We got a few items to share: lamb shank with rice and the makanek and kashkaval manoushe. The lamb shank with rice, side salad and came with their signature pita bread along with the 4 dips: garlic, hummus, yogurt and baba ghanouj. The portion size was good and the food was delicious. I really like their manoushe. It goes well with the dip. The food was made fresh upon ordering.

It's a small restaurant but there are a few tables there if you'd like to sit and eat there. They've got one of those things that stands upright and rotates while holding a big chunk of meat on it. That's something I used to enjoy back when I was a meat eater. It definitely caught my husband's eye. If he hadn't already been set on eat at Shiok Express that day, I think he would have ordered some kind of meat dish from Golden Pita, so he could have the meat carved freshly from that rotating thingy...(I really need to figure out the proper word for that thingy!) I ordered the Vegan Special which came with 3 pieces of falafel, a spinach pie, stuffed grape leaf, tabbouleh salad, rice, pita bread and hummus and tahini dips. This was a wonderful meal and I highly recommend it. Even the rice was tasty. This one order gives you so much variety. The only thing I didn't like was the tabbouleh salad. There was too much parsley in this salad. Everything else was delicious and I really hope to go back there again sometime! Service: Fair Parking: Plentiful and free. Location: Convenient. The fatayer, lachma b'ajeen, ma'amoul, my personal favorite graibe are all here baked on the premises. He has a sublime looking knaifeh and baklawas. Small place but full of brilliant Syrian and Middle Eastern delights. The ma'amoul he makes are better than mine per my husband. Definitely recommended.

The mixed chicken and beef shawarma at $18.99 was tender, well-spiced and so generously portioned it could easily feed two people. The lamb gyro at $13.49 was rich, aromatic and beautifully seasoned, one of the highlights of the whole meal. The kibbeh at $3.99 is their newest addition. A traditional Middle Eastern dish made with spiced ground meat and bulgur. The traditional yogurt drink paired perfectly with the bold flavours of the shawarma. Refreshing and authentic. Everything came out in massive portions at great value. The food is fresh, flavourful and satisfying from start to finish. Palmyra Grill serves platters, bowls and wraps, so there is something for everyone at the table.

It was good that the falafels were extra crispy but I felt like I could taste the oil itself, and the eggplant was completely soggy with oil. The potatoes did not have the excess grease problem and were nicely seasoned. The hummus was good but drizzled with oil which was the last thing I wanted more of. The pita was the kind you can buy at the grocery store, would have been nicer if it was warmed up. The veggie deluxe plate was about $20 after tax, which is towards the upper end of prices for donair shops. This plate does contain more of a variety than the falafel plates at lots of shops though. The amount of food was enough that I felt full. I can't really say if it was worth it because I was so turned off by the greasy eggplant that I wasn't able to really enjoy it. To me the staff was neither friendly nor unfriendly. Anything with falafel takes a little longer because they fry them to order, so considering that, the wait time for my food was reasonable.

The toum was really good, but that did not make up for everything else going on. They get a second star from me because when I ordered I also bought a bottle of their ayran to drink later, and that did end up being pretty good, so I feel my rating should acknowledge that there was something that wasn't a complete miss. But I definitely wouldn't eat here again.

Garlic sauce a little runny, but good. Liked their hot sauce. It's very vinegar-y and hot all at once. Pricing a bit on high side, but then again it's Vancouver.
