You know a place is good when you walk in 10 minutes after they open for a Wednesday lunch and there are people at every table. I had the beef bowl, which was delicious, though as I looked around me, the fried chicken with fries definitely looked like the choice meal. Went to Crisp yesterday for lunch. I loved the atmosphere, long communal tables, with great choices of beverages from the cooler (both Asian inspired and American classics). I chose the Green Tea with Black Tea, Barley, and White Tea. It was un-sweetened and full of antioxidants, nice and refreshing. For lunch, I took the Korean beef burrito with brown rice substitute to go. The burrito itself was huge, think Chipotle huge, and full of freshly prepared ingredients and tons of beef pilled high. The only downside was that the burrito itself was extremely sweet, and while I know most Korean beef is prepared this way, it was almost sickly sweet like a dessert. I was expecting it to be just a little bit more savory. The sauce placed on the side gave it a bit more kick and balanced things out a bit, according to my bf. My only other critique of Crisp is that there menu is a bit small with only about 3-4 choices underneath each category, but they do have a store front location on Broadway, and it's not really a sit down place. Wished there were just a couple more items that sounded mouth watering enough to jump off the menu at me! Overall, I love the concept and the décor, and I'll be back to try something else. read more

That first bite...when your Crisp korean fried chicken cherry is popped...is a sensation unlike any other. If you've never had Korean style fried chicken, like us on our first visit, no words (certainly not by this author) will be articulate enough to describe the crunchy, saucy, moist, spicy, sweet, salty absolutely contradictory combination of flavors dancing some sort of Korean pop dance (a la Hyori, Se7en, etc) on your tongue. It's simply fantastic. Get their Seoul Sassy chicken, get a whole chicken, bring lots of friends and lots of alcohol, and your night will be off to a great start...guaranteed. Their Buddha Bowls (Korean Bi Bim Bop with a twist) is decent, only because if you've had Bi Bim Bop, you expect meat and rice in a sizzling hot stone bowl and the cold veggies in a cold metal bowl that show up, no matter how well marinated and flavored, just don't quite meet those expectations. Have yet to try the other stuff as the Seoul Sassy is just so good, but will definitely be back for more. Take heed, they are closed on Mondays. You don't want to be knocking on a dark storefront at 8PM on a Monday starving and craving Crisp, only left to feel like Harold and Kumar when they realized that their White Castle was replaced by some cheap burger joint. read more

when i lived in lakeview, i came here after almost every long bike ride (and no i do not mean hipster-fixie bike riding). the seoul sensation was my go-to refueler. the chicken wings are almost too gigantic to be real, but the sauces are excellent. read more

Food is good. Wings are delicious, bowls are just okay. The bowls are usually cold when they arrive, but they are big and pretty good. They charge extra for brown rice which kind of annoys me, but whatever. My guy and I usually get one bowl and five wings and that is totally enough food. My big complaint about Crisp is their furniture and set up. It is so dumb! They have these giant long, wide, heavy tables and then long, wide, heavy benches to sit on it's tiny in there. It's always crowded, so there is intense competition for the seating, and you have to sit awkwardly with strangers, which you can tell nobody likes. Once you've secured a spot on a bench near the wall, there is no getting up and you are trapped. It's just stupid. They should get some smaller tables so you can comfortably eat a meal. I hate getting food to go from here, too, because they put everything in styrofoam which is environmentally irresponsible. Went today, on a Monday at 2 pm, and it was a crazy shit show in there, so I can't even imagine how it is on the weekends. I would not be surprised if there were fistfights or stabbings over securing a table. read more

not really sure if you can call this korean food, but it's definitely tasty. all of the different types of fried chicken are excellent and the bibimbop burrito with brown rice is strangely addicting. the place itself is a little cramp so i would recommend take out or delivery since the food stands up pretty well to the commute. it may be a little on the pricey side, but the food is pretty distinct and a nice change of pace from typical asian fare. read more

Fried chicken was so dry and tough I spat out most of it. I lived in Lakeview when Crisp first opened, and I loved their fried chicken. I used to get it every Sunday I happened to be in the neighborhood the other day, so I picked up a whole plain jane, even though I was in a hurry. There was very little meat on half of the pieces, and they were so overcooked I couldn't chew through the meat. It was like a jerky treat for dogs. read more

Visited this place for the first time today and will definitely be back. It's a Korean BBQ fried chicken place and my god it is delicious. The restaurant is cozy with seating for about 25-30 people. You place your order at the register and they call your name when your food is ready. The staff is friendly and there is a lot to choose from. Can I say WOW! I had high expectations because this place was referred to us for having great Bibimbap and they do. Everything taste so fresh. We tried quite a bit of food; the Buddha bowls, Chi-town Chicken Bowl, Hot Wings, and Chicken Strips and Fries. This place serves great food at a reasonable price. Be forewarned it is small, and gets packed. Seats are hard to come by but they try and get people with food seats instead of people who are sitting waiting for food or to order still. Great place and good food. I ordered the Baby Bi Bim Bop, which was really like a "normal" bi bim bop that I've had at other places. I think mine was called the Buddah Bowl, or something- it was vegetarian. The person I was eating with had one with meat. I opted for the organic brown rice, which was a dollar or so more, and man, I have never had rice like that before. It was sticky and had a great flavor to it. The veggies and the egg on top were good too. At first I thought I might not have enough sauce because they just gave my one little tiny plastic container vs. other places where I usually get the whole bottle. But, it was plenty and it tasted great. The only downside would be the size of the place and the table layout. It is a small place with seating at the window and three large picnic tables. When we went one picnic table was taken by the owners (?) or managers (?) who were actually being quite loud and annoying- slamming notebooks on the table and talking loudly. Really, guys, not good for business. When we were ready to sit, there was one whole table free, so it was fine. However, you may want to plan to take your meal to go as there may not be enough seating. Overall, great place, good food. I would definitely go back. read more

Theres nothing to say that hasnt already been said about this place but damn its some good chicken!! We got the whole chicken meal for $20 which came with 2 sides and 2 drinks. On one half we had the Seoul Sassy which was amazing. Sweet and hot at the same time, a ton of flavor. The other half we had the sauce that is more soy sauce based, which was also tasty, but the BBQ was my favorite. Be prepared to get messy and lick your fingers clean! There was so much chicken we had enough to take some home and enjoy the next day. The fries are good but a little thin for me...think McDonalds. The fried mushrooms were decent, but I dont think Id get them again. This place is seriously the best wings/chicken in the city in my opinion, I will be back for sure! read more

Me and my party ordered the jumbo wings here. Honestly, the wings were a bit dried. So I'm not a huge fan. However, their bulgorgi (Seoul steak) bowl was pretty good. Tasted pretty much what normal bulgorgi should be. So all in all, this place is ok. read more

I love Crisp! I've only ever gotten the chicken strips with Seoul Sassy sauce, and they're amazing. I order the 3-piece chicken strips, but they usually give you 4 or 5 strips in the order, which is a nice bonus. My boyfriend and I have noticed that you get more food (more strips for me, more/bigger wings for him) if you order and eat in the restaurant than if you order to-go or use a delivery app. Try it! read more

Went there for lunch on a Saturday with my friend who got the recommendation from someone. I had the wings with Seoul Sassy sauce and some of the fries we ordered together. Five huge wings, I could barely finish them. So delicious! Not overly battered or sauced. Sometimes you have those cravings for artery-clogging fried chicken goodness, and this hit the spot! The wings were so good that I hardly ate the fries (which could use a little more salt in my taste, but there's a shaker on the table). I will definitely be coming back. read more

I love going here directly after working out at Bally's. The owner, Dan, is really friendly and is always smoking cigarettes and talking on the cell phone outside. The Seoul Sassy and BBQ wings are excellent. The Baby Buddha is excellent as well. It did get quite busy after Hungry Hound gave it high marks, but business has since plateaued. read more

this place is solid. i really really liked it. who can go wrong with asian style wngs. all i really need are a couple wings and a bowl of rice. throw in the kim-chee and i'm as happy as can be. which the guy threw in the kimchi for free for me. probably because we ordered an enormous amount of food. the same guy even came back and asked if everything was ok and brought us all water. but i am really glad he threw the kimchi in for us because it was awesome. probably the freshest kim-chii've had in awhile. i paid $4 for "seasonal" kimchi and i'm pretty sure came out of a huge bottle from the asian store. great food, great service - what more can you ask for? i will go back, yes i will.... read more

Deelish! Walked in on a Saturday night just before 8 to place an order to go. We heard about this place from a friend who claimed it had the best fried chicken... After a fatty, fried food craving and reading yelp reviews, we decided to make the venture to Crisp. We were able to order right away and decided on the Seoul Sassy and BBQ along with some fried shrooms and brown rice. We sat around for about 7 minutes, if that, while I read up on some Chicago news in the reading materials available to customers. I really enjoyed the casual, yet contemporary decor and friendly, but not too over the top customer service. After arriving home, we began the feast. Our favs were the BBQ chicken and the mushrooms with two accompanying dipping sauces!!! Unfortunately we were a bit let down by the lack of flavor of the Seoul Sassy compared with the BBQ style chicken, but hey overall we thought it was a winner. read more
