It's about time we have a great falafel place in Edison! The best part about this place is the homemade pitas. They are soft and chewy and are the best I have ever had. The falafel sandwich is large and filling and reasonably priced. The red lentil soup was also great. The owner is always working and he always accommodates customers to make sure they have a great dining experience. I have seen him multiple times give out extras for free stuff and make custom orders. Definately give this place a try. read more

I will be the first person to admit I do not like falafel. I've never liked it, and yes- I've tried it at every place you swear is "the best," including Israel. I do not like falafel. So why was I at a store called "Crazy 4 Falafel" and why have I given them 5 stars? Well My wife does like falafel, so sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do and get some falafel. I got her falafel in a pita, and her only complaint was that the mix-ins, Israeli salad/humus/cabbage/sauce, were not all evenly distributed and it was like eating 1 layer at a time. I had a bite in the Israeli salad level and the lettuce/sauce level and yea, still not a falafel fan. The shining star was the hummus platter. Now hummus I do like, and sabra hummus suits me just fine. Holy crap was I selling myself short if this is what homemade hummus tastes like! It was so good, and what ever the hell was on top of it was also amazing- eggplant maybe? I got the hummus platter with 4 falafel balls and the hummus was so good I actually ate an entire falafel ball with the hummus and liked it. That said, I left the other 3 for the wife, and ate more with the pita, which was very thick but super tasty. 100% this is my hummus spot for hosting guests. read more

This was place was good. I got the Platter that had falafel, tabouli, hummus, babaganush. The falafels were a bit hard, I think they over fried them a bit. The hummus was ok. As for the tabouli, that was my favorite part, it was really fresh and delicious! Don't know If I would go back but I am curious to try their lentil soup. read more

I was very excited to find a falafel joint opening just down the street from the office... and after several visits, my excitement hasn't faded. This could be dangerous. I recommend starting off with the Jerusalem platter, which offers a generous sampling of all the basics for just $7.50. Here's what you get: Falafel balls (freshly fried every time, and not greasy at all, they're super flavorful with a moist interior); tabouleh (while on the salty side, this has been consistently fresh and tasty); baba ghanoush (good and garlicky, with a nice hint of smokiness); and hummus (just fantastic, the real star of this show). The platter is finished off with a drizzle of tahini sauce and served with their house made pita. The pita itself is thick, soft, and fluffy - this may be the best pita I've had - and they serve it up warm for the dipping. Very bad experience. I ordered rice over falafel...instead of mexican rice it was Indian jeera fried rice there was no sauce...just dried rice with very hard falafel even don't break with fork. They don't offer hummus or mayo or any sauce to make it little moist to eat. Completely waste of money!!! read more

Tried the Baba Ganush and Falafel one Friday last month. Yummy! Went back for more the next day. The guy taking orders is kinda short on patience but the food's great, but hey - finally some decent falafel in the area! Have been getting take out at least once a week since then. Stopped here because my boyfriend and I did not want to go all the way to new brunswick. We both had Falafel in Pitas for $5 bucks a pop. Great sandwiches, Filled with Onions, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, cucumber, and possibly peppers. The hot sauce!! Wow it was hot, only had a little and it was smoking. Great food for a great price. This Israeli owned business will get my business for years to come!!! After reading the reviews for this place, I had the most intense falafel craving that I finally took care of today. I ordered the Jerusalem platter to go, and I was not disappointed. The falafel were crispy on the outside soft on the inside and absolutely delicious. The baba ganush and hummus were as good as I've ever had. I'm not a huge tabbouleh fan but it was definitely fresh and had great flavor. The pita was, without a doubt, the best pita I have ever had. Pillowy soft with the right amount of chew. So. Good. I was kicking myself for not ordering an extra one. The service was quick and extremely friendly. Any place that gives me a free falafel to tide me over while I wait is a winner in my book. Best falafel ever. Really, it actually ruined my other falafel spots for me lol. The falafel has an extra kick that most other places don't. Chicken shawarma over rice is also very good. I really haven't had anything I didn't like here. I enjoy a small cup of lentil soup on the side as well. The owners are very friendly and funny, my dad and I always enjoy chatting with them when we come by. I have a love hate relationship with this place. I love the food. The best in NJ. Period. Every time I eat here I'm in heaven. The pita is fresh, fluffy and amazing!!! I hate the hours. 8 PM is too early to close on a weekday. I can't begin explaining how often we've decided to get Crazy 4 Falafel and they end up being closed. I would say this year alone, this has happened 4 times. That's a big loss considering I am one customer with a family of 5. Lastly, please open up Sundays. I can't say enough good things about this place. Someone from the area clued me in maybe two months ago and I've been hitting it weekly ever since. Consistent each time and it's just my personal opinion, but it may, in fact, be the best falafel I've had in NJ or NYC (and I've eaten at all the top spots). Differentiators for me are that the pita's are always super soft and fresh, the falafel itself is beyond flavorful and their tahini is on the thin side, which is how I prefer it. The mix of vegetables they use to compliment the flavor is also spot on - a red cabbage paired with diced tomato and cucumber - and definitely don't sleep on the hummus, which is slamming. Can't speak on the meat dishes since I'm veg, but everyone I've rolled with that's tried them has done nothing but rave. The only warning I have is if you go for lunch during the week and have an office to get back to, call ahead. Not only does it get slammed, but they seem to still be trying to find their stride behind the counter. It's not the type of place you're in and out of in 5-10 minutes, even if you're just placing a to-go order. But 1000% worth it on every level. read more

This is a regular stop for me when I am in the Metuchen area. A great spot to grab a quick falafel sandwich that tastes top-notch. It has that mom-and-pop falafel bar feel and you get fully customize your sandwich to your liking (pickles and hot sauce, yo!). The cook will give you a sample, if you're patient, and you'll always experience that family owned environment. We ate here for the first time yesterday....and OMG! Best. Falafel. Ever. Hands down. The pita bread was to die for.. Fresh. Fluffy. Warm. Made in the store. We tried a little bit of everything - or as much as Vegetarians can try. Which is quite a bit actually. We ordered extra falafal balls ...and I can't stop eating them. When I gain ten pounds in a month, I will look at the falafal balls and know. But I won't care. By the way, the guys behind the counter were so friendly. So courteous. Ordered a chicken shawarma platter with rice and a chicken gyro sandwich to go for dinner tonight. The cost of our meals wasn't bad but unfortunately the food was. The basmati rice that came with my shawarma had a bad, bitter flavor to it and the chicken pieces were dry. Thank god it was drowned in white sauce or I wouldn't have been able to eat any of it. My son's chicken gyro sandwich had pieces of carrot, cabbage, and pickles in it and the pita it was served on was very thick which he did not like at all. The falafel pita is okay. Nothing to write home about, but edible. However, the kibeh are Terrible - almost inedible. They're kind of like a hush puppy, or a corn dog. Saw the reviews on Yelp while looking for an inexpensive lunch place in Metuchen. After reading a few review I decided I had to try it out for myself. I have now been here twice in one week. Its the first place I've been to that can deliver a chicken shwarma pita the way it should be. The chicken is seasoned well and cooked on a spit. The pita is soft and stuffed with cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and tihini the way it should be. They also have gyro and felafel which I will try next. Great food, served by great people within a family owned business setting. As a born and raised New Yorker, I have been enjoying Mediterranean food (Gyros, Shwarma's, hummus and falafels) from small spots and street carts since I was a kid. One word to summarize this place - Disorganized. I had read some of the previous reviewers complain about long waits and slow service, so I was ready to wait 15-30 mins. But this place was worse - I ordered the Falafel Pita sw which should have taken between 2-5 mins to ready but my order took 30 mins. Another group that was there ahead of me had to wait 50 mins to get a 4 Chicken Shwarma sw. Lamb Shawarma Over Rice ($9.95): I know I'll get a lot of flack for this, but the "lamb" actually tasted and smelled a lot more like lamb than what I've had in Midtown. The take out portions are plentiful--there was a lot of rice, plenty of sliced lamb, pickled vegetables, and a soft round bread (tandır ekmeği); it also comes with white sauce, and if you ask, a pretty spicy hot sauce. Outside of a little but more spiciness to the lamb, I don't really have any complaints. It's a large, filling meal for a pretty good price. Baklava with Chocolate Drizzle ($2): Sweet, but not too sweet unlike those I've had in Fresno. Nice and crispy filo with the right amount of crushed nuts and sugar. It's homemade, so that's why it's a $1 per piece. I wouldn't mind coming back here for lunch every now and th...oh wait, I don't even live in Edison. Damn. read more

Was heading to work cutting through Edison and was really craving falafel so I googled it and came across this place, and I'm super glad I did. I normal get my mediterranean fix in New Brunswick, but will definitely be back here again. The falafel was insanely good most all loaded to the top of my pita. Delicious definitely delicious!!! This isn't really falafel. Sorry. It's an Indian-style falafel maybe? They use a chewy, doughy bread similar to naan as opposed to an actual pita bread. Lots of veggies inside, which is nice, but nothing's seasoned. The falafel balls have no texture, it's as if they used canned chickpeas. They're very, dark brown...where are all the herbs? Somehow they're hard and dense to the touch, but soft when you eat them, but not in a pleasant way. Even the tahini is insanely thin. The hot sauce is good, but nothing like anything I've gotten at other falafel places. This place is definitely not for me. read more

Not a bad spot to grab a bite at. I'd actually give it a three and a half stars if I could. It's better than a three but not quit a four in my opinion. I will add that I'm not a huge frequenter of falafel places but I do compare everyone that I visit to the halal guys cart in NYC on 53rd and 6th. Those that know of this cart know that it's the best chicken and rice/deal in NYC. Huge portion of delicious chicken and rice with what must be a crack infused white sauce for like $6! The dining room here is very clean and the staff working here is very friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable for the location as well. I had the Chicken Shawarma platter and it was good. Decent portion of rice and chicken with a little cabbage salad served with it. The chicken flavor was ok but didn't really jump out at you. I wasn't crazy about the white sauce that's served with the platter to put over the chicken and rice. It actually had a burnt taste to it so I may have just caught a bad batch. We also shared some hummus and pitas. The pita bread was delicious but the hummus wasn't the best I've had. If I'm ever passing through this area again I'll stop in to try the lamb.
