It was my first time going here while in town for a couple days, my mom and I stopped in for lunch around 1120, it was busy but we got our food quickly. I got the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese and baked beans, mom had the pulled pork bbq salad, both were great. Stoped by this restaurant returning from a recent trip. It is convenient to the interstate (I-65) and we were not disappointed. The interior was small with extra seating on a rear porch overlooking a small creek. The food was fantastic and service good and friendly. I had ribs, greens and corn casserole. Despite the ratings, this is one of the best bbq places I could find in the Shelby country area! I've had a lot of bbq from Texas, that's why the rating is somewhat harsh. My only complaint, the brisket was a bit dry and the 2 bbq sauce's offered wasn't as tasty as others I've experienced in the past. Other than that, a solid choice for some local bbq. The pulled chicken and the ribs were both super tasty and juicy! While I hate to lower a score- I want my reviews to be up to date. We came in Tuesday night to grab dinner. We have been many times and the staff continues to be very friendly and efficient so this is about the food - the chicken. I ordered the bbq chicken salad and chicken sandwich for my husband. My chicken was shredded and so dry and dark that I actually thought it was pork. I asked the manager and he said it was chicken. My husband's chicken was completely different and not as dry but tasteless. The sides were still good - the cheese grit cake and beans and fries were good. I hope this was just a bad chicken day. This is a great place. We absolutely love Creekside, and hope it never, ever changes. Love the ribs. Love the smoked chicken. The sides are an excellent compliment. Their smoked wings are $1 each on Saturdays and a must-have for game day. And their garden salad with chicken or pulled pork may well be the best salad in Alabama. Took Mom here for lunch. As usual I asked her what she wanted to eat and she had no idea until I recommended BBQ. Creekside was close to Dr's office and had a good rating on Yelp. The place was very busy but we were able to find a table on the patio. As we walked in we were greeted with a Welcome. The order taker was very patient as I had to read and explain the menu board for her. After ordering we saw a table inside and headed that way. As I prepared to get the drinks Mom sees the patio and tells me to go see if a table is open. There was--thank goodness. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes. It was nice and hot. Mom had the pulled pork platter with beans and coleslaw. The pork had a good flavor. The beans were nothing special. Coleslaw was good although too creamy for mom. I had a brisket platter with corn casserole and fried green tomatoes. The brisket was yummy--mouth watering. Liked the sauce for dipping the tomatoes. I thought the corn casserole was bland. I pass this restaurant daily on my way to and from work. After seeing how the restaurant was transformed from a Waffle House to a BBQ restaurant I decided to stop and order a side to go along with my dinner. The remodeled building looks wonderful and is completely transformed. The staff were nice and answered my questions about their menu. I ordered the corn casserole to try something different. The staff were very prompt in getting my food and the dish was piping hot. It was still warm enough when I got home and took a shower that I didn't need to warm it up. Unfortunately I did not like the dish, but that was nothing wrong on the restaurant's behalf. I didn't care for the corn and queso mixture. I do plan to go back and try some of their other menu items in the near future. read more

I believe this might have been a former Waffle House so I guess no matter how well you remodel it and make the interior nice, some Jack a leg is gonna call it an old Waffle House. But it's no Waffle House---this is a BBQ joint with your typical meats of sausage, chicken,pulled pork, brisket, ribs, etc plus it has served pork belly so they are trying to be modern while cooking and serving classics. You recognize modern when you see their appetizers---for example Gouda cover grits--oh my. Or they have a pork belly egg sandwich---I think that's what my tennis player buddy ordered---it was difficult to understand what he was saying as his mouth was full and noises of joy was coming from it in between bites. You place your order at the counter and they bring you your order to the table. It's pretty basis stuff here except exceptional taste. The food here is excellent. My favorites are the sides and often make a meal of just sides. The smoked grits are so good, as are the feta potato salad and the greens. If I get meat, it's usually the brisket which is always cooked to perfection and they give you enough you will need a to go box. The service is order at the counter and they are quick with minimal wait time. I have to eat gluten free and they are knowledgeable about what that entails. The prices are decent. Sorry Saws and Martins, my crown for best BBQ in the Birmingham area is now going to the new place in Pelham, Creekside BBQ, at the entrance of Oak Mountain. It's not a huge place, located in an old Waffle House, but they've added a back patio that is dog friendly. My first few times here I had the pork sandwich, but today I tried the brisket. The brisket is phenomenal! You can't go wrong with the fries as a side here, but they have several other choices including feta potato salad, corn casserole, and collard greens. I haven't tried the chicken yet, but that's on my list for next time. You can get either a sandwich or a plate for any type of meat. They also have BBQ stuffed baked potatoes, a smash burger, a BLT, salads, and grilled cheese. There's also a good selection of beers on tap.
