My first hibachi experience and it was a blast! I was one of the lion dancing performers at Thai Spice & Sushi's 23rd anniversary celebration! I stayed to have lunch afterwards with a couple of family members and it was the most fun and so delicious. The sushi and drinks were refreshing, the hostess and our server were so sweet and kind, and the hibachi chef was so spirited and made us the most delicious meals. This place is amazing. The hibachi show and food are wonderful. The steaks, shrimp and chicken are fresh and flavorful. The veggies and rice cooked to perfection. The service has been amazing each time we have visited and Togo travels well. It's spacious, nice even temp, and the lighting is good. There's no overstimulation at all, very relaxed. This was the site of friend's birthday gathering and I'm so glad we went. The food was absolutely delicious. I had fried rice and chicken, which I did not want spicy at all and it was not spicy at all. My husband had the fried rice with shrimp, steak and scallops. It also was very good without being too spicy. We sat at the hibachi table with a group of friends and had a really great time. Our waiter was funny, entertaining and he kept things lively throughout the entire meal. The food was reasonably priced and arrived in a timely manner. We hope to return very soon. read more

Huge place with options of teppanyaki or regular menu food. We were craving Thai food. This was an interesting place, they had Thai, Japanese and Chinese food. We ordered Thai noodle soup, duck fried rice and Philadelphia roll. Food tasted great, however the roll never came as you can tell, no picture. What's strange is they plopped the bill on the table and we expected the roll to be on the bill, nope. So the waitress knew that she didn't want to serve the roll and that we didn't want the item, so she cancelled the item on her own terms? Interesting. Very strange style of service. Brought my Granny here on her birthday. She's more of a Chinese lover (think lemon chicken) so the Thai menu scared her a little it was sweet. I ordered for us the chicken satay 10/10, Thai egg rolls 10/10, beef fried rice 6/10 (I wish I did pad thai instead) and mango sticky rice 10/10. This place has been completely renovated. It was much more updated. Hibachi side and sushi/thai side were very nice with a sushi bar in the middle. The bathroom was also very nice. The food was very good quality with many options. The menu was a bit overwhelming with all the options. But everything we ordered was delicious. I thought the prices were not bad at all but the drink prices were really high. $6 for an adult lemonade is high to me compared to everywhere else. We will go back but probably order water in the future. The service was pretty good. And we enjoyed our meal. read more

Thai Spice has been a staple in my life, especially since my pregnancy with my youngest son when my number one craving was Thai food. No fault of their own when I went it was cash only because of the internet being down all over San Antonio so unfortunately I wasn't able to try as much as I would had liked because I didn't prepare to have to pay with cash. I was a little shocked at the $2 up charge for soy paper. I am allergic to seaweed so always have to sub and it's usually only $1.00. Went in to place a order to go for a small chicken and rice soup for $5 and the lady told me that I had to pay cash because they don't take cards for anything under $6. I asked to speak to the manager and the lady was the manager and brushed me off and walked away. There's no signage anywhere stating that and I felt like I was racially profiled. We tried the Hibachi and it wasn't impressive. Really expensive, no flavor, and items on the menu were not available. It's a very small portion for 30-40$ per person. We asked for refills on ice water and the pitcher being used had sprite in it. I asked for chili oil and received fish sauce with chili flakes in it. Usually I do not tip on To Go orders. It's pretty much a waste to me. This time in I tipped and felt great about it. They were soooooo nice. Offered me a drink while I waited. Not just a water, but a drink. That's service right there! I loved the layout of the restaurant too. It was my first time there, so next time I'll need to eat there and bring a date! Arrive early! This has been a good spot for Thai cuisine and because it is easy to get to - right off the northbound side of I-35 in the Forum Shopping Center. But they do have a notepad out at the hostess stand for a good reason! The great remedy to the wait on a table is the food to table along with their service from the wonderful ladies is super. I'm not a fan of the changes. Thai Spice was our favorite go to choice for a night out to eat. I have ordered for pickup but first time sitting in after the renovation and I am disappointed. The atmosphere is not as homey. The attempt at a high in sushi restaurant instead of the comfortable dining setup missed horribly. The waiter we were seated with was not what we were use to. Very dismissive very occupied came by a few times when we asked. Not like the personal touch the staff had before. Nice little lady came around and was very sweet to everyone. Unfortunately she didn't wait on us. Even the food seemed different but not in a good way. My spouse got the S39 some fish was old and a completely different color than other pieces of the same fish. Asked for an explanation and got an I don't know from the waiter. My food was just ok. Lemonade use to be the absolute best very sweet but not too sweet. It's now flavored sugar I am waiting for the extra ice to melt I guess ordering it with light ice and being ignored worked out. Im not use to appetizer coming before main dish but that happened. End of an era we are on the look out for a new place. The nice lady that usually is at the register and has been there a while came over and replaced the old fish and spoke to the waiter. The only complaints food wise I have is I got medium spice and it was the same spice level as the other plate we got with the thai spice.
