What a gem! It's off the beaten path for such a treasure. I saw it and thought it was cute & interesting as I drove by, but simply kept going on my way. Ironically a couple nights later I had dinner with my cousins & they heard good things about them & recommended I give them a try. I'm sure glad I did! What a pleasant surprise & treat! Very cute breakfast/brunch spot with cottage village aesthetics. I came on a Friday morning with 5 others. We entered through the front arch, walked down the cobblestone, up the stairs, and waited in front of the sliding doors. Someone greeted us at the doors and brought us inside to the long center table. We ordered the Rum Caramel French Toast, Blueberry Lemon Souffle Pancakes, and Original Souffle Pancakes to share as a group. Between my bf and I, we ordered the Burgundy Beef Stew Omelet Rice to share. The french toast was fluffy, soft, and yummy. The pancakes were also very fluffy and bouncy. Flavor wise, they tasted more eggy than pancake. I thought they would taste like regular pancakes but "fluffier" or airy. However, this was my first time trying souffle pancakes, so I didn't really know what to expect. The beef stew omelet rice was good. Flavor and portion size were good. The beef was tender and wasn't super chewy. Overall, we had a good experience here. It was definitely expensive with each pancake being about $30. I think it was good to try once. read more

How do I start this.... I am not one to write reviews, especially a bad one. But I felt that it was necessary to let people know and save others from being scammed. I wouldn't do this if the owner was at least transparent about things or tried to fix things, but this is the 3rd time it happened over the spand of 7 years and I'm someone who cant stand when morals and principles are compromised. This is my 4th time going, haven't gone in 6-7 years since the last incident, but I wanted to see if maybe things have changed and I was craving their food as it "once" was really good. But upon my visit today and giving this place another redemption try... not only did the scamming continue but the food and quality got worse. Their maple bacon used to be thick and amazing maple flavor but now it's just thin sad regular bacon, everything went up significantly in price (even with inflation), the souffle pancakes got worse and more eggy, and NOW when they brought the bill, they said they are implementing a new system of charging manual gratuity (without telling you the percentage) and they are still doing their scamming charges on their hand written receipts. Let me explain (this was the receipt breakdown: Food total = $80 ...... = $16 ...... = $6 Total: 100 - which is still added up wrong + $7 parking validation sticker charge (to park in building, the reg cost is $10 for 2 hrs) TOTAL: $107 *In the past they would sneak in $3-5 miscellaneous charges here and there and thought people wouldn't notice because rarely do people sit there and calculate every little thing. So if the bill was off by $3-$5 no one would notice. I caught this discrepancy on my 2nd visit there many years ago which I let slide as a mistake when I confronted the server... then on my 3rd visit it happened again and I confronted the owner and I never went back.... until today (7 years later)! I made a rookie mistake of not taking a picture of my bill... but they don't label on their handwritten receipt what they are charging you so I went up to the owner to clarify... "Hi, I wanted to review the receipt before checking out... so the $80 is the total for food (which is correct based on the prices shown on the menu), and the $16 is the manual gratuity?" He said "Yes". So I explained that is a 20% manual gratuity and you don't disclose anywhere nor tell people until checkout and even then its not transparent about the % of gratuity. Secondly, I ask "the $6 is what? HI state tax"? and I wait to see what he says because I know that tax is 4.5% (which of $80 should be $3.60) and why is it added AFTER the manual gratuity... this is where he starts getting a little nervous and start mumbling softly "oh sorry $4 tax." and he trys to deflect. So I continue... and say "The $7 is for parking validation?" and he says "yes". This is the only restaurant I've been to on Oahu where they make you "pay" for getting the parking validation stickers from the restaurant you are dinning at. I rather have just paid $3 more to pay the parking attendant directly. I don't know if they have some sort of system set up between the parking attendant and the restaurant owner but its just screams sketchy.... But moving on... he added the total bill wrong with that math ($80+$16+6 = $102+$7parking = $109) but the total written was $107 so that is why I let the tax error go since it made up in the $2 error of his total. I know this is a long story... But the point being of all this is that the owner is a scamming non transparent person who does things sneaky. I noticed each one of my visits, the owner is the one who handles the bill/receipts with the servers passing it out. And with him doing countless of receipts, you figure he'd be better at adding things up...literally. He continues to make these mathematical errors, in adding up the total, charging the wrong percentage for tax and adding the tax after the total with gratituity and not before. And he probably gets away with getting $3-$5 extra from every customer that dines there. He just does sketchy & scammy things and I just cant stand the morals and principle of the matter and felt the need to write this review to let as many people know! Side note: I found out that the owner got reported and fined for going outside of regulations/permit for building & adding an extension to his restaurant without approval and had to take it all down. This was several years ago when I first dined at cream pot and it was a lot more spacious but today I noticed how smaller the restaurant got. Not worth going, but if you do please be mindful when dinning here. Double check & take the time to add everything up on your bill. If things dont add up, question every cost, call the owner out on his BS. As for me, after this review, I will not be making it back to this place ever again. After 3 chances I think I'd be dumb to still go and support this business. I do not reccomend this place to anyone. Hope this helps others! read more

This place seems to be a Thai-owned brunchery - both the exterior and the interior of the cafe is super cute and well-decorated, kind of like a mini secret garden in the area. Not sure where the 'rice cakes' that were mentioned on the menu were, but it was probably referring to the rice? This was okay - the ahi, while generous in its slices, could have been more fresh. It was a little stringy and hard to cut. I wished there were more of the orange miso shoyu sauce, as that was tasty, and it did complement the dish well. The rice was improperly cooked, as it was mushy and didn't add much to the overall plate. I tried their freshly-squeezed Orange Strawberry Juice, which was really yummy; however, with the high price point, you would think you could get a large glass or a carafe with it! Staff were pretty friendly and welcoming, and the place seems like a good get-together for small groups. With the higher gouge-like prices, in addition to the automatic gratuity that is included in the check, not sure if this place is a repeat return. I'm glad I was able to check this place out, though!
