So I did some research online for a good place to check it out and either repair or replace it. I stopped at one place, and the owner didn't even bother to look at it; he just said it would cost me @ $300. either to have it repaired or to replace it... I wasn't impressed. I took it to Sargent's Stereo, and was absolutely delighted with the level of service and expertise. The owner came right out and took a thorough look at it, asking me questions and troubleshooting the problem. Once he found the cause he explained in detail what was going on, and gave me estimates on sending it off for repair to the manufacturer (which I found would be cost prohibitive), or to replace it with a similar quality new stereo. We looked at and discussed pros and cons of the systems he had in the store, and I found him to be very honest and customer oriented, focusing on my needs. Very helpful and informative. We settled on one he recommended, (after he explained his reasons as to why he thought it the best system for my car compared to others he carried), at a very reasonable cost, which included installation while I waited. I found Sargent's altogether a great experience, very good at what they do and trustworthy. Very reasonable prices and really excellent customer service. Along with so many other Bend residents, I'm sad the Sargents are retiring soon after 35 years of great service, but he tells me he is leaving the business in good hands, to a long time employee who thinks just like he does, and who will provide the same level of top products and service for many years to come. I can't recommend Sargent's Stereo too highly... you won't go wrong getting your next car stereo there!

The store is typical, stocked with the usual Game Stop items and pretty organized, nothing special here. What stands out to me is one member of the team in particular who always went above and beyond to ensure that the customer was taken care of and would be coming back to the store. I think her name is Naomi, totally failed to write it down after my last stop in before I moved away from the area but she is fresh out of HS and very mature business-wise, really loves her job and it shows. But it wasn't without being harassed several times due to "late payment" when in fact the due date wasn't until the 15th. We had the due date changed from the 1st to the 15th prior to these calls. They'd call on the 3rd of the month nearly every month. Don't ignore them either or they'll call your references! Many times I told them to come and pick the set up and take it back because it wasn't worth being harassed. They didn't, they just wanted money. I never missed a month's payment, ever. I was so glad when I finally paid them off, it was pure relief. I've never been in jail before, but I imagine it was the equivalent of being released from jail. *deep breath* I could've bought the same set BRAND NEW, and OUTRIGHT for about $1000.00. Hind-sight is 20/20 though. If you can hold off, save your money, do whatever you gotta do and go to a store and buy whatever you're looking for outright. Super professional and incredibly helpful through the whole process. It's a process, a system. But, if you work the system, it works!! You park, get in line, get on the list, told when you are going to get help and help comes!! I got a new phone for myself with Colton's help, then a few weeks later, got phones for my daughter and father and again, with Colton's help. I was easy for me, my daughter's situation was moderate, my dad was complicated. Colton didn't skip a beat and we have three new phones in our home and three happy customers. If you are up to it and are willing to work the system, their system does work. If you are impatient and crabby, I get it, but it's going to take a lot longer to resolve. So, my advice, be patient, realize that we are all in this together, that the staff is just doing their job and doing it to best of their ability with the resources available.
