Large vacuum cleaner with bag & hose, going through our window, and up into our attic

Richard (Critter Control salesman) came to our house & gave us a quote for $7,546.03. He pointed out several places where rodents could be getting in to our attic, which they sealed. Those holes had been missed by a previous rodent exclusion contractor (Terminex) that we had used several years ago. Richard also replaced a small area of fiberglass insulation over our workshop, with special rat-repellant insulation. Most of our attic floor does not have insulation, as our house & attic is foam-insulated from the slab, up the walls, to the peak of our roof. Alvaro (crew boss) came out with a 5-man crew that used a huge vaccum cleaner with over 100 feet of hose, to vacuum up all the rodent droppings in our two attics . Then they sprayed a compound to neutralize the rodent pheromes (smell) that attracts more rodents. Alvaro was very helpful, explaining exactly what they were doing, and pointing out all the holes they filled. After they finished, they put a Ring Camera focused on the traps they set in the attic, so that they could monitor any rat activity. They started work around 9am, and were done by 11am. Critter Control provides a 10-year warranty on their work. If we hear/see any critters, we can call them, and they will come out. With no insulation in our ceiling, we can hear the critters as they run around in our attic.

Puppies are happy the visitors are gone.

Never returned any calls or text messages and it's been 3 weeks. Obviously they do really well without business as a small business.

On the down side, they suggested I do a $6,000 complete replacement of all attic insulation.

Chances are if you live in an older home not built up to today's building codes, and even if you…read moredo, the insulation & ventilation in your attic may not be up to par with the current standards. My home was built in the late '70s, and the previous homeowners did nothing to rid the home of its original rockwhool insulation. The minuscule 6-8" of insulation that was once in my attic was ridden with rodent feces/urine, turning to dust, and wasn't as effective as it once was. This not only caused my home to have imbalanced heating/cooling, but also strained my HVAC system, making it work significantly harder than it otherwise would. Combine the lack of insulation with improper ventilation, and you set yourself up for a home that's not comfortable to live in, while in the process of taking precious dollars away from your pocket, all due to increased electric/gas bills. I called Energy Attic back in 2019 to see what they had to say about my attic, and they came out to do an energy audit. They filled me in on everything that was wrong, and what I could do to fix it. The estimate they provided was very insightful, breaking down the cost of every service, and allowing you as a homeowner to do what's best for your house and pocketbook. At the time I was unable to afford the job, so I decided to hold off on the project. Fast forward to early 2022, I gave them yet another call, and due to a mishap in getting the square footage of my home incorrect (was overestimated due to some vaulted ceilings), we decided to have them come back out to my house to give things a look. I spoke with their sales representative Mike for a decent amount of time, making sure I understood what was best. Mike's insight was incredibly valuable, and I ended up going with a whole host of things to improve my attic space: - Removing all old insulation - Sealing any air gaps - Spraying in fiberglass insulation to R49 (16") - Installing a radiant barrier - Upgrading existing fan with a solar fan Energy Attic ended up scheduling the job for the next week, and three of their employees ended up working for nine hours, knocking everything out of the park the same day. I've had a lot of contractors & such work on my home, and these gentlemen treated my home with dignity, cleaning up after themselves, and ensuring the job is done perfectly. Almost immediately I was able to notice the consistency in temperature throughout the home, and not just that, but also my HVAC system kicking on less. I'm stoked that the days of dealing with certain rooms being colder/hotter than others are gone, and my attic space can properly reflect any heat thrown at it away with the radiant barrier, and push any heat out that did get in with the solar fan, regardless of wind conditions outside. While a job like this is costly, making your home comfortable to live in year-round is very much worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to contact Energy Attic for any of your attic or HVAC needs. I'm pleased with what they have done, and I can't lie, my attic space sure does look better than ever!

I should go edit my Google review. I'm very irritated and…read moreeven after days of giving myself to calm down, I'm still angry. I know for a fact that I asked if the quote and payment we gave for attic insulation, included over the garage. I was told yes, and I know I asked at least three times, and was told yes. The two other people in the home, heard it as well. The over the garage was not insulated. Now I understand, that I should have checked before I left the other review. That's on me. I shouldn't have taken anyone else's word, and I should have gotten the ladder and looked. When I texted the man who came here, I was told yes "no, it only includes over living space". The insulation over the living space is nicely done. I am very pleased with that. Just very irritated that, what I was told was going to happen, and included, turns out it's not.

The duct cleaning was scheduled for a different day. The techs arrived early and were very efficient and thorough in the job they performed. The work and cleanup was completed to my satisfaction.
