It's about time we have a great falafel place in Edison! The best part about this place is the homemade pitas. They are soft and chewy and are the best I have ever had. The falafel sandwich is large and filling and reasonably priced. The red lentil soup was also great. The owner is always working and he always accommodates customers to make sure they have a great dining experience. I was very excited to find a falafel joint opening just down the street from the office... and after several visits, my excitement hasn't faded. This could be dangerous. I recommend starting off with the Jerusalem platter, which offers a generous sampling of all the basics for just $7.50. After reading the reviews for this place, I had the most intense falafel craving that I finally took care of today. I ordered the Jerusalem platter to go, and I was not disappointed. The falafel were crispy on the outside soft on the inside and absolutely delicious. The baba ganush and hummus were as good as I've ever had. I'm not a huge tabbouleh fan but it was definitely fresh and had great flavor. The pita was, without a doubt, the best pita I have ever had. Pillowy soft with the right amount of chew. So. Good. I was kicking myself for not ordering an extra one. The service was quick and extremely friendly. Any place that gives me a free falafel to tide me over while I wait is a winner in my book. Was heading to work cutting through Edison and was really craving falafel so I googled it and came across this place, and I'm super glad I did. I normal get my mediterranean fix in New Brunswick, but will definitely be back here again. The falafel was insanely good most all loaded to the top of my pita. Delicious definitely delicious!!! This isn't really falafel. Sorry. It's an Indian-style falafel maybe? They use a chewy, doughy bread similar to naan as opposed to an actual pita bread. Lots of veggies inside, which is nice, but nothing's seasoned. The falafel balls have no texture, it's as if they used canned chickpeas. They're very, dark brown...where are all the herbs? Somehow they're hard and dense to the touch, but soft when you eat them, but not in a pleasant way. Even the tahini is insanely thin. Best falafel ever. Really, it actually ruined my other falafel spots for me lol. The falafel has an extra kick that most other places don't. Chicken shawarma over rice is also very good. I really haven't had anything I didn't like here. I enjoy a small cup of lentil soup on the side as well. I have a love hate relationship with this place. I love the food. The best in NJ. Period. Every time I eat here I'm in heaven. The pita is fresh, fluffy and amazing!!! I hate the hours. 8 PM is too early to close on a weekday. I can't begin explaining how often we've decided to get Crazy 4 Falafel and they end up being closed. I would say this year alone, this has happened 4 times. That's a big loss considering I am one customer with a family of 5. Lastly, please open up Sundays. I gave them a bad review years ago because of the person who was working there interacted with me but the whole operation has changed big time. I love their food; their lamb shawarma in pita is AMAZING. When they run out of lamb I get the chicken which is delicious as well. I love that their hot sauce has some spice. The people that work there now are so nice and friendly and accommodating. There's a young lady and young man that are normally there when I go and they're the best. I can't say enough good things about this place. Someone from the area clued me in maybe two months ago and I've been hitting it weekly ever since. Consistent each time and it's just my personal opinion, but it may, in fact, be the best falafel I've had in NJ or NYC (and I've eaten at all the top spots). Differentiators for me are that the pita's are always super soft and fresh, the falafel itself is beyond flavorful and their tahini is on the thin side, which is how I prefer it. The mix of vegetables they use to compliment the flavor is also spot on - a red cabbage paired with diced tomato and cucumber - and definitely don't sleep on the hummus, which is slamming. Can't speak on the meat dishes since I'm veg, but everyone I've rolled with that's tried them has done nothing but rave. The only warning I have is if you go for lunch during the week and have an office to get back to, call ahead. Not only does it get slammed, but they seem to still be trying to find their stride behind the counter. It's not the type of place you're in and out of in 5-10 minutes, even if you're just placing a to-go order. But 1000% worth it on every level. read more

This is a regular stop for me when I am in the Metuchen area. A great spot to grab a quick falafel sandwich that tastes top-notch. It has that mom-and-pop falafel bar feel and you get fully customize your sandwich to your liking (pickles and hot sauce, yo!). When I gain ten pounds in a month, I will look at the falafal balls and know. But I won't care. By the way, the guys behind the counter were so friendly. So courteous. Ordered a chicken shawarma platter with rice and a chicken gyro sandwich to go for dinner tonight. The cost of our meals wasn't bad but unfortunately the food was. The basmati rice that came with my shawarma had a bad, bitter flavor to it and the chicken pieces were dry. Thank god it was drowned in white sauce or I wouldn't have been able to eat any of it. My son's chicken gyro sandwich had pieces of carrot, cabbage, and pickles in it and the pita it was served on was very thick which he did not like at all. Saw the reviews on Yelp while looking for an inexpensive lunch place in Metuchen. After reading a few review I decided I had to try it out for myself. I have now been here twice in one week. Its the first place I've been to that can deliver a chicken shwarma pita the way it should be. The chicken is seasoned well and cooked on a spit. The pita is soft and stuffed with cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and tihini the way it should be. They also have gyro and felafel which I will try next. As a born and raised New Yorker, I have been enjoying Mediterranean food (Gyros, Shwarma's, hummus and falafels) from small spots and street carts since I was a kid. One word to summarize this place - Disorganized. I had read some of the previous reviewers complain about long waits and slow service, so I was ready to wait 15-30 mins. But this place was worse - I ordered the Falafel Pita sw which should have taken between 2-5 mins to ready but my order took 30 mins. Another group that was there ahead of me had to wait 50 mins to get a 4 Chicken Shwarma sw. The food is fresh but it's not that nice which justifies the wait. ---- I appreciate the response from Tony M of the establishment.
