The Lytle House was the perfect venue for our summer wedding. The owners, Michelle and Robyn, stood out from the rest from day one. They got to know us and helped guide us through the entire process. The day of the wedding reception, Michelle knocked it out of the park getting the flowers, photos, sound system, and other decorations all set up. You just got engaged and have started to look for venues for your "small" or intimate wedding. Look no further! The Lytle House can host up to 80 people and the dynamic duo, Robyn and Michelle, are nothing short of amazing professionals. When we first got engaged, I quickly started to lock vendors in for our short engagement. Our photographer referred The Lytle House from there and the rest is history. I reached out to Robyn immediately and she responded within 24 hours. Honestly, unlike a few of our vendors, Robyn never wavered in her service. She was always very responsive - even for my silly questions and talking things out via email. At first, we were a bit hesitant of their No Kids rule because we wanted our toddler nephews be our ring bearers. Robyn quickly assured us that they can make an exception but reminded us that they don't have changing tables so they needed to be potty trained. In the end, we realized that we wanted this to be a celebration for everyone, and for the parents to have fun, let's make it kids free. So, if you're hesitant on reaching out because of the no kids thing, go back and inquire!! We scheduled a visit within the week of reaching out and fell in love. It was the only venue we visited (aside from the tons of pamphlets and auto-responses from other venues in the city). We immediately felt like we visited 'The One'. Our visit was in March, so it was still winter. She helped paint a picture of what a Summer or Fall date would look like and showed us their Instagram to bring the pictures to life. She was immediately helping our vision fall into place and offered Labor Day weekend after someone who booked a year ago canceled. It just felt right and that everything was falling into place. If wedding planning was going to be as easy as locking in our venue, we knew we were in good hands. Thankfully the entire process was mostly drama-free since we opted for a 33-person wedding. By the time it came to our walk-through, she was prepared and remembered all of my notes - even the ones I forgot! She claims to be a day-of coordinator, but you're definitely getting much more. My guests were also so impressed by the both of them. I think my sister-in-law spent about a half hour or more just chatting with Michelle. Ok, now fast forward to a week before the wedding - that's where Michelle came in. She quickly helped us lock in the trailer photobooth (that comes with the venue) and it was a breeze. We loved that every picture taken was sent to us the next day and had an option to save all pictures at once. I wish photographers would get on board with that one! Which reminds me, Michelle is also a Chicago Wedding Photographer! If you find yourself going back and forth, she'd be worth reaching out to. We unfortunately realized this after booking our wedding photographer. I did like that Robyn wasn't pushing it to seem sales-y. I got to chat with Michelle very briefly on the wedding day and she was just as kind as Robyn. After Robyn left to put their kids to bed, Michelle was by our side if we needed anything. A couple things to note: yes, the venue is between two homes, but your music is still loud, and the dance floor WILL be hype. We maybe had like five people who weren't rocking it the whole time, and those who were sitting got to enjoy the beautiful outdoor courtyard. It was perfectly lit to enjoy a cocktail and conversation away from the dance floor. We rented a DJ and never bumped into the table once - so don't think this venue is too small either. They have two restrooms that they stock with some toiletries and they smell great. A small detail that I really appreciate. They don't have any storage so if there is a wedding the day before yours, you will have to coordinate on how to get your items there the morning-of. Thankfully our caterer's business is down the street from where we live so we got to drop off our items to them the day before and they delivered it with their stuff the day-of. I left notes and Robyn followed and setup everything perfectly. I truly do not know how she does it! If you're having a small wedding, ask about a King's Table! It was the best setup for us. We all got to enjoy dinner together and I was able to seat everyone in 'sections' of the large table so conversation was flowing very well. We truly cannot say enough amazing things about our September 3rd wedding thanks to them both. I can't wait to get in touch with Robyn and Michelle again for future events since they host just about anything at their lovely home. read more

The Lytle House is an incredible venue with incredible value. When my fiance and I decided to have our wedding in Chicago (the city where we met), it was difficult to wrap our minds around the expense of some of the wedding venues we were considering. We discovered The Lytle House shortly after it opened through an article on a neighborhood blog. We were intrigued by the history and story of The Lytle House and reached out to Robyn to schedule a tour. Robyn responded very quickly and provided us with additional information about pricing and availability and we scheduled a tour for the following week. During the tour we were impressed by the space, by Robyn, and everything the price included. For example, the Lytle House has beautiful steel and walnut tables and chairs. Whereas other venues that were twice the price would have required table and linen rentals, the Lytle House included tables and chairs we wouldn't dream of covering with linens. Not to mention the unique indoor/outdoor layout of the space. I was convinced after this visit but my partner wanted to explore some other options. Robyn placed a soft-hold on the date we were hoping for, and she contacted us shortly after the soft-hold had expired to let us know that another couple had inquired about that date, even though she didn't need to. Luckily, by that time we were both convinced and asked Robyn for a contract, which she provided promptly. We signed the contract and submitted the deposit online and Robyn sent over a list of recommended vendors. We ended up choosing a couple vendors who were not on this list and Robyn scheduled times to meet with them to tour the space. Once we booked our vendors, Robyn took over all of the coordination, gathering their certificates of insurance, scheduling their arrival/set-up on the day of the wedding, and answering any questions they might have on the day. Robyn checked in with us periodically prior to the wedding and answered any questions we had. When it looked like rain on the day of our wedding, her only instruction to us was "Don't worry about it, we will make it work." Luckily the rain held out until the party moved inside, but I have no doubt that Robyn had a plan ready to go with our caterer (we had a food truck) in case the skies opened. We dropped off various items the night before the wedding fully expecting to come early the next day to do some set-up, when we arrived to drop off a few more items ahead of the wedding, we discovered Robyn already in the process of setting out our favors, organizing the other miscellaneous decorations, and assisting the vendors. We didn't need to lift a finger. Robyn was present throughout the wedding and helped in any way that she could. A small unexpected detail we discovered was individual cloth hand towels in the restroom, which Robyn kept well and neatly stocked throughout the evening. All of our guests commented on how perfect the day was and how unique and incredible the venue was and we couldn't agree more. Robyn even helped us carry gifts and supplies to our car after the wedding. As far as we're concerned the value of what you get with the Lytle House cannot be beat, a beautiful and unique venue with attractive hand-crafted furniture, and most importantly, Robyn, who makes you and your guests feel completely at ease and free to enjoy an incredible day. read more

We booked The Lytle House over two years ago for our wedding on 10/10/2020. Robyn is an absolute pleasure to work with, and she was extremely helpful and flexible as we had to adjust our planning due to COVID-19. The space is so gorgeous, inside and also outside in the courtyard. The mural in the courtyard was an incredible backdrop to our photobooth, and we had our ceremony in front of the ivy covered wall inside the gate. It was an absolutely perfect day, and having Robyn coordinate with our vendors and help set up the décor we brought made the entire day feel seamless and effortless (even though I know the vendors were super busy getting everything set up during the day). Anyone who is looking to have a smaller (80 or less) gathering or celebration could do no better than have it at The Lytle House, it is truly a special place. read more

Thanks Robyn and Michelle for an amazing venue. We had our wedding here. It was an oasis in the city. Our friends and family kept saying how gorgeous it was. We had about 90 people attend. It was more then enough space. People really enjoyed the fact we did food trucks, because it allowed everyone to mingle and eat and drink how they wanted. We rented an additional 5 cocktails tables which were definitely used. The space also allows you to be mindful with a budget such as using food trucks and not having many rentals. Robyn was great at providing ideas etc. She was also timely for responding to the many questions and allowed us to see the venue a 2nd time. I had the wedding of my dreams at The Lytle House this past August and couldn't recommend them more. With Michelle as our amazing wedding photographer and her wife Robyn helping us coordinate logistics and vendors, they helped us put together a playful, fun and dreamy wedding. I was planning from New York and Robyn was incredibly supportive and helpful, answering my approximately 3000 emails in the months leading up to the event. She recommended excellent vendors, which was such a huge relief as I was getting overwhelmed trying to sift through all the options. Our DJ (Jena Nixon), florist (Flowers for Dreams) and caterer (Fig) understood exactly the vibe we were going for and blew us away. The space speaks for itself. The Lytle House was hands down the highlight of our wedding day. Robyn is hands on, always available whenever we had questions, beyond sweet, accommodating to all of our vendors and was there throughout the whole night if we needed her. Their space is truly unique and special and you really get the sense of community and the pride they take in their space. We were lucky enough to have the most perfect weather the day of our wedding and the courtyard was the most amazing place for our ceremony and outdoor hangout space for our guests throughout the night. The pictures do not do this place justice so be sure to go check it out! It is very spacious and the opposing indoor/outdoor spaces gave our guests plenty of options to hang out throughout the night. We had issues with our food truck vendor where they were not able to pull into the courtyard of the Lytle House but there was plenty of space right outside the venue near the driveway where they would have been able to pull in so it still worked out perfectly. We were able to open the courtyard doors for the guests that gave everyone full access to the ice cream truck which was amazing. From the ivy wall to the mural to the lights outside over the courtyard, each small detail did not go unnoticed and made for an unforgettable night and plenty of photo opps! read more

The Lytle House is the perfect venue for an unique, intimate wedding celebration. Even though its located right on Broadway, it really feels like a secret garden once you're in the courtyard - noise from the street was never an issue. The owners, Robyn and Michelle, were incredibly thoughtful when they designed the venue, and its so beautiful that it really doesn't require much decoration. Our guests' favorite part was the flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces, it was an ideal venue for our evening summer wedding. I attended a yoga class here and absolutely fell in love with the space. It's got a beautifully manicured garden tucked away from the street by a decorative wall/fence and feels like a total oasis in the city. The glass garage door wall allows for you to enjoy a really nice indoor/outdoor flow, and despite the rainy weather on the day of the class, allowed us to feel like we were still out enjoying the garden while staying dry. If you're looking to host a smaller wedding, there's literally no better place than the Lytle House. It looks like a dream - from the beautiful, colorful mural and ivy-covered walls in the courtyard, to the white-washed brick and hand-crafted tables inside, it feels completely intimate, warm, and full of character. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how perfect of a space it was. I've seen a lot of people call it an "oasis," and it really is. On top of all that, working with Robyn and Michelle couldn't have been easier. Robyn was so responsive and went way above and beyond answering all my silly questions, and coordinated/set-up everything on the day of so we never had to worry about a thing.
