Good gruel stuff was so friendly! They gave me stuff, water and ice and the waitress (Rayna I think?) has a mysterious yet fun vibe which made me curious about the beer selection. Reinah was very knowledgble about beer and wine selection and life. Love the carrot cake and wish there was bottomless mamohasas, but oh well....still had fun ... life goes on . I love this place!!! Came here to celebrate my friends acceptance to medical school!!!!!!! It's a great neighborhood spot that would make a variety of palettes happy. The resturant is cozy & I've tried two of their salads now + my friend got the turkey burger & it's all very delish. This is a place that does the basics WELL & I could come back regularly. Also loved my glass of Pinot noir. Our server was adorable & friendly. Definitely recommend for a variety of outings. ALSO their takeout is great and very easy (that's when I tried the other salad). Love that it's by the Southport shops ! read more

First time here back in November. Luckily we made a reservation or the wait could have been longer. Warmly greeted by the hostess. I appreciated she let me sit while my other party was parking. Parking can be relentless in that community so arrive early. First off, start with the cornbread. OMG. Comes served in an iron skillet, warm and moist. Ample to share. I opted for the chorizo tostadas which were also ample and delicious. My friend had the Wrightwood salad which she enjoyed. Can get loud and crowded so bring your patience. Server was exceptionally helpful and nice. We felt bad because we did sit for a long time catching up but we took care of her in the end. Loved the iced coffee and mimosa, too. read more

Crosby's is a very solid restaurant. There aren't many places that serve delicious fresh salads and buttery desserts. The Rock Shrimp Salad was loaded with fresh shrimp. The avocado added the right amount of richness to the salad. The Wrightwood was perfectly balanced with a variety of flavorful ingredients. If you have a sweet tooth, the Monkey Bread won't let you down. It's served in a cast iron pan hot from the oven. Be careful though. .. it's addictive and I don't want to think about the calorie count, lol. 3.49 stars for the food. Rounding up for friendly service. read more

The service was excellent--fast, welcoming, and attentive. My server, Joseph, was incredibly sweet and made sure I had everything I needed. I especially loved the lobster deviled eggs, and while the prime rib sandwich (French dip) looked more like deli meat than traditional prime rib, it still tasted great. The carrot cake was delicious, though it might be a bit too sweet for some. read more

Reliable, crowd pleaser restaurant with friendly and prompt service. The menu offers something for everyone. My boyfriend went for the half-taco ribs and was thoroughly impressed. I opted for the half-rotisserie chicken and it was more than enough for me. It was served with a side of bbq sauce that added so much flavor. The carrot cake was perfect to top off the dinner. The restaurant itself is small but cozy. The patio is perfect for summer in Chicago. It definitely feels like a family-oriented, neighborhood restaurant. read more

Only 3 stars here. Overall, the experience was just OK -- food, service and everything else. Pros: the ribs were nice! Fell right off the bone and the coleslaw and fries were great! Vibes are pretty good, good place to bring your family. Cons: service was a bit slow and waiters recommendations weren't great. The pasta dish and deviled eggs left much to be desired. The rotisserie chicken was unremarkable. read more

Delicious. The salad was amazing. The steak frites was a hoot, and the service was spot on. This place is conveniently located in the heart of the Southport corridor, so it was great to stop in during the festival. Even with thousands outside the door, the service was excellent. read more

Crosby's Kitchen is one of my favorite American restaurants in city. I dined here during restaurant week 2021 and the offering was too good to pass up. For the $39 dinner I ordered the wrightwood salad as an appetizer, teriyaki salmon with a side as well as carrot cake for dessert. The food was delicious and service was great. My friends and I came here for Sunday brunch, and everything on the menu looks good. We shared the monkey bread, which is soooo good! It's slathered with cream cheese frosting and the monkey bread itself is super flaky like croissants. It's definitely a must order during brunch. Their signature wrightwood salad is also very delicious and quite filling. The table also ordered the calypso shrimp, lobster deviled eggs, spinach dip, and a few sandwiches. Everyone loved their food, and the portions are enough to share across the table. Crosby's is able to split checks to give people their individual bills, and they can also split menu items across multiple people. They use Toast to cash out, so you can scan your QR code and pay your bill right on your phone. read more

Stopped in for dinner for the first time and I was quite impressed. Cocktails were yummy and seasonal. We started with the mini filet sliders, delicious with blue cheese and red onion candy. What's great is they'll let you add extra pieces to your appetizers to accommodate your party size. These sliders could also be a great lil lunch! For entrees I got the "best in town" babyback ribs and my mom got the famous rotisserie chicken. Both really delivered. It comes down to simple, comfort food done exactly right. The ribs fell off the bone, the Smoke Daddy sauce was a delicious touch that didn't drown out the delicious flavor of the meat. And the chicken with mashed potatoes, just amazing. Forget those grocery store rotisserie chickens sitting under the heat lamps--this is the real deal. For dessert we had the skillet cookie because you HAVE to! Prices are also very fair here. I'd like to add that the service was quietly fantastic. The server is there when you need them, enthusiastic about the menu, never obtrusive, and just wants you to have a great time. You can tell the staff really cares, and that goes a long way in my book. read more

Allergy sufferers beware. Since brunch typically has a lot of cheese on the menu - my allergy - I pointed out to our waitress Coty that I have a bit of an allergy (I say 'a bit' because it's not technically life-threatening - I still made it clear it was an allergy, however). Shortly after, I was told that the "potatoes" that came with the dish I ordered had cheese, so I asked to swap them with fries. No problem - the menu didn't mention cheese so I had no way of knowing. When my dish came though, I saw that the eggs had bits of the cheesy potatoes on them. So clearly, they just scooped one of the two items off the plate to swap the fries, disregarding the allergy contamination. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she got defensive instead of being apologetic. She tried to blame ME for not expressing the severity of my allergy - as if it's anyone's business to decide how severe my allergy is but me and my doctor. I was honestly appalled. When asked if I would like it remade, I refused saying it's clear that they don't take allergies seriously and wouldn't trust another plate. Again, she went defensive saying that they ARE serious about allergies. But tell me - if they're so serious about allergies, why was it on my plate? There wasn't even the decency to bring a manager over. I'm surprised I have to write this because I want to be clear that I've had positive experiences in the past. But I can no longer trust that my allergy will be taken seriously here. read more

We tried Crosby's Kitchen after seeing that they are opening a new location in Niles. We didn't know they already had a location on Southport Avenue, but when we did, we had to try it. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely make this one of our regular options for dining out. The atmosphere, food and service were all excellent. Our server, Coty is one of the best we have ever had. She was upbeat, friendly and made us feel comfortable and welcome. She made menu suggestions and overall made our experience very pleasant. The chicken sandwich and monkey bread were outstanding. We can't wait to go back and try many other options on there menu. read more

Ambiance was great. We came for lunch on a Saturday and it was packed. We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait about an hour. Luckily there is plenty of shopping on Southport to distract one's self. We got the lobster deviled eggs as an appetizer (amazing), I got the Brussels sprout salad as an entree (I subbed for goat cheese, it was great!), we also got some sides to share: crispy Brussels (these were okay) and buffalo cauliflower (great flavor). read more

Terrible management, especially Holly. Otherwise, food was decent but couldn't enjoy it.

The Southport corridor always a great area to stroll down with an amazing number stores and restaurants to visit. A must-try is Crosby's Kitchen with a great selection of American food. On this occasion, we started with the cornbread which was the stand-out of our meal. A healthy size to share, perfectly baked and tasted great as a starter. I had the ribs which were fall off the bone but perhaps a little over sauced. Nonetheless, very flavorful and a good helping of coleslaw as a side. A final mention, the service was impeccable. Friendly and speedy. read more

Ordered the chicken dip sandwich. The cole slaw was really good. The breast was thick and juicy. The dip broth was flavorful. The service was quick once we sat down. They did have an hour wait for two people on a Thursday around 2:00 pm. The ambience was really lively. Lots of families with young kids. They have a bar but mostly for a quick meal. read more

Came here for dinner with friends. Arrived earlier than anticipated and the hostess kindly found us a booth without issue. Parking: free street parking available on Cornelia until 6:00 pm! We ordered the Iron Skillet Cornbread and we all enjoyed it (especially the maple butter). I opted for the Wrightwood Salad and loved it. The flavors worked well together and was a good portion size. Two others ordered the Wood Roasted Chicken & Biscuits. I had a bite and loved that too! Service was good, food was great. We'll be back! read more

I have been to Crosby's many times as I live in the neighborhood and can walk here in 10 mins. Every time I've dined at Crosby's, it has always been a great experience. The waitstaff is always friendly, accommodating & attentive. The food has always been fab each time as well. I met 2 good friends here today for brunch. It was a beautiful day, so we were able to sit outside at the first table on the Southport side. We split the lobster deviled eggs app. So good with little chunks of lobster to take it up a notch. Who doesn't like lobster? I had the grilled blackened mahi-mahi sanguich. Very fresh, grilled perfectly & not fishy tasting whatsoever. Also, I started off with a killer Cup O Joe with cream. Why can't I make coffee like this at home? Another great brunch experience at Crosby's Kitchen! As Arnold says: I'll be back! read more

Just a perfect cozy, lively spot for delicious, reasonably priced food. I came here with my girlfriend after loving The Perch--Crosby's sister restaurant with a very similar menu. Having experienced the menu a few times, we had an idea of what we'd order, but wanted to mix in a few items as well. We ordered the Wrightwood Salad and Chicken and Biscuits to split, and they (very helpfully) served us the salad already divided into 2, with no split plate charge. Not a huge deal, but definitely appreciated. The salad was as delicious as ever--they're great with any of the items that feature rotisserie chicken, and this was certainly no exception. The chicken and biscuits was quite good as well--I split my biscuit in half and used it to soak up the flavors from the stew of chicken and vegetables. The optimal ratio would probably have a 3rd biscuit, but that's really a minor quibble--this was delicious. We finished off with a skillet cookie that was delicious, as any skillet cookie would be, but was a bit strange. The texture was almost a bit grainy--it wasn't bad, but it did take a second to get used to. Overall, it was still a hot cookie with a bunch of ice cream on top, so it was very good, but the cookie was a bit odd. Maybe like a 4/5 dish. In any case, highly recommend for families, a date, a group of friends, some bois just hanging, or really whatever. read more

We absolutely loved our meal at Crosby's Kitchen. My sister is a super picky eater but she loved the food at this wonderful place. The rotisserie chicken and salads are fantastic. Burgers are great, too. Their menu was huge and they have variety of options. From their drinks to main dishes, everything was perfection. The customer service was also good. Our server is kind and she did an awesome job of taking care of us. She had the best recommendations. Their location was accessible and close to other popular spots in the area. Definitely a spot we will visit again! Big thanks to the staff! read more

We were a party of 9 with two young children celebrating my birthday. Joseph was our server went way beyond our expectations taking a large order. No mistakes. We had an assortment of appetizers and the kids had their favorite noodle dish to keep them busy while the rest of us perused the menu. The steak sliders were out of this world cooked to a nice medium rare and the blue cheese was a pleasant surprise. Lots of sharing. I had the pork chop grilled perfection. with the red beans and a side of Brussels sprouts. Loved everything They brought out a freshly baked cookie in a pan with ice cream with a candle and spoons to for everyone. It was a wonderful experience. Thanks read more

Very good service, aesthetically pleasing, but ok food. I went for brunch with my mom here recently and wasn't super blown away by the food. The monkey bread was the best thing I had there- it was super warm, sweet and perfect for sharing. I was kind of disappointed in the quiche for being soggy. It came out piping hot, which was really nice, but the crust was soggy and salty. Eggs seemed a bit overcooked too. The salad was slightly bitter which i wasn't a fan of. Overall, maybe I needed to try something different but I wasn't a major fan. Service was A+ though! read more

Crosby's always delivers, and it's the perfect patio brunch spot on a beautiful day. Service is always great (thanks to Kenny who was our server today). My fiends and I had a great experience. Stopped in here spur the moment to grab a bite to eat before a show at the Vic. We were tight on time, so we ate at the bar. I had the French dip which was out of this world! I would come back just for the sandwich. The meat was tender and so flavorful, and the bread was perfect. The fresh horseradish sauce was a perfect kick. It was amazing. I got the coleslaw as a side and it was fresh and delicious. Definitely would get that again. My husband had the pasta with the burrata and he said it was fantastic. It was rich, but it was delicious. The bartender was very attentive, and we were in and out of there in a short amount of time to make our show. Would definitely come back! read more

Came here for brunch with a couple friends! I love the modern, yet cozy vibe of this place. We split the cinnamon roll monkey bread to start, and OH MY GOSH this was the BEST part of the meal hands down. This piping hot, melty, sweet & salty, slightly crispy, ooey gooey, pull-apartness was perfection. I got the breakfast sandwich to start, which I must say, was too much food. (just for me personally). The hashbrowns it was served with were BOMB. My friends both got the veggie omelette, and they both seemed very pleased. It's in such a cute area too! A perfect neighborhood restaurant. Cozy and warm atmosphere. Our server was extremely polite and efficient. Food was delicious! We ordered Pork Chops and Rotisserie Chicken. The portions were generous. Pork chop was tender, juicy and flavorful! The chicken was juicy and full of flavor. I will go back. The outdoor bar area is comfortable, bright and nice. The outdoor bartender and servers were all friendly. Next time I will try one of the seafood dishes or that great looking pasta dish. Those are things that will bring me back. I do not believe they have someone in their kitchen who is attentive enough to offer a $59 NY strip steak. If they did, they would have removed the gristle and tendon I had to subtlety transfer from my mouth to my napkin. Regrets? I have had a few, that steak is one. read more

Excellent eggs Benedict (top 5 I've had) and biscuits! Fast and kind service, nice outdoor setup.

Overall quite a disappointing experience for my first time at Crosby's :-( the restaurant was clearly having some issues tonight and was out of several things. Waitstaff was friendly/attentive and did their best despite the challenges. Food came out without any silverware/napkins and the staff member who brought us forks did not bring napkins, so I had to get up and go to the host stand to ask for napkins. Our server told us the restaurant was out of napkins, but came back a few minutes later and said she found the last few napkins for us. My food came out lukewarm like it had been sitting out for a while, which is not what you would expect for a $25 plate of pasta. Overall, the dinner was somewhat pricey for a less than satisfying experience. read more

Very pricey! Meals are chinsy. I wanted to go to McDonalds afterwards. The hose wine was expensive for such a small amount.. The service was very slow. Food quality is consistent, though menu is limited. Service is always too notch- Neil went above and beyond to make our experience positive.

What a gem! We met a group of friends for, "Linner" (that time between Lunch and Dinner). My wife and I were coming here for the first time while others in our group had been before and already had high praises for it. The wait staff is freaking awesome. Very attentive, alert, and professional. We didn't want for anything the entire time. They cleaned plates out of the way and quickly after we finished eating a course, we got our next course out to us in a timely manner. We got the calypso shrimp, cornbread with maple butter, and lobster deviled eggs for appetizers. All DELICIOUS! EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection, had great presentation, and bold flavors. The cornbread was nice and warm so you could spread the sweet, savory maple butter on it. It... melted... in... my... MOUTH! . The shrimp were nice and juicy with a great bold flavor. Highly recommend! I also got the citizen cider which was smooth and sweet with a hint of ginger towards the end of each sip. I had the ribs with mashed potatoes as my entree. Those babies were slow cooked, fall-off-the-bone style, well seasoned and flavorful in every bite. Mashed potatoes had a creamy texture with chopped chives on top. They were very tasty. All the food definitely hit the spot. I loved everything I ate. The ambience is a perfect Chicago style sit-down restaurant and it really does scream cozy. FYI though, if your table is near the front entrance door, you will be freezing in the fall and winter time. I'd say get one of those hot fans that hovers over the doors to help keep the warmth in. (Whatever you call them.) All in all, this place is filled with great food, awesome wait staff and killer drinks. Prices are also very reasonable. Definitely give it a shot! read more

Fun atmosphere, attentive and friendly service, plus good food. Recommend for casual weeknight dinners.

This place is nice & cozy. Came here with my friend for restaurant week. I had the lobster deviled eggs which was really 1 egg cut in half. It was good but not really flavorful like I expected. I had the Brussels sprout salad which was good, again nothing really there with flavor. I had the bbq ribs with coleslaw. I don't really like coleslaw but there's was good, the bbq sauce on the ribs was pretty good and had a tangy taste to them. Overall I think it was just okay but nothing that makes me say I just have to go back. I did have there skillet Cookie during the summer and it was pretty. I reluctantly came here again today because my friend wanted to come here for brunch. I ordered the corn beef hash which was actually pretty good flavor wise. The portion was small compared to other restaurants in the area that serve the same thing for the same price and you get double what they serve you here. $14. My friend ordered a mimosa for $9 and we stopped at Tuco & Blondie down the street to wait until our table here was ready and they had mimosas for $3 and an extra $2 for flavor added to it, same serving as this place but significantly cheaper. My friend ordered a bloody Marie our waiter asked if she wanted Tito's or kettle one and if she wanted bacon. My friend had Tito's and bacon added. When we got the bill they charged her $2 for the Tito's and a $1 for one strip of bacon. All in all I think this place over charges and it doesn't match up with the portion sizes. We had the skillet cookie again and it was just okay, I'm over. There's nothing really that makes me want to come back. read more
