Tonight I'm sad. I am updating a review to remove three stars! This is my second visit recently and I felt strongly enough about it to update this. Tenders is an old staple with a few locations around town. The bathrooms were filthy/smelly. The sweetened tea and unsweetened tea bars were open for anything to fall in. The grilled tenders, while fresh, taste more like Lemmon Pepper than anything else. The fries were stale. Wings were okay. The Apple Pie--they have ruined it! It is no longer the same. That is minus 1.5 stars for me, y'all! Fix that back! The prices have went sky high. For one, ladies and gentlemen...$20 plus!!! They are now small and tough whereas they use to be big and juicy. Well, I was a bit confused today when I arrived at Tenders. Don't worry, it was my fault. Not the fault of Tenders. Its just that when I ordered from the Tender app, I thought that I received a 25 year old sweet lady named Shelly. When I showed up at Tenders, I realized that Shelly did not look like her profile picture or like the frequent risque photos she sent after we first "matched". In fact, the lady behind the counter wasn't Shelly at all. You can imagine my sincere embarassment at this point in the story. But I thought oh well, might as well drown my sorrows in chicken fingers. I ordered the Big Daddy. The chicken was filling and not overly salty. The Tenders sauce should be understood as a better version of Jack's comeback sauce or a better version of Zaxby's Zax sauce. The cole slaw was fantastic. And for the price point, it's hard to beat the Big Daddy. Only like 8 bucks. Plus, I had anticipated having to pay for Shelly's meal before we got down and dirty at the Red Roof Inn. Score! I'll save the list of places that we have gone to in MN, SC, TX, GA, IL, etc. Tenders by far and away are the best we have ever had. Making a crispy chicken finger is one thing. I went to the Madison AL store after a long drive from Florida and my car and another was asked to wait 6 minutes while they fried a fresh batch. When I got it home, one of the tenders was about 1.5 inches long and the others were normal size. Well, I have something to compare to Slim Chicken's in Arkansas now. Chicken Tenders has some decent food, their chicken tenders are moist and tasty and the hot sauce on the side isn't too hot. Their slaw was okay and their fries were tasty. My friend and I were the first customers of the day (they open at 10:30 a.m.) so the place was empty. The interior is kind of bland with two televisions tuned into ESPN and college football helmets from the SEC sitting on shelves along the wall. I drive all the way from Decatur to get my wings and tenders from Tenders! They have the best wings and chicken tenders in the Huntsville metro area! I wish they'd open one here. I usually get the wings and tenders combo. That comes with 4 wings and 3 tenders, crinkle fries, texas toast, tenders original sauce and a choice of blue cheese or ranch and celery. The plates don't come with drinks, but that doesn't bother me, I prefer a cup of water. I normally order my wings crispy and have not had an issue. The one time I did, years ago, I contacted them via website and the owner called me and resolved the issue. The bathrooms are clean, the restaurants are clean, and the staff are efficient. They get a good lunch rush during the week. Try to hit it right around 11am or around 1pm to avoid the crowd. They have tvs in the dining area. I could do without those, but it's ok. The prices have steadily gone up..which I don't like. But the chicken tenders aren't frozen so I'll give them that. They do offer a couple of salads, I've not tried. Their sweet and unsweet tea is not bad. They keep the urns clean, so no sour tea there. They don't offer a kid menu, so you might want to share or get them a snack until you are more familiar with the menu. I believe they offer catering as well as take out and drive thru. read more
