Really good food served efficiently & quickly in a friendly, comfortable & classy neighborhood atmosphere. The rotisserie fire is the signature feature of both the menu and the kitchen! The aromas as you enter the doors whet your appetite and the tastes do not disappoint. I had the fresh fish special, which was a grilled & torched sea bass. Was delicious and delicate, which was surprising. My wife bragged about her half chicken and potatoes and my daughter loved her tortilla soup and spinach artichoke dip with chips. Came this morning for brunch/lunch with my best friend and her son. The place itself is nice and cozy and located at the corner amidst a shopping area on Southport. Staff wears masks since it is winter and who knows what's around. We were seated in a booth where the kitchen and bar were visible. It was bustling since it was prime time for brunch. I have always loved crosbys. I used to bring my nieces and nephews here when I lived in the city and was excited to bring my family back today. My 4 year old ordered the chicken tenders and happily started eating the fries while mom and dad took a "mom and dad tax" bite of his chicken tenders. when I looked at the piece of chicken I ate, I noticed it was raw. each piece of chicken on his plate was raw in the middle. we didn't want to make a big deal, accidents happens, and honestly, I've never been in this position before. they apologized and provided my son with a new plate. I just realized I've never written a Yelp review for Crosby's kitchen, when I've been eating here for years. We walked in without reservations on a lovely Saturday afternoon, we were told wait would be 45 minutes, but we were called back after waiting for about 20 minutes, not bad at all, esp considering how nice the weather was that day and how many ppl were out and about and dining here. Service is great, everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is good, i usually always get the lobsta deviled eggs and a wrightwood salad. The spinny dip is always good too. Our table started out with the spinach dip that comes with tortilla chips, which I would order again. I ordered the fried egg breakfast sandwich with the hash brown's. I opted for brunch since I didn't have breakfast. Food was really good. For appetizers we got this Smoky Trout Spread and Filet Sliders. Both fantastic. For entres: Mahi Mahi Sandwich, Prime Rib Skillet and Chicken Salad. All delicious, filling and fresh. For dessert, we grabbed one of each items on Restaurant Week: carrot cake and peanut butter pie. We couldn't decide which was better. Both good, carrot cake was so warm but maybe a tat too sweet. If carrot cake was paired with a side of vanilla ice cream. Woozer. All in all great place. He was so friendly, gave helpful suggestions, and accommodated all of our requests. He also brought me out a candle and some ice cream to celebrate my birthday. We absolutely LOVED him and would come back for him alone! The food is always great! I was debating between the hash and biscuits and gravy, and settled on biscuits and gravy. Blake explained that the biscuits and gravy had the most protein and was the most filling, which I was concerned about. The gravy was so flavorful; I was pleasantly surprised as good biscuits and gravy can be hard to find. There were also big, plentiful chunks of sausage in the gravy. The biscuit was nice and added a flakey, buttery layer to the whole thing. 10/10 would recommend! Honestly Crosby's is one of my favorite places in Southport corridor to dine at. I ordered the roasted chicken since it was their specialty as the waitress described it. It was beyond dry and was lacking in any flavor. I would not recommend this place. Also there is a 3.5% fee added that doesn't go to the waitstaff, it's an administrative fee. I got the Rotisserie chicken and like it was moist and good, but so is a Costco rotisserie chicken for $4.99 and this one was $19. I didn't try the salmon, but It was described as salty, undercooked, but still deserves a 7 because it beats Aldi salmon. The vibes were good, nice dim lighting but not too dark and the waitstaff was really nice. The waiter was good about asking if there were any food restrictions right away. Love this place! Super friendly service. The skillet cornbread came to our table within 5 minutes of ordering. I got the Wright wood with dressing on the side. Did not disappoint. Delicious. My husband ordered the mahi magi sandwich. He said it was fishy tasting and wouldn't get it again. He should have gotten the veggie burger that he had last time. He loves the fries- shoestring. Solid brunch spot in the good ol Southport Corridor neighborhood! I've been to Crosby's more times many times over the years. It really is that go-to spot that's close by with for solid american fare. On this particular brunch visit, it was very busy but we were seated at the bar right away. Woo! The spicy bloody mary was so flavorful with the perfect kick.The garish was on point too (they can look so sad without it!). It came with a beer back which was another a nice touch. The monkey bread is heaven sent. Perfect starter if you're like me and can never choose between a sweet or savory brunch - this way you can have a little bit of both. Rich icing and buttery cinnamon-y goodness. For my main course, I went with the eggs benedict. I wasn't crazy about this dish, but I think this was more personal preference rather than the quality of the food. Husband got the pancakes, which were really yummy! I'm sure we will be back for brunch because we can't stay away from that monkey bread for long. I plan on trying an omelette on next visit! We all ordered the restaurant week menu, which begins with choice or red, white, or Sparkling wine; appetizer; entrée; and dessert. For my appetizer I ordered the Wrightwood salad which comes loaded with toppings - my favorites were the goat cheese, avocado, craisins, cornbread croutons, and the citrus vinaigrette. I ordered the full rack of baby back ribs, which comes with a side of cole slaw and fries. The ribs are super tender and have the perfect amount of char. I'm an online entertainment and food critic and influencer. There's more to restaurants besides the 5 star tourist driven glamorous ones. Sometimes the best restaurants are right under your nose in the neighborhood. Crosby's Kitchen in the Southport area is one of them. When we were there on a Saturday afternoon, the place was packed with a 45 minute wait. Two of us got one of their signature sandwiches which was the Turkey Burger. But this was not the everyday run, boring dull Turkey Burger. This was the best one I've ever had. The house made Turkey Burger was enhanced with a generous pile of ginger and soy Asian Slaw and Marinated Tomato. The burger was lightly crispy on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside. And with the slaw, it was just dripping with an explosion of flavor and juices. The French Fries were thin and crispy. We also got the Wrightwood Salad which again, was not the old same 'ol salad. This had tender rotisserie chicken, craisins, avocado, corn, almonds, cornbread croutons, roasted ted peppers, green onion, goat cheese, with citrus vinaigrette. Fulfilling, plentiful, and bursting with flavors. Prices are very reasonable considering the Chicago market. I highly recommend Crosby's Kitchen. read more

I always look forward to a visit to Crosby's Kitchen. It never disappoints. The hosts at the front are very welcoming and were apologizing because it took five or 10 minutes to get the table ready. The food, as always, was perfect. I love the skillet cornbread! I always get the rotisserie chicken, but I know that all of the other entrées are excellent also. Our server, Neil, was wonderful. He was attentive and helpful. When he gave me the box to take home the rest of the skillet cornbread, he even brought an extra butter to go.
