I asked for it very spicy and it came out beautifully. It was delicious. The seafood sauce was lacking flavor and spice also I did not enjoy the crawfish. It tasted like not fully cooked or old or some kind of weird chemically taste. Also the egg rolls are beef and more veggies than meat and a five spice flavor to it. It was soaked in oil as well. Tried the pad Thai , the noodles were overcooked and were very chewy and stuck together, I had a bite and was not satisfied with it. It was very different from other pad Thai dishes I've tried, I asked to take it off my ticket because it wasn't to my liking, the manager then came out and yelled out "who ordered the pad Thai?!" Then proceeded to yell at me and say that the pad Thai was authentic and that I just wasn't educated enough on authentic pad Thai... my parents and my extended family were there , confused and upset that the manager would behave this way. I was greeted warmly by the staff and was ushered inside to place my order. The menu was plentiful and had the menu entrees to satisfy my seafood and Thai cravings. I browsed the photos on Yelp and let the inner Foodie run wild. Glad for a golds gym membership, I ordered an entree of egg rolls, an order of corn on the cob, an order of Pho, an order of juicy wings as well as a juicy cluster of snow crab legs with the garlic butter sauce. I found a cozy corner to watch the Alabama game and patiently awaited the arrival of my food. The wings and egg rolls were out within minutes and were Delicious. The wings were juicy with a crunchy skin that Guy from Diners and Dives would be delighted to taste. The skin was a golden brown that I happily took juicy bite after juicy bite. They must of known my tummy capacity as the pho was wrapped as a to go order, making room for the crab legs in my Belly. I recommend dipping everything in the butter sauce to include the corn and wings. While I continued to demolish my meal, my server kept a nice cold water cup near to quench my thirst. I really do not understand people rate this place as the "best " seafood in San Antonio. This place is suppose to a fusion of LAOTIAN and seafood. The seafood part of the fusion was not that remarkable at all. The fried oysters tasted a we bit old(not fresh). They tasted as if they were fried in old oil. The spring rolls also tasted like your run of the mill spring rolls found at any location. So we did not order anything else. I mean why spend money if the appetizers are blah. The staff was friendly but the atmosphere lacked any luster. This is a problem found in a lot of businesses in SA. No one puts money back into their business as far as up keep is concerned. The laminated menus should have been replaced/reprinted. Due to the constant price changes the grease pencil erasures made the menus look dingy. I've always been a fan of Crawfish King, especially for their authentic Lao food. I normally order to-go just out of convenience and to note, I've never tried their seafood. Every time I pick up, the wait staff have always been polite. The ambiance is nice and the restaurant is always clean. So we used to live near medical center and we used to eat at Surfing Crab ALOT... but we moved up to the Windcrest area about a year ago? And making the travel every time kind of discouraged us, so we decided to give this place a try. But personally my husband and I were really disappointed in the food. We ordered 1lb of crawfish, 1lb of headless shrimp, and an order of fried rice with steak. PERSONALLY the food lacked flavor all over. I personally still ate my food. My husband just picked at it and preferred to throw it away. Honestly the seasoning was just so bland... we got the house special sauce I think that's what it was called? The restaurant eating area is fairly small but for a couple or small family it's fine; I wouldn't recommend it for a big size family. The service was also a little slow and in my opinion there wasn't that many people. There was more people taking to go orders than anything. I did see they had like a buffet sort of area on the side? Absolutely the worst king crab legs ever at $55 a pound you would expect them to prepare them properly. The legs bent like rubber and the meat was spongy with a nasty texture and no flavor. I kindly expressed my displeasure to a very sweet waitress at check out with half the order intact for return to the staff and she returned with a full bill and no consideration, so I paid my bill with a very nice tip for my waitress as horribly ruined king crab legs are not her fault. Firt and foremost it's a small place which it's okay, but they only had one person waiting on all the tables. She never came to ask if we were okay... literally had to go get our refills.. not once did she come and ask if we needed anything. But here's the kicker.. it was myself, husband and daughter on one table and then my other daughter, husband and two children. I was really excited about this place because the reviews but it was a terrible experience . This place was pretty pricey which I don't mind , however, they will not work with you at all. If you want to substitute if you have an allergy I need to take one thing out they won't do it. Anything you want to change is a plus charge. That stuff is annoying but that's not what really ruined my night. I ordered a margarita and when I tell you it tasted like water and syrup it was so bad I took one sip and was trying to tell the lady I would love to switch for another drink maybe a margarita on the rocks instead of the frozen, I paid for something and ordered something that was absolutely terrible and they did not care she kept the drink on our table and told us that in order to change your drink we would have to buy a new drink. We ended up asking just for to go boxes because the vibes were so off and I felt really upset how stingy this restaurant is. Spent $100 just to pack our stuff and leave. The server never checked on us after we asked her if we could replace our drink, I ended up having to go to the front and check myself out to Pay because she was basically avoiding us and there was only one- two other tables there. Came on a weekday. Place was nice and slow so service was good. The place itself was very clean. Most of the tables were two seaters, which you can combine for larger parties. They checked in a lot more than other places that I have been to. They also offer free bibs and gloves. They also have a unisex restroom, which I thought was very progressive of them. They have 3 different sauces: Cajun, garlic butter, and the house special. I recommend the house flavor. They only have spicy and extra spicy, so if you are looking for habanero or ghost pepper level spicy, you are out of luck amigo. I recommend that they play music instead of playing movies on the TV.
