I can't believe I haven't reviewed Cricket's before! This place is a hidden treasure and a true Madison staple. If you want wings, this is one of the best spots in town. In my opinion it is the best. I drive from Harvest to Cricket's newly every game day just to grab wings and bring them back home for friends and family. My go-to is the Honey Gold. You can eat in, but it can be a pretty tight space at peak times and they have definitely outgrown the layout over the years. The only real downside is the bathrooms are tiny and tucked down a narrow hallway toward the back, but honestly, when the wings are this good, who is focused on the bathrooms? My daughter keeps telling me the burgers are great and that I should try one. I probably will someday, but it is hard to order anything else when the wings are so good. I went to Crickets for lunch. I ordered a burger with fries and my partner ordered a burger with sweet potato fries. We didn't have to wait long and received our orders quickly and efficiently. The burgers were very tasty and the lettuce, tomato and onions were all freshly added to the burger and tasted delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. The sweet potato fries were also well cooked and we're tasty. It's located in a strip mall and might not be appealing to the eye but this place was packed at lunch time and I heard someone say that they crank out wings at a rapid pace. My server was very nice and friendly. She refilled my water when it was low and checked in on me several times. The space doesn't jump out to you but the food was excellent so it didn't really matter to me. For a large wing platter, which came with 12 wings, fries and a drink was $16. Ate four wings and got sick. the wings had been nicely cooked and the oil didn't taste too rancid but did smell very rancid. Felt fine after loosing the wings I ate and no lasting effect. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night shortly after opening, but the waitstaff were incredibly attentive with refills and friendly to boot. As for the food - the lemon pepper wings were smaller than most wings I've had, but deliciously crispy and flavorful. I tried a burger and some wings and both were good but I'd order the wings over the burger if I had to choose between the two. The wings were big and fat and delicious which I think is everything that a wing is supposed to be. The burger was ok but not great but worth ordering if a burger is what you're looking for. Overall this is sort of a laid back, easygoing bar/lunch spot that would be goof for watching sports while munching on familiar foods done well enough to keep you coming back. It's the type of food you don't admit to your cardiologist. By far the best burger I've had since moving to the area 3 months ago.
