Incredible chips and salsa , birria tacos were bigger than expected , carne seca crisp was great to share with the table. Drinks were good and service during happy hour was fast. Doors open on a beautiful day is very hard to beat. Will come back

This was a great meal! We were seated immediately and our waiter was so kind. The margaritas were delicious and strong. We got the guac for an appetizer that was fresh. We split the al pastor tacos and quesabirria tacos. They were both so good and fresh. The inside outside vibe was super fun on a fall night.

With the area having so many great food places, Old Pueblo Cantina is right near the top of the must go list! Casual and relaxing restaurant. Service is not only friendly but fast and attentive. They really focused on cleanliness after each diner left, never in my life noticed that kind of detail. The food was top notch. The Quesabirras were so mouth watering. The rice and bean side did not disappoint either and I usually don't eat beans but I ate every last one! This establishment has earned a committed customer. Thank you for a great dinner.

Very average Mexican restaurant but it is popular in Chicago. It's on lists where people are saying you must try. We came here on a Friday around 5:30pm. There were three of us (1 child included). We had a reservation, and we were sat at a high table against the wall. It was very tight and we had to move the table to fit our small child on that side. The staff didn't really help and seemed annoyed but other people also had to do this at other tables. It was okay, I got a burrito, it had chicken, and grilled vegetables. Very average. We also got the guacamole and my partner got the shrimp skewers which came with rice and beans. He liked it. He also got the elotes but it was in a bowl without any chips. He liked it. I got a margarita and my partner also got one they were good not great. My son got a taco. There were a lot of kids in the place. The staff served politely and were mostly efficient.

Drinks were strong!! Margarita was delicious and a good time. Low-lit ambiance so great date spot or friend hangout if you're looking for some good Mexican food. Service was quick and very attentive.

Happy Hour menu

Last Friday we had a long work day so decided to search for a happy hour between where we work and the kid's school. We had driven by Old Pueblo Cantina many times and but never stopped in. We were just in the mood for a good drinks so we had the seasonal marg and a watermelon cocktail. Both were really good. We sat at the bar but there were a lot of tables. The decor was very traditional rustic Tex mex Southwestern feel. If we were hungry we may have tried one of their infamous cheese crisps which looks like a fusion pizza. The bartenders took good care of us. I'll probably stop in again at some point.

Reservations are a must if you want to dine at Old Pueblo Cantina. Food : I would give 4 stars. The chips were extremely oily. Otherwise the food was pretty good. The Salsa had a cilantro and spicy kick which I loved. The cheese crisp was good, but the portion sizes are so big I don't think I would order it again. I ordered the shrimp burrito and it was packed full of cheese, shrimp, and peppers. Definitely order if you like burritos. The shrimp quesadilla could be split by two people it was so big. Service: 5 stars. Waitress was really good and checked on us often. The restaurant is deceivingly big.

My first visit to Old Pueblo Cantina was everything I hoped for--and then some. The weather was perfect, so we grabbed a table on the patio and soaked in the Lincoln Park sunshine. Victor took great care of us from the start--attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations. Right away, we were greeted with fresh chips and salsa. You could tell the chips were handmade--still warm, perfectly crisp, and lightly salted. A strong first impression. We kicked things off with a round of Lobo Loco Margaritas, and wow--this drink lives up to the hype. Made with 100% blue agave tequila, cucumber, jalapeño, and lime, it's bright, spicy, and super refreshing. It's no wonder it made Modern Luxury's list of Top 10 Margaritas in Chicago. For starters, we shared the Chorizo Queso Fundido--a bubbling bowl of melted chihuahua cheese, sweet corn, roasted poblanos, and crumbled chorizo, served with soft flour tortillas. It was gooey, rich, and completely addictive. From there, we dug into the: - Chicken Skewers - Tender chunks of chicken with grilled peppers and onions, all glazed in their smoky, slightly sweet arbol sauce. Big flavor and beautifully charred. - Queso Enchiladas - A comforting, cheese-lover's dream. Loaded with longhorn cheddar and chihuahua cheese, then topped with crisp lettuce, cabbage, pico, and crema. A perfect bite of creamy and crunchy. The menu focuses on Sonoran-style cuisine, and it really shines with bold flavors and fresh ingredients in every dish. Old Pueblo Cantina delivers a memorable mix of warmth, quality, and a bit of southwest magic.

I am so happy my friend suggested getting dinner here! They have a great Taco Tuesday special - $13 taco platters which include 3 tacos, rice, and beans. It was a great deal! The rice and beans were spicy and delicious. This special is also available on to-go orders. Their chips and salsa that they give the table is also delicious. I was a huge fan! I also got the Lobo Loco margarita, which is a spicy margarita with cucumber. It's unique and so refreshing! Definitely one of the best margaritas I have ever had. The interior is cozy. Our server was very helpful. I would definitely come back!

Honestly, great takeout! This place has a great vibe and the takeout was very quick. The steak tacos were delicious and on Tuesdays, they are an absolute steal! Guac is a great portion size and very flavorful with tomato and a hint of lime. Highly recommend and will plan on going back to enjoy eating on the patio.

Our 2nd time here. Decent all around. Service, drinks, the food is good overall too. You won't necessarily be "wowed" but good enough.

All the premier dinners come with salad, cheese, fondue, and the chocolate fondue - You are just choosing what protein you would like. The Prince Geja combination has a little bit of everything. However, we most liked the seafood which includes lobster and the scallops were to die for! Also the beef also cooks well. Favorite dipping sauce included the pimento mayo, chimichurri, and garlic butter. The cheese fondue is quite rich and the bread is quite filling so maybe get as much cheese as you can on each piece of bread. The chocolate fondue, I think is actually the best course as the Belgium chocolate melts so well and has a decadent but not overly sweet flavor. It pairs well with all that is provided for dipping, which includes poundcake, rice Krispies, strawberries. They also have some liquor that they light on fire at first so you can roast the marshmallows. It is such a well thought out experience. Service flows very well from two waiters who take your order set up your fondue pots for each course, but be prepared to spend at least 2 hours on this experience. Check out the Groupon but also I read a review that they just tack on the extra $50 so it's not really too much of a savings. Not sure if this is true.

Also appreciated that they were accommodating for the vegetarian in our party. Everything except the cheese course can be made vegan friendly as well. The service was top notch! Appreciated that they called me ahead of time to confirm our reservation and ask about food allergies. All the staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. They were quick to refill items and answer any questions we had. The location is classic fondue restaurant, cozy and romantic. However, also perfect for catching up with a friend. I love the history in this place and really enjoyed the mood lighting. Pricing was fantastic for the quality of service, food, and drinks! Look forward to many happy returns!

Back Again - Gemini Pt 2, but this time for brunch!…read more I enjoyed my first dinner experience here so much last week that we had to come right back to try their weekend brunch. From the start, the hostesses were inviting and lovely. The restaurant is very pretty, warmly blending a modern style with a touch of classic French bistro elegance. I'm mostly so impressed with how versatile the restaurant actually can be, shifting seamlessly from an elegant, upscale dinner setting with its beautiful U-shaped marble bar to a bright, whimsical, and enchantingly airy brunch setting. The fully opened bifold windows are adjacent to the pergola-topped patio, letting a glorious, cascading breeze drift through the space to create a wonderful indoor-outdoor flow and a lively weekend energy. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered: Super Green Vegetable Salad: The kale, broccoli, avocado, asparagus, and peas were crisp and fresh. We loved this so much during our first dinner visit last week that we had to order it again for brunch! Spectacular! Nova Lox Platter: The wild salmon topped with diced red onion, capers, and hard-boiled egg crumble, served with an everything bagel and a side of chive cream cheese, was excellent. French Onion Frittata: The rich gruyère and caramelized onions were wonderful. If you're a French onion soup lover like me, this is a can't-miss!! Definitely will be reordered and often. Fantastic! Daily Omelette: Ordered from the special menu, featuring black truffle salsa, mascarpone, and Calabrian chile honey. It was absolutely phenomenal, perfectly cooked, and the flavor combination was incredible. Our server, Sarah, was excellent and made the experience even better - we even share the same name! The management team was also incredibly warm and attentive, stopping by our table to welcome us back. Returning twice in one week says it all. This restaurant has made it into my regular rotation and is hands down one of my new favorites!

The restaurant itself is pretty as is the outdoor dining area if aesthetics are important to you. Service is also great. Food wise...good portions overall. However, all I want is a little bit more: a little more butter for the delicious bread, a little more time in the oven for the Brussel sprouts to soften them up, and a little more cream to accompany the carrots. Also, a few more croutons in the Caesar salad! All that being said, the steak was well seasoned and who can ever object to a tasty side of fries? Dining here, you're getting a healthier experience as opposed to heavy seasoning, butter, sauce, etc, but it's good overall.

That is to say: I am not throwing words of praise like "one of a kind" and "phenomenal" around lightly. Both are different and still amazing. Sparrow has a vibe straight out of the 1920s. The decor, signage, use of color, and absence of screens or TV's all contribute to the theme. The music is also appropriate and plays at the perfect volume to be pleasant without forcing one to raise their voice. I tried the Green Daisy and a House Old Fashioned. The Green Daisy was boozy and had some herbaceous notes. A little tartness and a little sweetness helped balance the drink out and make for a phenomenal sipper. I loved the creativity with this one! The House Old Fashioned was also well done, assembled with quality ingredients in balance with one another. Nothing wrong with a well-executed classic. The prices are more or less reasonable considering the location and overall market, with bevies costing around $16. The bar staff is excellent! Very friendly and welcoming! Final verdict: A spot where I can say come for the drinks and stay for the vibe. It's the kind of place where walking in you are transported a century into the past. Everything about the experience, including the atmosphere, drinks, service, and prices, is calling me to return and bring some people with me.
