The food can be had either in shawarma form ($8), or in plate form (shawarma with sides such as rice) ($15 or so). They must be making a killing here. The place is a bit slow to make the food, but the quality is decent. However, the sauce is a bit on the liquidy side. I ended up making a mess when my lunch leaked. Not sure if anyone cares, but they have gluten free options. Worth trying once, but the price makes me hesitant to come by too often.

The first time we went there, we weren't as familiar with Donair items, so we ordered the chicken shawarma platter. We were blown away by how generous their portions were, the worker kept pouring the meat onto the box along with everything else (we really thought the box wasn't able to close!). Then as we come back more often, we tried out their other items, their lamb is now our favorite. The seasonings they put into their lamb is different than ones like Donair Dude, it is much more unique. Their platter's sides are just unbeatable, garlic potatoes, hummus, salad, and pickled goods! Every time my girlfriend and I go there, we only order one platter to share, and we still can't finish it! Regardless which worker is serving you theyll all treat you generously, must try!

Probably the most disappointing falafel experience I've had in Vancouver. I had the Vegetarian…read morePlate and nothing tasted fresh. The tomatoes in the Greek salad were on the verge of being mushy (I ate them, but considered discarding them, and if they'd been any more mushy I would've thrown them out), the hummus was grainy, the pickled onions tasted kind of funky, the samosa wrapper was not crisp, the dolma filling was weirdly dense, the pita was store-bought and very thin (I recognize this is intentional and a style some people like, I just prefer a thicker pita for dipping). The toum was really good, but that did not make up for everything else going on. They get a second star from me because when I ordered I also bought a bottle of their ayran to drink later, and that did end up being pretty good, so I feel my rating should acknowledge that there was something that wasn't a complete miss. But I definitely wouldn't eat here again.

After requesting to have it fried I was surprised to see it come out of a microwave. Considering it's also the same price as superbaba I would suggest that of you're looking for a falafel save your money and go elsewhere. Staff were polite and place was clean for what that's worth. Hope you chicken lovers find something decent but if falafel is what you're seeking this is a hard pass.

Service is great, dog friendly which is huge! But, this 12$ dish trio of dips is advertised as coming with three dips, sliced cucumbers, olives, pita and chips and well it left a lot to be desired. There was three cucumber slices, no olives and no pita just the crumbled up bottom of the bag of chips, super disappointing and overpriced! Shawarma fries had great seasoning but were definitely mushy, and we didn't let them sit around as we were starving. Burger was fabulous! Maybe it was just a bad day? But you'd think a shawarma place like this wouldn't run out of pita. Maybe they should double fry the fries so they don't congeal. $70 bill, not cheap. If I go back I'll stick to plain fries and the burger, skip dips and shawarma fries.

I was in need of a quick lunch, so I decided to try this place out. I ordered the Hodge Podge ($12 incl tax), a plate with falafel, rice, roast potato, a dolma, tabouleh, house salad, hummus, pita, and tahini (usually tzatziki, but they switched them to make this plate vegan). The plate was ready in 3 minutes. The falafel was good, adequately spiced, not too oily, and nicely textured. Nothing else was all that interesting. The spiced rice was nice but bland; same with the potato. The tabouleh was decent; the house salad was lame. The hummus was fine. Overall, I was definitely full, but there was nothing special about the plate. Okay spot for an inexpensive, quick meal.

The menu at Shiok Express is limited and heavy on meat, which doesn't work so well for me as I'm Pescatarian. Consequently, we made a stop at Golden Pita just outside Lougheed Mall so that I could grab something there for my lunch while my husband would eat food from Shiok Express. It's a small restaurant but there are a few tables there if you'd like to sit and eat there. They've got one of those things that stands upright and rotates while holding a big chunk of meat on it. That's something I used to enjoy back when I was a meat eater. It definitely caught my husband's eye. If he hadn't already been set on eat at Shiok Express that day, I think he would have ordered some kind of meat dish from Golden Pita, so he could have the meat carved freshly from that rotating thingy...(I really need to figure out the proper word for that thingy!) I ordered the Vegan Special which came with 3 pieces of falafel, a spinach pie, stuffed grape leaf, tabbouleh salad, rice, pita bread and hummus and tahini dips. This was a wonderful meal and I highly recommend it. Even the rice was tasty. This one order gives you so much variety. The only thing I didn't like was the tabbouleh salad. There was too much parsley in this salad. Everything else was delicious and I really hope to go back there again sometime! Service: Fair Parking: Plentiful and free. Location: Convenient.
