plenty of room to roam around freely. This review would probably be a 3-star if I went at primetime because I imagine the lines/crowds could get super annoying. There's really not much to it. It's an observation deck in a major city; the experience is largely the same but the only things that change are the views and the facts about the structure. I know that sounds a little belittling, but it's true. You walk some halls and play some videos and read some signs that talk about the history. All that leads up to an elevator ride that take you to the top. At the top they offer an experience called "The Tilt" which is exactly what it sounds like. You stand in front of some really thick windows and it tilts you forward to give a different perspective of the streets below. Heights kind of freak me out so I didn't do it, but I watched two guys do it and it seemed cool. It's also an additional $10 from your general admission to 360 Chicago but you can purchase the tickets at the top. In my opinion, the views of 360 Chicago are better than the ones from Skydeck/Willis Tower. Technically Skydeck is higher, but I feel like the height difference is negligible. I really like the view of the shoreline from 360 Chicago. It's definitely worth visiting, just try to go off hours.

We were deciding between the 360 Chicago and the Skydeck during our visit to Chicago. We decided on the 360 Chicago because of the skyline views, including the Willis/Sears Tower, from that vantage point. Admission is about $30 per person...but we did it as part of the CityPass bundle. Both CityPass and GoCity include this attraction if desired. We arrived at around 2pm for our 2:30 timed admission. (You can arrive within 30 minutes of your admission time) At that time, 2:30pm on a Wednesday, the place was pretty empty. After our tickets were scanned, we walked through a brief scanning area and proceeded to the walkway leading to the elevator to go up. The walkway had some interesting facts about Chicago along the way. The elevator ride was surprisingly quick up to the 94th floor. On the 94th Floor, there are beautiful views of the city, a snack and drink (including alcoholic drinks) area and a souvenir shop. There is also the TILT area...where, for $10, you can tilt over the side of the building...the angle wasn't very steep...should be okay for most people. While the views were nice, I think the SkyDeck offers a bit more for the price. Now, the 360 Chicago does allow tripods...so that may come in handy for those photographers who are interested in sunset, night or other long exposure photos. All staff we encountered were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Lots of parking lots in the immediate area but they are pricey. We were able to find street parking in the area and pay via the ParkChicago app....the rate in that immediate area was $4.50 per hour with a maximum of 2 hours...which was perfect for our visit. There is a lot to do and see in the immediate area, particularly along Michigan Avenue, so it may be a good idea to plan this attraction into some others in the area.

Is the sky deck here too? I see it in some reviewers pics

No. This has the TILT which is very cool. This is in the Hancock building. The sky deck is in Willis Tower. Previously the Sears Tower. Do both!

Can one enter the signature lounge as long as they are accompanied by an adult? If so, must that adult be strictly a parent?

We allow all ages at the observation deck. The Signature Lounge is a separate business. As far as we know, minors are not permitted at all, but you’d be better off asking them.

There's a bit of a wait depending on when you go, but it moves steadily and there's enough to look at along the way that it doesn't feel like you're just standing around. The top, though, it's completely worth it. The best part, of course, is stepping onto The Ledge. Standing on a glass box looking straight down at the city is surreal, and definitely something you don't forget. It's one of those moments where you just have to pause and take it all in. If you're visiting Chicago, I'd say this is a must-do at least once. It's touristy, sure, but for good reason. The views, the experience, and that little rush of adrenaline make it totally worth it.

The staff at Skydeck Chicago were all very sweet and friendly throughout the experience. As you make your way up, you walk through a series of exhibits and fun facts about Chicago, which was a nice touch and made the wait feel more engaging. It really highlights what makes the city special. Once we reached the top, I quickly realized I had underestimated just how high the building actually is. When it was time to step out onto the ledge... I completely punked out! They tell you not to look down, but of course, your natural reaction is to do exactly that. There's a photographer ready to capture the moment when you step all the way out onto the glass, but truthfully, I couldn't make it all the way out. I gave it about 2.5 seconds of bravery before my fear kicked in! Even with my moment of panic, I'm still really glad I went. It was definitely an unforgettable experience and a fun way to challenge myself.

Visit the birthplace of modern astrophysics!…read more Yerkes Observatory is a historic astronomical research facility that was founded in 1897 by astronomer George Ellery Hale. It's known as the "birthplace of modern astrophysics," and it houses the world's largest refracting telescope, with a 40-inch lens. Fair warning: This isn't a place you can just pop in and visit, like a museum. It's more like a public education center, and I believe you can only visit by booking a tour online. They also offer workshops and put on the occasional festival. During the tour, you can explore the building's beautiful architecture, learn about the history of the observatory, attend a lecture or stargazing event, and visit the out-of-this-world gift shop, full of astronomy-themed souvenirs for all ages. Depending on the type of tour you book, you might even be able to gaze at planets and stars through the telescope. Tours require climbing stairs and sometimes navigating through some tight spaces, so they aren't accessible.
