We always like to grab breakfast after a farmers market trip and we decided to try Range and I'm sure glad we did. Hostess greeted us upon entering and seated us in an awesome spot by the huge open window to enjoy. Nice and chill vibes for a Sunday. Very tough decision but I went with the parsnip omelette with potatoes and sourdough that came with fresh made butter and jam. Let me tell you that omelette was one of the best I've had! So soft and cheesy with parsnip and diced tomatoes inside! The jam and butter combo was top notch to go with REAL Sourdough bread. Overall, if you're in the area give Range a try. I plan on trying dinner next.

I came here for brunch on the recommendation that their pancakes are very special... and they are! They are two huge thick pancakes that are fluffy yet crispy. It's truly like anything else in the city. The kicker is that it comes with real maple syrup. The chocolate chips were $1 extra and so worth it. Prices were extremely fair and reasonable especially for a beautiful restaurant in Lincoln Park. I sat at the bar, but consistently had 3 people waiting on me! Great service :) Highly recommend this place. Actually, don't come here I don't want the secret to get out :p

    Paula's Winter Squash Benedict

Yet another delicious Benedict at Range!! Honestly, I don't even bother looking at the menu anymore bc I know I'm getting their Benedict no matter what. Don't get me wrong, 0% of my brain thinks Paula's Winter Squash Benedict with beet hollandaise is gonna be good (bc beets just taste like crunchy dirt to me), but thankfully my palate is like "STFU and get it". The squash patties were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The thin slice of apple between the patty and egg adds a hint of sweetness to the savory squash patty. And the best part of it all is, of course, is the poached eggs that are perfectly runny, which just coats and binds the individual flavors together so deliciously. Also, I love that their Benedict always comes with a little side salad. I'd pay to get my hands on their vinaigrette recipe! Great service from our friendly server Diana too!

I'd rate this place between a 3 and a 4. The biggest reason I'm giving it a mediocre review is because of the service. We came on a Saturday around 12ish. There were 3 of us. When we walked in, there were a few tables open. The hostess us there were no tables. End of conversation. I asked how long a wait. She said 15 minutes. And then said something about sitting at the bar seats. Yes, of course - why would you not offer that in the first place? We each got a drink. I got a bloody and it wasn't great. It was missing something and came with a lemon instead of olive/pickle. I only get a bloody when I am hungover or after a race so couldn't tell you the ingredient it was missing but it was pretty tasteless and I wouldn't recommend it. It took our food FOREVER to come out. The server eventually came and said there was a large party and sorry for the wait. But come on, it's Saturday brunch. How are you not used to this? We finally got our food. I got a veggie burger - not my usual but sounded good. It was very good. It came with a side salad that had a tasty dressing. My friends liked their food as well. We also got fries. They didn't come out at first so the server said he would check on them. Another girl eventually brought them out, but the server didn't come back for another 15-20 minutes and was like "oh, glad you got your fries." I also asked him for silverware and they never came so I needed to flag down someone else to get silverware, which I feel like is pretty basic for a restaurant. I live close to this place so will likely give it another try because the food was good. I really hope the service is better next time.

Great spot in Lincoln Park for brunch! We ate here on a Sunday morning, and were expecting a long wait. However, we called ahead and the hostess was very friendly and allowed us to put our name on the list. We only ended up needing to wait less than 10 minutes once we arrived. The drinks they have for brunch were fantastic. I had a Chai which was delicious. Not a ton of alcohol which I appreciated, as I was really just looking forward to the Chai. I ordered the eggs which came with potatoes and toast. All of which was fantastic. I rarely rave over scrambled eggs but I swear these were some of the best I've ever had. While it was busy, it wasn't too loud and was perfect for conversation. The service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful. I'm very excited to try their Dinner menu the next time I return. Will definitely come back!

Great service and love the atmosphere bringing a warm cozy farm vibe. Food was really good. The ingredients were fresh and the plates were filling. We came for brunch and the eggs were perfectly cooked - soft & fluffy. Vegetable soup was heavy on potatoes and tortilla chips.

    Apple ginger cake dessert

Nice little restaurant in Lincoln Park. We had passed by for a couple years and finally had the chance to stop in for dinner. Our party of three ordered the Buffalo cauliflower, burger, sweet potato and turnip au gratin and white fish. All were very good! We devoured the cauliflower- nice sauce and flavor. The burger was deemed delicious - very large and a lot of cheese. The au gratin was tasty as was the white fish. We split the Apple ginger cake for dessert and it was outstanding. The service was perfect, the right amount of attentiveness. The place was not full on a Saturday night. The interior was quite dark -- we teased the hubs because he used his phone flashlight to read the menu, but then folks at another table did the same! So, maybe management should consider turning up the lights a bit. It wouldn't hurt the ambiance - the place is cute! All in all, a nice solid restaurant for dinner that feels a special.

    Chicken Sandwich from Range

I was visiting some friends at Depaul and they mentioned this place was pretty good. I've been on a kick to try different Chicken sandwiches around the city, so I tried theirs. Damn thing is huge. Also, i'm not usually a slaw kind of guy on my chicken sandwich, but somehow this all worked. The fries were really good too. Service was really friendly and everyone seemed to pay attention to my water level. Good thing as it's been pretty hot lately. I would highly recommend this place, great vibes and beers too!

All the premier dinners come with salad, cheese, fondue, and the chocolate fondue - You are just choosing what protein you would like. The Prince Geja combination has a little bit of everything. However, we most liked the seafood which includes lobster and the scallops were to die for! Also the beef also cooks well. Favorite dipping sauce included the pimento mayo, chimichurri, and garlic butter. The cheese fondue is quite rich and the bread is quite filling so maybe get as much cheese as you can on each piece of bread. The chocolate fondue, I think is actually the best course as the Belgium chocolate melts so well and has a decadent but not overly sweet flavor. It pairs well with all that is provided for dipping, which includes poundcake, rice Krispies, strawberries. They also have some liquor that they light on fire at first so you can roast the marshmallows. It is such a well thought out experience. Service flows very well from two waiters who take your order set up your fondue pots for each course, but be prepared to spend at least 2 hours on this experience. Check out the Groupon but also I read a review that they just tack on the extra $50 so it's not really too much of a savings. Not sure if this is true.

The truffle-parmesan fries: We couldn't tell if they were too salty or just salty enough, but somehow we couldn't stop eating them! I ordered the baby wedge salad with chicken, and while the chicken looked small at first, it ended up being a large enough portion to last the salad. We were also surprised with complimentary desserts: the Chocolate Chunk Cookie Skillet and Buck Russell's Cake. Though I'm not a sweet person, my dining companions thoroughly enjoyed them.

We were glad to get a seat out on the patio on a lovely Tuesday evening after having spent time at the Zoo just a short walk away. The patio is lovely, two servers handling the large space extremely well. There were some things we had that were standouts, and others that were just fine. The half chicken was excellent, cooked perfectly and rubbed with delicious warming spices, the potatoes and pickled veggies the perfect counterbalance. Similar idea to the dish at Armitage Alehouse, but better seasoned and a lot lighter. The steamed mussels rivaled those of Armitage as well at a fraction of the cost. Very different broth, but the mussels themselves were excellent. We were also really impressed with the tuna tartare, an excellent blend of flavors and textures we could have had seconds on. The crispy shrimp rolls were a slight miss, largely because the shrimp were finely chopped, rather than sliced chunks. You ended up getting more the essence of shrimp than shrimp itself. We also felt the skillet cookie was just fun, no better or worse than we've had at places like Crosby Kitchen. Overall, a really good meal that scrapes being really great at times, and does it at affordable prices with friendly, attentive service.

I really wanted to like it; this was a nine-year anniversary dinner. The restaurant felt a bit bare and sterile, I think I was maybe expecting a little more decor on the table for a Michelin star restaurant. To echo several of the reviews below, the salad was awkward to share and scanty, the soup was good but the bread served with it felt like an afterthought, the sturgeon wasn't anything special though the sauce was quite good, and we are pretty sure the cut of beef was not wagyu or if it was it was not cooked the right way. Not a problem since I was dining with my husband, but I would have preferred my own salad if I was with a less familiar party. The silverware and dishes were works of art in and of themselves, but our table was scratched up considerably. My dessert was presented very creatively - although my husband's was much more straightforward. Dessert was an optional add-in, so a separate bill was brought out for this at the end. PARKING Parking on Halsted on a Saturday night can be a nightmare, and it did take a minute to find street parking. North of the 1800 block is busier because there are several restaurants within a two block radius. Side streets are permit parking after 6pm. Meters on Halsted are $2.50/hr. ATMOSPHERE Willow Room was pretty packed. We had a reservation for 8:15pm and my party of two was seated right away. The restaurant features a full bar, dim lighting and is nice and roomy. They have banquette seating around the perimeter, in addition to tables in the middle. SERVICE Our server, who was very nice and accommodating during our dining experience, came by and gave us our menu's. I had already decided on the RW menu and after review, my friend was interested in the Beef Wellington (not on RW menu). Our server informed us that normally the whole table had to order off of the RW menu if one person does, but said she would check with the kitchen since this was the last day of RW. Luckily, we were able to proceed with ordering from different menu's. FOOD I ordered a raspberry Cosmopolitan. I'm a Riesling/Moscato girlie, but I tasted the Riesling and didn't like it. RW dinner was priced at $60. I ordered: First Course: Caesar Salad (Typical salad, was good) Second Course: Mussels (Tasted fine, came with a baguette) Third Course: Short Rib (Could've been slightly more tender and better seasoned. I've definitely had better. Wouldn't order again.) Fourth Course: Orange Ricotta Donuts (Donuts were very good. Three were served, a few more would have been more filling.) My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and: Truffle Fries (Fries were very tasty. I would order again if I went back.) Beef Wellington (The breading was buttery and very good. The beef could've been more seasoned. I wouldn't order.) Key Lime Pie (Was not sweet and had no taste. When our server came back and saw it was uneaten, she offered to take it off the bill. It should be removed from the menu altogether.) The busboys and server were very attentive. Our water glasses were always filled. OVERALL The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. Of all the food we ordered, I would order the truffle fries and Cosmopolitan again. I did leave full and did take my leftover Short Rib to go. Main dishes needed more seasoning.
