My boyfriend and I took the 90 Min Pottery Wheel Throw Class as a date activity and we both had lots of fun! The instructor was super knowledgeable and patiently took us through all the steps for making our bowls. When we messed up, she was kind enough to help us 1:1 to get us back on track! Firing and glazing our pieces were an additional cost, but I felt like it was still a good deal compared to other studios I've been to since they let you paint your pieces after they've been fired about 2 weeks later. My daughter visited this establishment for the already made pottery painting. She chose a medium sized piece that included two hugging rabbits and a heart. This was going to be a gift for her grandmother and we really wanted it to be detailed and perfect. The price of the piece was $75, and if you're wondering, we definitely felt it was overpriced but went ahead with it anyways. She worked for 3 hours and didn't finish but was completely under the impression she would be able to return and finish the piece until completion. I'm going to make a long story short and let you know this isn't an establishment that values taking your time or working at a slower pace. It seems they only intend on making money and getting you out the door quickly. My daughter returned 3 or 4 times but was met with rudeness and insistence that she be finished, given a strict guideline of needing to be done due to studio time. Mind you each time she went nobody else was in the painting area. It came down to neither I nor my daughter wanting to return due to the rude behavior. We of course were not happy to be stuck with a 75$ piece of unfinished pottery! On a whim I called Stuffingtons pottery in Everett and explained the situation. The employee I spoke with was in shock and happily invited us to come in and finish the piece with any amount of time needed. I researched every other pottery place from here to Bellevue and each had no time limit! How can you even put a time limit on creativity!? What an awesome experience! I came here with a group last night and painted my first masterpiece. Rinkle was our instructor and she was fabulous. She is very patient, kind,supportive and a pretty good artist in my opinion. The school is very accessible and well arranged. You can make pottery, paint pottery or paint on canvas, which is what I did. You are encouraged throughout the session and complimented at the end. The nice thing about painting is that you're never wrong. Your finished product is exactly how it is supposed to be through your eyes and interpretation. I recommend checking this place out for a beginner class, children's party or just a unique date night. read more

**Review:** We booked a session of pottery for 12 of my friends, plus myself. There was a Groupon on the Groupon website that didn't specify any restrictions on when or how to use it. A reservation was made to ensure they could accommodate a large group since some of us were traveling for this event. Once there, we got checked in by Yosh without any further information given. We started our session with Ryan, who was awesome in showing us and helping us learn the techniques. During the session, while we were elbows deep in the clay, Grish informed us that the Groupon wouldn't apply. We were almost done with our project, making it impossible to reschedule or decline and do something else. We had to pay them, and now Groupon is not wanting to issue a monetary refund for the Groupon that no one in our circle will use, given their subpar customer service. They need to work on resolving these kinds of issues better--they should have honored our Groupons. We were not asking for a free session; we had already paid for the same service as we would have for a non-private event. They preferred to inconvenience us rather than themselves. All they had to do was honor what we had already paid for. Now, 14 people paid double, and some even more, which is just not acceptable. Now we have to deal with Groupon and to issue refunds if allowed. What was suppose to be a fun event turned into a headache. read more

My partner bought a groupon for the both of us to try their pottery class. The class itself was fine and the instructor wasn't bad, but they weren't very upfront with some of their extra fees. When we finished making our first pieces, the instructor was really chill and casual about asking if we wanted to make another piece since we had a decent amount of time left. Without thinking, everyone in the class said yes, not thinking that we'd have to pay extra for this. When it was all said and done and we had to pay for the bisque/glazing portions, he said he also had to charge for the extra clay, which we were surprised about. Although it was only $5 extra for each piece of clay you used after the initial one, we felt like that should have been mentioned to us in the beginning. That experience made it feel a little shady. Also, while I understand bisque-ing and glazing is a separate process entirely, I'm not sure anyone would want just a piece of "greenware" to take home since it's virtually useless. I'd recommend bumping the groupon class price to include bisquing/glazing for a little more instead of tacking it on as fees. Update 10/12/2022: Emailed the owner as instructed via their reply and got my refund for the extra pieces of clay. Bumping one extra star for the follow through. Thanks! read more

I booked a class for two using a discount promo code offered on Creative Hands Studio's website. When we arrived, the receptionist stated that we booked for four, and that "oh, because you booked on the website and not the Groupon" that duplicate reservation occurred. I asked for a refund because my order confirmation showed only two tickets with a total of $156.00 or so (I still had the screen open on my phone). If I had booked for four, it would show four tickets on my confirmation screen with that SAME total - clearly system error, right? The front desk staff called the instructor and said they could offer us a $5 ball of clay in return. I was confused because how could $5 even make up the cost of two tickets for a pottery class? The instructor said she'll speak to the owner when he gets there. Then the beginning of the class began, and this instructor explained that the there is an additional cost for glazing, etc., etc., and so I was like, OH, maybe they meant the comp would include the glazing, because that could be closer to the amount Creative Hands should have refunded us. We took the $5 ball of clay and at that point the owner arrived. He rushed us and was somewhat aggressive in his teaching style (e.g. yelling into a general space/area ordering people to stop doing something, making it confusing who he was speaking to, and since said person wasn't listening because they didn't know he was speaking to them, owner start getting irritated). Anyway, we rushed our $5 balls of clay due to this atmosphere and were just like, OK, cleaned up our stations and went to checkout. Owner rings us up for an additional $80 for the glazing! We explained again what occurred with the system showing two for the price of four, and he explained that they already gave us those $5 free clay balls as a comp. I reported to the Attorney General and Creative Hands responded with conflicting information, stating that they had basically given us the time of what would be considered a whole separate class. As I described re: our experience above, it wasn't a whole separate class experience. What is sad is that when we first arrived, we were so excited and were thinking of bringing our kid and family for their summer camp activities. What could have been lots of money spent by us over the years is gone due to Creative Hands' shady business practices. Creative Hands states that we could have double checked our receipts. I've attached my order confirmation in Google (which allows attachments) to show how Creative Hands refuses to take accountability for its online ordering system error (which is not the consumer's responsibility). My wife got me a Wheel throwing class as a gift. I hadn't done anything like this since high school. I had told the owner that I had done it before so he told me not to wait and to just go ahead and start. After my first piece he was kind enough to offer me a spot to help teach the class going forward. I look forward to taking him up on that offer. The overall experience was fine. It was a little irritating that there were all these added fees. Sales tax is fair but why not just add the extra $15 glaze and fire fee to the Groupon price? I've been to many of these one time throw classes in LA and it's a little more expensive but the experience is way better because they end up glazing and firing everything for you all included in the price. Sure, I don't get the freedom to glaze myself, but it's not like anyone sat and guided me how it works and gave me suggestions. They just gave me the tools and was like "ok here you go". Here you have to go back for glazing then come back again to pick it up - I just didn't end up picking up my piece because it was so annoying. Cost of gas is expensive these days! I want to take my mom to a pottery class but probably won't choose this place again mostly because how abrasive the male instructor was. I have tough skin and I can handle his style, but my mom who doesn't speak English very well would not be comfortable with the rudeness that comes off from him. Im going to find a place where the environment is much more inviting and better customer service - even if it's more expensive. Based on some of the responses to reviews, I'm sure I'll get some passive aggressive response, but this was my experience and they can take the feedback or leave it. One of the perks is the opportunity to go to some incredible events....sometimes, you get to do cool things that you never knew were missing from your life. That's how I feel about my experience at Creative Hands last night. Most of us had never tried throwing pottery before - myself included..... but it was also something that I found romantically appealing. Maybe being a child of the 80's and growing up to the soundtrack of a certain Patrick Swayze movie had something to do with it. I digress..... The event was beautiful. A short demonstration by Grishm (the owner of Creative Hands). His skills were amazing but what I really enjoyed was his personal account that led him and his wife to open Creative Hands. We each had the opportunity to try out the wheel. It was a mind-numbingly-beautiful experience.... I expected it to be difficult.... I expected to make a total mess of my piece (which ended up being a happy-surprise-of-a-masterpiece!) but I wasn't expecting it to be such a workout!! I found myself putting my entire upper body strength into a tiny piece of clay and bracing my elbows against my knees as the wheel turned. I've always loved pottery pieces at farmers markets etc.... but now I have a new found appreciation for them. The new challenge for me is going to be to figure out how to get back to Creative hands for their open nights at the wheel because this is definitely something I want more of in my life. read more

I attended Creative Hands Art School for a ceramic painting session and I had so much fun! I attended with my daughter and two other friends and their children (six in total) across three generations. Every one of us found projects that were fun, creative, and appropriate for our ability level. The staff was friendly and helpful. They were available to offer suggestions and advice but gave also us space to explore our creativity and socialize. I was a little nervous before I went. I do not consider myself artistic and I was worried my project would not turn out well. It turns out I did not need to be worried at all! All ages, regardless of perceived artistic ability, have access to projects that enable them to express themselves and create a beautiful and fun work of art! read more

We tried Creative Hands Art School through groupon. We purchased a pottery class for two. Very unprofessional with hidden fees. You leave with an unusable raw piece of clay unless you are willing to pay , in our case $30.00 extra on top of the price you already paid, (because we bought a groupon for TWO pieces) to have your tiny bowls fired and glazed. And you have to pay extra sales tax on top of the the groupon price, which we've never experienced with any groupon service. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere. The man who checks you in got into an argument with two other customers when we were there and the customers ended up walking out without doing their pottery session, obviously very upset. The man then started talking about those customers to others after they left, very unprofessional. It was very uncomfortable and the additional fees to finish or even be able to use your piece were very disappointing. Be prepared to be nickeled and dimed at Creative Hands Art. It does not say in the Groupon website that you will be charged extra for finishing your piece, meaning at a minimum having it fired. What are you supposed to do with an unfired piece of clay? read more

I loved the Pottery class and ended up making a decent looking piece :-p But ya instructor was aware of what he was doing, very knowledgeable. Explained and taught us every step of process very well, helping us through out the class. My piece was found broken when I went back to pick it up after firing, and they were generous enough to offer me to join a free class and let me make another piece. That was good gesture! Overall I loved the experience, it was stress fully[common its not easy when you make it vs when you see it] soothing and relaxing at the same time. Had the birthday party booked for my child there in Jan. I paid over $400 for the slime making , but it disappointed me that they did not even provide paper towers for kids to dry their hands after the slime making. There are two small sinks covered with old paints and two cloth towers to dry hands. The cloths towel are wet and have been used whole day for many people, it is not sanitary at all and can build up germs. But when commenting about it, the owner said they wash it every day and it is normal for them. They did not concerns about the health, especially with COVID and flu season around. . Even washing it every day, but it has been used by so many people during the day, it is not clean any more, imagining your kids dry their hands with those towels, and can get sick. I hope they pay more attention to this matter, especially you provide the service for the children. Hopefully, providence paper towel for customers. As a parent, my children's health is matter. It's about an extra $5 to fire and $10 to fire and paint. There's also tax to the Groupon that you pay there which I haven't experienced before with Groupons but all of this is written in the deal. You just need to read everything. The low score was due to the customer service, which can be improved...When we picked up the pieces, no one helped and we had to look for our own. We were touching everyone else's pieces while we look so that was unnerving. The place might benefit from hiring another employee to help out.
