We went back twice during our last brief visit to Canmore so that should tell you something. Unlike some other reviewers our service was exceptional and the food was very good. It was also reasonably priced for this quality of a restaurant (and compared to the Trough where we ate another night). A couple of years ago I had a duck dish at Crazyweed, which remains to date the best thing that I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, there was no duck on offer this time around but my roast chicken was terrific and the braised ribs my wife ordered were also very good. A solid wine list with several good selections that won't break the bank - I dream of having a restaurant of this quality up here in the north. p.s. we went back for lunch and the Thai chicken salad was fantastic. read more

I really enjoyed the decor, the seating, the lighting, and the vibe of this place. It really is a unique experience. I came here for lunch and was thrilled they had fish and chips on the menu. Their fish was delicious, as were their fries, however I ordered only 1 piece fish and it was SUPER tiny. The fries portion was also pretty wimpy. The teeny amount of food I received for lunch was fine, but the prices just didn't match the portion. There are definitely more places to eat out in Canmore that have better value. read more

I went with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday and I was very happy that we chose this spot! For starters we had the Vietnamese meatballs and Thai chicken skewers. Both were fabulous! The vietnamese meatballs had a delicious sauce to dip in and came with lettuce leaves to wrap the meatballs in. Very flavorful and maybe a bit spicy. I thought the portion was generous. The Thai chicken skewers came with a bed of veggies and had a great cilantro sauce that I dipped the chicken and veggies in. For mains the boyfriend had the lamb burger and I had the seafood curry. The lamb burger was very unique, an open faced toast with a giant (!) chunk of lamb patty on top. It had eggplant on top and was very tender and tasty. My seafood curry had a good variety of seafood, I especially liked the 3 giant shrimp in there. The curry was delicious. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere, modern and bright. I will definitely come here again! read more

So we planned to go to IronGoat in Canmore on our way back from Banff but heard from several people that Crazy Weed was "The PLACE" we had to go to. We were not disappointed! This place boasts the following: Great view of the Canadian Rockies from our table. The tables were all eclectic with unique seating throughout. Drink menu was fairly robust and the grapefruit margarita I had was so very good! The calamari was breaded to perfection and the sauce was very unique and tasty. I guess that's why the waitress said it was world famous calamari! Brick oven pizza-one of the best pizzas I have had in Canada! I ordered the prosciutto, mushroom, cheese one..... Will def order again! My fiancé ordered the braised short rib pappardelle, which was mouth watering good. It tasted like the best bollanaise ever, over home made pappardelle noodles! We have already determined that this is a must visit on the way to and or from Banff! read more

Crazyweed Kitchen - What a cool spot! - Asian Fusion Near Me - Canmore, Alberta

Food was great. Kitchen is a bit on the slow side. It was good as a tourist stop. But if I were to pass by again , I'll try somewhere else.

My wife and I took a long awaited weekend vacay in Canmore and we had every intention of going out for a good dinner at adult-o'clock. I found this place through good ole yelp reviews so we made a reservation for 8pm and got a fantastic food experience. The building is quite nice and atmosphere was buzzing with adult conversations. We settled at our table and were given the wine menu. Wow. Their inventory was extensive. We were a bit overwhelmed but our waitress was a huge help. She convinced us to try a bottle of red that was being featured that night. It was a great start to our evening. We ordered The Vietnamese Pork Meatballs to start and my tastebuds were dancing. The choice of spices and moistness of the meat was delectable. My wife Had the gnocchi and I had the sweet sticky five spice ribs. Holy sweet fancy Moses. The flavour combination was amazing. Asian fusion meets canadian bbq. The portion was just enough to fill my stomach. The crispy potatos and pickled veggies was a perfect combination of flavours. If you are heading to Canmore for an adult trip away from your children. Make a reservation here. It will not disappoint. I plan on heading back there again. read more

We tried to get into the restaurant around 2:30pm for lunch but they were fully booked so we made reservations for the next day. They were quite friendly and apologetic for not being able to take us in. The next day we arrived and were seated quite quickly with the reservations. They seated us near the windows. There was a really big draft. It felt like they had the air conditioning on quite high, enough that we had to put on our jackets and asked if we could move. They sat us a few tables away and it was much better (but still cold). I had the chili (spice) curry with pork. The curry was good, spice was just right. The rice was cooked perfectly and the naan bread was the best I've ever had. The dining atmosphere is what brought it down to 3-stars. I don't like to pay to eat my lunch in a cold room. The food took awhile (over 30min) to come out too. Not sure about branding either. The weird coloured font on the windows and then an aluminum helvetica sign out front.. odd combination. Food is amazing though! read more

It's no coincidence that some of the best food and service comes out of tourist locations. That said, it doesn't surprise me that Crazyweed Kitchen is as amazing as it is. After a long hike I stopped in here with a friend and Crazyweed is everything you'd want in a restaurant. Fresh ingredients, delicious food, excellent selection, innovative dishes, an expert staff and a welcoming location make Crazyweed a place that you're bound to enjoy during your next visit to the Rockies. If you want healthy, tasty and delicious food, trust me, you'll want to try Crazyweed Kitchen ASAP. read more

The atmosphere was great. The server was fantastic. The view in undeniable. The prices were a little high and the menu may not appeal to everyone. The desserts were amazing and we polished off 3. Definitely a place to enjoy a great dinner with family and friends. read more

Headed for Banff on a snowy night, we decided to give crazyweed a whirl for dinner. Jump off the TransCanada for an evening meal. Packed on Friday night. That's OK. The gracious staff kept an eye out for a spot at the bar for the two of us. Let me reiterate: A Gracious, friendly staff. Opening: El Burro - a refreshing gin elixir, including lime juice, shaved ginger, and ground black pepper. I could have picked any of the drinks from the cocktail list. All were creative and unique. Warm up: Two appetizers - The tartare and the ceviche. Both were served quickly. A raw egg yolk topped the tartare, gilding the already remarkable lilly. Served with a small bowel of smartly crunchy potato crisps, perfect balance to the tatare richness. The ahi tuna ceviche was perfect! Main production: Sweet, sticky five spice ribs. Imagine a mashup of the sweet, sesame seed coating of Peking duck and BBQ ribs. This, topping a bed of asian-style pickled vegetables. Unbelievable flavors, heavenly for the taste buds. Whatever your taste, you'll find it at crazyweed. Dinner is served with a background of open kitchen, friendly service, and eclectic music. Entertainment for all the senses. If you are anything like me, you'll crave another meal at crazyweed very soon. read more

Cool place. Was the first restaurant we tried in Canmore and we loved it. I had a fruity Thai chicken salad and some French wine. It has a cool, trendy vibe and I'd go there again. read more

The name is very deceiving! I didn't expect this restaurant to be so nice inside! The menu options all looked amazing. Prices range from $19-$25 for a main. The appetizers are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the Thai Chicken Salad and it was worth the price! It was beautiful, plentiful and most importantly... delicious! My boyfriend ordered the brisket burger and was very satisfied as well. We had a creme brûlée for dessert (on the house because it was my boyfriend's birthday). Quite possibly the best creme brûlée we've ever had! On top of the amazing food... the waitress was lovely! She was attentive and friendly, never letting our water cups go empty. My boyfriend ordered the juice of the day, another menu option that did not disappoint! We didn't have anything to drink because we were going for a hike after but their wine and cocktail menus are extremely extensive! Fantastic experience! read more

Hands down the craziest weed in Canmore! No, not really (I asked) but this place is definitely no joke. We showed up for lunch on Sunday and found a bright, open room with a few couples hanging out and a nice patio that was calling our names. The winelist is huge compared to the single-sided food menu and it took us longer to choose drinks than it did food but I'm not complaining...both our selections were top notch. We talked to our waiter a bit and he mentioned that this place is Chef-owned, everything is scratch-made and the specials change daily (very important in my opinion). I decided to go with the special soup and special flatbread and just trust the chef and I was not dissappointed. The soup was a spinach/roasted garlic made that morning and the Flatbread had artichokes, arugala, caramelized onions, green olives and goat cheese. You could tell the naan was made fresh that day and it made all the difference in the world compared to my own attempts with store-bought. You can really tell when a chef sweats the small stuff and it always makes a lasting impression with me. Some other people have had a bad experience with the service but I think it's just because they get so busy so often and they can't accommodate everyone perfectly....but who knows...all I know is that I'll be back! read more

Absolutely amazing food here and the service is top notch. If you are in town don't even think about going anywhere else. We came for a late dinner (9pm) our table wasn't ready so we had a drink at the bar. The bartender was great! Looked after us really well! By the time we sat down we ordered our food. The device was quick and the servers were very nice. The food was amazing. This was probably the best meal I've ever had! I had the lamb and my gf had the duck. Wow! Each bite was better than the last. I will be making the trip to Canmore just for the food here again. read more

Crazydough. That's what this place should be called because it's what you'll pay for a small to medium sized meal. I was just here with a party of six for lunch and we also had to pay 18% gratuity. Seriously?! It's noon hour, people. And I was just hiking and ate my salad wearing a toque. Your restaurant isn't THAT special, but whatever. I will say that the Thai Chicken Salad is pretty amazing and had a combination of flavors that I'd not tasted before. The citrus, yam chips and flavor of the chicken poached in coconut milk really was a treat. There is a lot of onion though (which wasn't listed in the ingredients) and my mouth was feeling it for a few hours afterward. I'd take out the onion if I ordered it again. Five out of six at the table felt skimped by their meal size. You could count on one hand how much seafood was in the Seafood Curry dish, and two people ordered it with the same outcome. A little sad. Would I return? Well... yes, if I really felt like splurging. read more

A very cool spot in Canmore that somehow is able to feel both modern and "homey" at the same time. We had the pork meatballs, the ceviche, and the steak for dinner and the date chocolate cake for dessert. The steak was cooked perfectly and one of the better steaks we've had actually - the sides paired really well with it. The meatballs were flavorful. The ceviche unfortunately was totally lack luster and difficult to finish. It wasn't that it was cooked partially on mezcal, but there was just no flavor and very little tuna actually. The dessert on the other hand was one of the best of our entire 5 week road trip. So definitely come here and try all the food, just don't get the ceviche. read more

What an amazing dining experience! Did we have to wait to be served? A little. Was there a time gap in between courses? Sure....a little. The key to the dining experience was the food. It was cooked perfectly. Our entire group really enjoyed this meal. read more

2nd visit no were near as good as the first. Food was greasy, service was uninspired and drinks are priced out of line with the menu. My wife and I found this place last year and fell in love with it. Food was exciting and original. Our return visit this year did not live up to expectations. Lunch meal pricing was acceptable ~15-20$, but a drink runs you about the same or more, I had a 9oz CabSauv for $30!!!? Our food was very greasy/oily. I ordered the Albacore tuna sandwich with baby potato skins. The tuna itself was great, but the tuna was served on a soggy oily ciabatta bun and the baby potato skins were like little oil filled potato cups. When I was finished my meal there was a very thick visible layer of oil coating the plate. My wife ended up sending her falafel back, again way too greasy. She replaced that with the Thai chicken salad which was saturated with dressing (order dressing on the side) Next year's Canmore trip will require a new lunch spot. read more

Not sure why I was surprised but my recent lunch at Crazy Weed was a lot better than expected. The fish and chips were the best I've had in Canada, and the Thai chicken salad outstanding. The price for these entrees at $16 was modest considering the portion size and quality. My only negative comment would be to deliver the chips in something that doesn't allow the last of the chips to become so greasy. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended as a favourite by a 'foodie', so my expectations going in were high. All started well but did not end that way. I had the Alaskan king crab risotto, which was a tasty, light version. Half way through the meal, I realized I was chewing on cartilage - somewhat forgivable if the cook doesn't know how to extract the crab meat in one big chunk after removing the cartilage first. A few bites later though and my gum was cut by a piece of shell - this is unacceptable! What's going on in the kitchen? The waitress seemed nonplussed when I mentioned it to her, "oh, you got a piece of shell" was her response. What? Is that a regular occurrence? It's evidence of sloppy prep and food handling in the kitchen. There was no apology or offer of compensation and it put a pale over my whole experience. My husband ordered a French Pinot Noir assuming it would have been taste tested as the featured wine that night; however, it was green, thin and under ripe. At $25 per glass and recommended by the waitress, it was a huge disappointment. All in all, I cannot recommend Crazyweed as a restaurant worthy of the prices they charge or the reputation that may soon be waning. read more

Our meal was delicious (except fish cakes were uncommonly spicy). Once we got our wine order sorted out, that was amazing too. Not clear if the server was upset she had not heard the order correctly (and needed to get a different pour) or she just took a clear dislike to us. She challenged my brother as to his reasoning he had ordered the red wine he choose (she thought he had said a different white). She did not come back to check on our order, offer more drinks, or take our waiting dessert order. It was a very uncommon experience for an expensive meal. read more

Went here for my birthday and they were sold out of most of what I seemed to want to order. What I did get, the pear pizza was good but not great. The seating was nice but it wasn't a memorable evening and for the cost, I don't know if I would return. read more

I have been to Crazyweed on two separate occasions. I can confidently say Crazyweed has the best food in the valley. Both times I had a hard time deciding what to try just because it all looked that good! The service has been fantastic, the servers very knowledgeable and considerate of any specific food requests. I love the atmosphere, the framed photos on the wall, the views. The food, I remember the first time I went (last year) my boyfriend and I tried the pine nut torte (because that just sounded odd) and were blown away by how delicious it was. This past time I had a pizza and ended up not even taking a slice home because it was so delicious I had to eat it all. The one thing, which will prevent me from going back, is the time it takes the food to be served. Both times the waits were 45+ minutes. Although with it being busy and in so high demand I expect a longish wait time, I feel as if it is a bit long. This past time my mother's boyfriend appeared to want to eat his foot about 30 minutes in which was a bit embarrassing as I had highly recommended it. I have friends who have walked out after an hour of waiting for their food. So, next time, I'll plan ahead to wait a while and probably order a side order of bread to make me feel less jealous of my table neighbours. read more

Yum yum yum! Stopped into Crazyweed on a trip through the mountains, after reading some articles that suggested that it is the best restaurant in Canmore! The reviews didn't lead me astray, I agree, Crazyweed is fresh and the perfect place to enjoy a warm summer's day in the mountains! I had a sangria which had lots of fresh fruit and was a nice sized drink. For lunch we shared the mushroom quesadilla and the fish tacos. Both were delicious, featuring a lovely spicy tomatillo salsa. The quesadilla was nice and crispy on the outside and cheesy and grilled-mushroomy on the inside. Laugh we didn't try it, the waitress introduced the curry of the day which sounded unique and refreshing as well. Will definitely return next time we are passing through! read more

If you ever decide to head out to the Rockies and happen to be hungry as you drive by Canmore, I highly recommend that you check this place out. I know some Chowhounder's have complained about their service (expect to wait for your food and sometimes even be 'ignored' at the door when you first enter) but I love their food so much that the mediocre service isn't stopping me from going back. My favorite route is to 1) pickup a brunch panini to go ($10) (that way you can avoid the mediocre service =) ha!) 2) park my car somewhere scenic and 3) just gulp it down. YUMMY read more

Great ambiance, great service and great food. Had the Thai chicken. Best I've ever had. So tender. Everyone was super nice.

This place is LEGIT. Came here for a meal the night before a backpacking trip, just expecting to have a few drinks and mediocre appetizers. Turned out to be so much more. The labneh plate had perfectly combined ingredients. The brisket burger was simple yet juicy and flavorful. Waitress was friendly and helpful yet not over the top or phony. And there was a small yet very pleasant patio which blocks out the noise from the busy highway. We had a few meals at the much fancier, much more expensive Fairmont Hotel and none were even close to as good as Crazyweed. read more

Great atmosphere and service. The chickpea noodles are free mini bites they serve while you wait for your food and taste amazing. There's not a lot of variety on the menu and they seem to love cilantro. The calamari appetizer and mushroom pizza were delicious. read more

I've lived in Canmore for long enough now that it was time to make the pilgrimage. The one everyone talks about in the area: and no, I don't mean the climb up Ha Ling. I mean to the Kitchen of Crazyweed. Yes, it is so highly spoken of in the area (and beyond, to Calgary) that you might say the standards were Crazyhigh for me. And so I put it off again and again instead opting to stay in. But one Sunday night the moon was right, the fridge was empty, and the menu looked great, so it became date night. The restaurant was busy for a Sunday, and quite loud, but comfortable. The service was harried, as is to be expected when just two servers were working almost the entire dining room. The service is actually my only complaint - but not because of anything the server or kitchen did. It was just a bit stilted and not on par with what you would expect to get for the relative price point and quality of the restaurant. But our server was apologetic, and it's Canmore so you can't be anything but easy going, so we took it in stride. It is weird to have your beer come half way through the appetizer - which arrived while you were still working on your bread, mind you - and to have one of the mains come out wrong. Don't get me wrong - it was still delicious (and taken off the bill.) Just - odd. The food was well balanced and full of peak, fresh ingredients - where the heck do they get such flavourful watermelon in the middle of October anyhow? Deeply satisfying and the meal far exceeded my high expectations. I can't wait to take advantage of my new found and deserved fandom. It's so conveniently close to my gym, you see... read more

Amazing food. Great service. I have a couple dietary restrictions and they were able to work around it and I found the food not only flavorful and great in quantity, the price is great as well. We will definitely come back when we visit the beautiful Canadian Rockies again!!! read more

These are the reasons why I loved this restaurant: * The food's presentation and flavour was incredible. * The service was great and they are very accommodating to any dietary restrictions. * They are right in the heart of the Rockies with an amazing patio overlooking the mountains. * The decoration and vibe of the restaurant is nice, very contemporary and bright. * Their wine menu has something to offer for every taste! * Their lattes are de.li.ci.ous. I am a seafood lover so naturally I had to try their albacore tuna served with potato skins (part of the lunch menu) and a latte to finish. The tuna was topped with an olive tapenade that was just the perfect compliment for a very flavourful dish. I was also surprised when I saw their prices and had such a great lunch for under $25! Will definitely go back to try the lamb meatball hot-pot. It looked simply delicious.... read more
