The flavors were rich, perfectly balanced, and you can tell everything is made with care. Every bite just hit. The restaurant itself was also very clean and well-kept--always something I notice and appreciate! We're honestly so sad to hear they might be closing when their lease is up in September--this place deserves so much love and support. This place is a hidden gem for sure. If you love Thai food and haven't been yet, you're missing out!

My hubby got the chicken fried rice and he liked it too :) He said it looked like a mom & pop place so love supporting local businesses. Give it a try yall! The pork buns were a bit dry and likely needed some kind of sauce but still tasty. The sticky rice was a generous portion but is a bit too spicy for me but I'm sure ppl that enjoy spicy food would like it. The food truck is next to the Vacancy brewing. Until this year, I never noticed right across the street was Vacancy Brewing and the SXSE Food Co food truck. I took advantage of an Austin Asian Restaurant Passport that benefited a local charity, while also promoting local Asian restaurants. SXSE Food Co was one of the participating restaurants, and I wanted to take the opportunity to try Laotian food. The food was solid, with the flavorful sweet and savory balance similar to Thai and Vietnamese food. The skewers were solid but the crispy fried rice was my favorite dish. It had amazing texture with the crispiness and chewy nature of the sticky rice. There's also freshness from the herbs. The dish overall reminded me of the savory sticky rice with Chinese sausage we make in Cantonese cuisine, and the nostalgia made me love it that much more.

To start, I had issues ordering from the 5610 Food Co website and ended up ordering from their Flipdish one instead. Once my order was placed, I didn't know when to pick up because an estimated time wasn't provided. So after letting over half an hour pass, I checked in on the self service ipad to find out my order was delayed. Being a ghost kitchen, there was only one person manning the counter so I had to wait a bit longer until my order was finally brought out. For food I ordered the following: Nam Kao-This tasted like a fried rice dish but Lao style with the addition of their traditional sausage as we opted for the original version. I couldn't taste too much of the red curry but I did like how they added crispy rice which gave it a nice texture. Heavenly Beef Jerky- We've had this before at other restaurants, but this meat was very chewy and tough, and in terms of flavor for some reason it left a soapy aftertaste... Fried Pork Riblet Combo-Was excited to try this as another yelper suggested it, but again, this riblet was very dry and rubbery, but I did like the rice. Kua Kee Laow Mr. drunky-Such a fun name reminding me of Thai drunken noodles. This dish was a good filler. Sakoo Yat Sai Moo-This was my favorite thing here! These were very easy to eat, reminding me of Tang Yuan, and instead of black sesame paste you have pork dressed in a sweet/savory/fishy dressing. Overall, I'd rate it as a 2.5 stars as I wasn't especially impressed with my first visit, but hoping I came on an off day as I really do love seeing more Asian representation. I think they are still fairly new so hopefully this is a learning curve and I unfortunately was part of the growth experience. If anything, I would come back for the Sakoo Yat Sai Moo (tapioca pork balls) but honestly it looks like they rotate a lot of their menu item and it might not be available then.

I ordered a couple of my favorites, a small Tom Yum soup with chicken and the drunken noodles with pork. I asked for medium spicy on both dishes. The soup looked very appetizing, but it was very sweet and had a strange flavor that I couldn't quite place. It was not spicy at all. The chicken, mushrooms and onions were nice. The drunken noodles looked nice and tasted OK although they too were not spicy at all. I added some chili from the table, condiments and managed to finish it off. I would have to try some other dishes to make a final determination, but I would say this was just average as far as taste goes. The dining room and service were very good and the prices were reasonable.

The pho was flavorful, the meats were tender, and everything tasted fresh. The mango sticky rice was absolutely delicious and ended the meal on a high note. The large Vietnamese egg rolls were crispy and flavorful, but I was surprised they weren't served with a lemon wedge, which is something I usually expect. The PW5 Combo listed bean sprouts on the menu, but they were missing from the dish. While it didn't take away from the overall flavor, I do think it's important for the dish to match the menu description. Service started off strong. Our waiter was attentive and checked on us regularly at the beginning of the meal. However, as our dinner progressed it became difficult to get his attention when we were ready for a to-go container and the check. Would I Order It Again?Absolutely. The food alone is worth coming back for. I'd just hope for a little more consistency with the menu items and a more attentive finish to the dining experience. Final Take: Great food, especially the pho and mango sticky rice. A few small service and presentation details kept it from earning five s, but it's definitely a restaurant I'd recommend. I guess it matches its name (4 s). A-List Rating: (4/5) Until next bite... this is A-List, keeping it deliciously honest.
