I'm impressed with this restaurant. I do find it a bit a comical that the best dish I had when I visited for restaurant week was the filet sliders appetizer. Not to say that the rest of the food was good - it was - but the sliders were on another level. I took one home to my husband and he not only agreed with me, we've been back to get just the sliders. Honestly, you can make a quality meal from a variety of the appetizers on the dinner menu. Outside of that love affair, the restaurant is busy, gives off a cozy aesthetic, and looks compact when you're walking around. I sat at the bar, and my service there was very friendly and personable. Not sure if they take reservations, but I do advise that you make such if you're going to go. If not, be prepared to wait during the weekends, including for seats at the bar. read more

Dropped into town and hadn't seen the bestie and her partner in ages and this is their fave. Well we had a blast. The carnivore loved the steak and fries. As the resident pescetarian those lobster deviled eggs were a fabulous seafood-inspired Easter treat. I can't...I'm literally blown away. On our way to Midway from Wrigleyville, we stopped for breakfast/lunch. The service was amazing (hope I don't get this wrong...shout out to Alfonso! Sorry if I get the name wrong--I was one Rose deep!). The food...I had the chicken dip. Yes, a chicken dip--I never even knew that was a thing. But trust me, it's a thing. This place was bustling in early afternoon on a weekend. My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch but they were still on their brunch menu (it was after 2 pm), which was mostly breakfast but whatever. Our waiter didn't seem to understand that talking quietly and rapidly in a loud space meant that I was going to ask him to repeat himself multiple times. Other than that he was fine. We went with breakfast items: the biscuits and gravy (which also included eggs) for him, and a few sides for me: hash browns, sausage and a biscuit. The biscuit was fine; the hash brown was a thick square (think a piece of lasagna), herby tasting but not what I was expecting. Likewise the three pallid plump links of sausage that seemed barely kissed by a pan. I cut one open and it was just not appealing, but happily the manager swapped it out for bacon which was perfectly fine (I would have also been happy at that point just taking it off the bill). The biscuit and gravy skillet was tasty, according to my boyfriend. Overall, I might come back for a meal other than brunch, but this was only so-so. read more

Our waiter was so kind. The team seated us quickly even though it was in the middle of lunch rush. It was a little too hot to eat outside but they do offer outdoor seating if preferred. We had the cornbread that has actual corn in it. I tried the ribs. Glad to know you can swap out the fries for a different side. However, the sides are a bit over priced. The rigatoni burrata is spectacular! However, I ordered it for delivery and it was $27 for 14 pieces of rigatoni. It is for real so good, but $2 per rigatoni is absurd. Every other pasta place I usually can get 2 or 3 meals out of it. I get that prices are up but this feels like too much of a money grab...Bummer. read more

Really good food served efficiently & quickly in a friendly, comfortable & classy neighborhood atmosphere. The rotisserie fire is the signature feature of both the menu and the kitchen! After having a previously negative experience, the management from Crosby's reached out to my sister, who had also had a negative experience, and offered to make it up to us by inviting us to a complimentary brunch for whichever date worked best for us. We were so surprised and flattered! We've heard overall good things about this restaurant and we must've gone on a bad night because when we returned, the food was amazing! Reliable, quality neighborhood restaurant with a lovely outdoor patio and something for everyone. We've been coming to Crosby's since we moved to Chicago in 2017. The food has always been very good, and the servers all extremely friendly. It's the kind of place where you know what to expect every time you go - the menu rarely changes, nor does the decor, but there's always a dish or two you crave that is made extremely well each time. Even though I rarely eat meat these days, I continue to come back for their turkey burger. It is very well seasoned, and topped with an excellent asian slaw that adds quite a bit of texture and depth of flavor to the dish. The bun is equally tasty, and stands up impressively well to the large patty. We've also been fans of their veggie burger, a well-made quinoa patty with tons of flavor and crunch. It does tend to fall apart, but it's a great play on something often overlooked. You also can't go wrong with their sides, from the delicious mashed potatoes, to fresh veggies and a new mac and cheese. While they do have a glass of wine or two I enjoy, what falls short for me is their drink selection and cocktails. They're fine, but nothing too special. I will also say that despite trying it several times, the spinach and artichoke dip leaves little to be desired, very little seasoning and chips that border on stale. But, we each have our dishes we crave, and continue to love, all these years later. I'd love to see them try some new dishes on the menu, but when your restaurant is packed every day of the week, I guess you stick with what works! read more

Our table started out with the spinach dip that comes with tortilla chips, which I would order again. I ordered the fried egg breakfast sandwich with the hash brown's. We walked in without reservations on a lovely Saturday afternoon, we were told wait would be 45 minutes, but we were called back after waiting for about 20 minutes, not bad at all, esp considering how nice the weather was that day and how many ppl were out and about and dining here. Service is great, everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is good, i usually always get the lobsta deviled eggs and a wrightwood salad. The spinny dip is always good too. It was okay! I ordered the Brussels sprout salad because I love them so. I didn't realize you could make a salad from Brussels sprout but it was really good. They have seating along Cornelia and Southport min addition to the indoor seating. My husband and I ate here a couple of nights ago and it was crowded so one would expect the food to be amazing. We had the lobster deviled eggs, which were good. The pork chop he ordered came with sauerkraut that can be best described as vinegar soaked coleslaw. He enjoyed the pork chop but the rest of items on the plate were not edible. I ordered the roasted chicken since it was their specialty as the waitress described it. It was beyond dry and was lacking in any flavor. I would not recommend this place. Also there is a 3.5% fee added that doesn't go to the waitstaff, it's an administrative fee. It's tacky to see that on a menu and they should just raise the prices on the items instead of putting that on their menus. read more
