I spent all my money this month on gym memberships, alcohol, music festivals, and supplements. Times were tough before the 1st of the month's payday so I had to resort to a cheap haircut. Like a shameful one night stand, I was in and out in 15 minutes. Linh cut my hair and she did a great job in the 10 minutes I was there. Gave this place another chance and I'm glad to say that this place sucks. The rudest place on earth. I stood by the counter and greeted them hello. And I didn't get a response so I said about how long? They mumbled a response and I wasn't able to make a determination based off their response so I sat and waited. Then when the lady came up she cut my hair. Just very administratively and boy did she chop my hair. If you ever felt like your hair and body was being disrespected by a pair of scissors--this was it. I felt humiliated and quite sad after. The haircut looked less than average even. Very bad service, the Vietnamese woman answered about 7 phone calls during a 10 minute cut and was very impatient of listening to how I wanna cut my hair, did not even look at me, always looked at her phone. This review is for the Crew Cuts Salon on Lake City Way, if I could give zero I would! I went here because the reviews were good and the other salons in the area were booked. I asked for an inch off in a long layer cut and showed the woman exactly what I wanted done. She proceeded to do a dry cut, chopped off too much on one side and left the other side long, and the layers were chopped and uneven. My hair looks terrible and it will take a couple of months to fix this as my hair grows slowly. I normally don't do reviews on yelp but I'm absolutely livid with this hack job and will never go there again and will tell others to go somewhere else! Buyer beware! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I wish I could give negative stars!! Firstly, they keep raising prices, now $18 for a women's cut, plus $5 for shampoo. WTF? Their work is shoddy and terrible and leaves hair uneven and in a strange awkward shape. They don't listen to what you want and don't speak English so it doesn't matter what you say anyway. They will cut your hair how they want and be rude to you about it too. The only customers who actually have a positive impression are men who get simple haircuts, but it seems the hairdressers here can manage to even mess that up. She was continually rude before, during, and after the cut about my damaged hair. I explained that I was aware, I had made a lot of progress in the last year and it was something I've been working very hard at, and I hadn't gotten a cut in 18 months. But she just kept it up. She then proceded to give me a noticeably uneven cut. She never re-parted my hair before cutting it after she picked it up to show me how damaged it was. She also never sprayed down my hair once, cutting my hair completely dry. I asked for a little bit of layering in the ends, nothing elaborate, and she cut the ends with an electric buzzer instead of clippers. I get a pretty straight-forward haircut and I used to love this place for the price/speed/convenience. I even got my hair cut here for my wedding. The ladies, whom I'd known for years, asked me to bring my new wife by, and one day I finally did. They were friendly and excited that she's Vietnamese, but seemed disappointed to learn that while she understands Vietnamese, she doesn't speak any. So, after learning that my wife can understand Vietnamese, they proceeded to gossip among themselves...criticizing her appearance in Vietnamese while I got my hair cut. Idiots. It's $12 for a quick and easy haircut. What's to hate? Both of the ladies working when my coworker and I walked in have a quadrillion years of experience cutting hair. We walked in, got our haircut, paid our $12 and walked out 15 minutes later. My wife came in to have them trim a half inch and ended up with about 4 inches hacked off. The worst part was having the right side shorter than the left! When she went back a few days later to complain and possibly get a refund, the owner (same person cut her hair) told her the left was supposed to go behind the shoulder. Wtf! I've learned over the years not to get my wavy, Jewish hair cut at cheap salons, but I'll tell you why I like this place. As other reviewers have said, they are cheap, fast, and friendly here. I came in with my son looking for something very specific. He is pre-school age and has always hated getting his haircut, to the point that it now totally freaks him out and leads to tantrums, panic attacks, or just refusing to sit in the chair. I had taken him to the fancy kids' places and places with fun videos showing, but I think all that noise and hullabaloo actually made it worse. I was looking for a calm, peaceful shop with cheap haircuts and staff who would be gentle with my son. Crew Cuts has been doing great. We try to go in every week, get a few snips, and get out of there before he gets overwhelmed and upset. Lin and the other ladies seemed a bit confused and incredulous at my plan to bring him in repeatedly for incomplete haircuts, but I was able to communicate to them what I wanted. They call it Crew Cuts for a reason - this is a good place to go if you want a crew cut. They are good with the clippers and even came up with a technique of cutting with a comb and clippers together to be more efficient for him without putting clippers to scalp, which he hates. Last week they were able to get so much done that we really don't need to go back for a few weeks now. His hair doesn't look super great, but the bangs are out of his eyes! And he is getting used to the feeling of having his hair cut without freaking out, so I'm a happy customer. They have lollipops for the kids and a calm ambience. Lovely! read more

The best men's haircut in Seattle, and only $10! I've been going to Crew Cuts Salon for about four years. Even after I moved out of this neighborhood, I still drive a half hour to get my hair cut here, because nobody else comes close in quality or price. My hair is thick and difficult to cut. Many times I've paid twice this price and been very disappointed at other salons. The ladies here don't speak much English, so if you are looking for someone to chat your ear off, you will be disappointed. What you WILL get is a very professional haircut at an amazing price. This salon recently moved to a new location, with nice new furniture and equipment. Everything is clean and professional looking. They even have a giant flat-screen TV to entertain people waiting for their turn. I always add an extra $3 to get a shampoo after my haircut. This is a very relaxing experience, and the ladies take their time to give a scalp massage that will brighten your day. I can't speak for how they do with haircuts for women, but I know I never trust my hair to anyone else. read more

I took my boys here for a hair cut. My almost 2 year old did great with the lady who cut his hair. She was fast but did a great job. My 5 year old also got a cut and it turned out perfect. The women who cut the hair are really efficient and sweet. You can't beat the prices either. Forget those little kid cut places. Paying $35+ for a crew cut is stupid when you can take your child to a place that has way better service. They have books and a fountain for kids to stay entertained while they wait. I got my hair cut here for the first time a few weeks ago. I'm a guy, and I feel they did a really good job. My hair is usually wavy and poofy, but they thinned it out really really well! It's actually the best haircut I've ever received! I paid $15, which is more than I usually would, but it was worth it. The lady who cut my hair was named Ven, so ask for her as I can vouch for her skill. So why did I rate this place only 3 stars? 1) They combed the living crap out of my ears, making them a bit sore. 2) They don't speak English too well, so communicating what kind of haircut you want is relatively difficult. 3) My girlfriend paid $23 for a MINOR trim of her long hair, and the lady basically pressured her into getting it shampooed and then got her to fork over $5 extra for having her hair shampooed, never telling her beforehand that it would cost extra. She also brushed the crap out of her ears and made them sore and red. Basically, this place is great if you're a guy with thick hair that wants it thinned out. OMG! I usually go here for a quick fix waxing. I went in yesterday and was totally flabergasted. When I was taken in the back room to lay down the sheet had blood, wax and tons of hair all over it. She didn't even make an attempt to dust it off or anything. I was kind of between a rock and a hard place because it was getting late and I had a big interview the next day and didn't want to show up with unruly hair. I always walk in, and never have to wait for longer than it takes for them to finish the current customer. While I have waited, I don't think I have ever finished the article in the magazine I usually take with me. There is always sports on the television, which suits me fine. I don't have a preference who among the staff cuts my hair - Van seems to hire and train them well. (Staff turnover is very low.) Van and her staff are originally from Vietnam (I think). They understand English perfectly well. They speak it with an accent. And it is obvious they are not as comfortable speaking it, so you will hear the usual workplace banter happening in Vietnamese. Doesn't bother me. Both sites are spacious, well lit, with Dish TV, plenty of seating, and parking, and the usual mix of magazines. I went to this place foremost the worst experience in my entire hair dress life! They yanked and pulled my hair to a point where I wanted to cry, because it was so painful. I asked the lady to be gentle, she told me the reason she did that was because I have a lot of hair. It was horrified and horrible!! They were having conversation in their (Vietnamese)language and it seem like they were talking about me. I had a perm there and they were both working on my hair, each one yanked on each side...it was an painful experience that made me almost cry out loud! They also asked personal question like how many children do I have and if I was working! I've asked them to perm a large wave curl, they said they know..., but ended up complaint how much my hair were and did what they wanted. They did small speak curl on my hair without my consent, and yet complaint and yelled at me for having too much hair! After this terrible experienced with this place, I will never ever going to even come close to this place! So shameful to have such rude people to serve customers this way, and they are still open! First of all this is absolutely the most affordable haircut in Seattle. My styled haircut only cost $12. It has plenty of space for you to walk in and have a seat and wait for your turn. The light bright atmosphere is nice and they always have some music playing which makes it even better. The girls that work here are very friendly and seem to enjoy their job! They always remember how to cut my hair and do all the little things that I normally would have to ask for. I think there may be two Crew Cuts super close to each other, but this one is the one next to Bartells on Lake City Way. I'd have to say they have the best hair stylist for cutting layered haircut for $14!!! I've gone to so many places..spent so much money everywhere and I am so glad to have found my current hairstylist. Her name is Phuong (pronounced similar to foong) and she is the pretty lady with long hair and usually curls it. I started cutting my hair here a year ago and have kept coming back. She really knows what you want for a layered haircut as she also has a hs daughter and is really particular with her hair. Also, I've been to places where they pull your hair like crazy while cutting it and this is the one thing that Phuong does not do. I am so grateful for that! I'd highly recommend Phuong. read more

I went to Crew Cuts Hair Salon for the first time to get the end of my hair trimmed, and had a horrible experience. I would not go there unless you want your hair messed up and not the way you asked! I had hair that was down to my buttocks. But, thanks to Crew Cuts messing up my hair, I no longer have hair that was as long as I wanted. I asked for the lady to take off 2 to 3 inches. Next thing I know, and before I could say anything, she had taken off 4 to 5 inches. She also cut my hair to where the ends were line up straight, which removed even more hair, and I wanted to have my hair ends to line up in the more natural appearing U-shape. The hair dresser did not listen to what I asked for at all and she butchered my hair. I left very upset and my hair much shorter then I had asked for, and I will never go there again. I went to the lake city location after my dad had recommended it after going for 3 years. I went with a reference photo for textured blunt straight across bangs and then a style trim since I hadn't had my hair cut since I shaved it all. I left with a uneven choppy short mullet and terrible 90's poster bangs that are so uneven that I can't cover my forehead like they were suppose to and also can't pin them back. $20 wasted.
