They do get really packed on the weekends and it's hard to find seating, and last time they didn't have crackers for the crab legs so it was a challenge eating my crab legs. If you know me well then you know how particular I am about my crawfish. I was told it was still too early in the year and that I should wait a couple more weeks at least. Well the crawfish beast in me could not wait! I called in an order of extra spicy with shrimp and sausage. I was told it would be about 15 minutes but they were ready when I got there about 7 minutes later. I was not disappointed. They were great! In fact almost as good as my husband's.... AMOST! I highly recommend this place and if you like an adult beverage it is BYOB so you can drink whatever you want and keep the price down. I boil up decent crawfish, or thought I did before going to Crawfish Hideaway. They've got it DOWN!!! I like spicy food, so stayed in the middle and got the spicy crawfish. If you only eat the tails, I'd say that the spicy is on the lower end of spicy. But how they cook em, the heads are FULL of juice and that's where you get the spice. I had to mop my forehead a couple times after I got knee deep in em. Very nice spice and great flavor. These folks know how to boil!!! Shrimp was perfectly cooked and good flavor/spice to it. Sausage is good (not the bologna type that swells and splits). Besides the crawfish, I was highly impressed with their corn. I usually over cook mine, little too soft. Theirs is perfect, crisp kernel bite and full of that flavor and seasoning. Beautiful, crisp spring afternoon, cars and trucks circling waiting on a spot to park. We ordered to go, 15 min wait turned out to be 30 because they were swamped, but it was the best crawfish I've eaten. So...we were excited to leave lake Charles and get crawfish as soon as we hit Texas ! Oddly our favorite restaurant in lake Charles didn't have it! So we stopped here to get our fix! We sat and sat and sat and sat ! Finally a sweet little girl named Brittany came and was like "I'm so sorry-let me at least get you menus while I find your waitress" she brought the menus and we sat and sat and sat and sat finally she came back and was like "let me get you your drinks" Brittany are you our waitress -no I'm too young-too bad cuz you rock ! I went to the window I guess for to go orders -RUDE! I asked can we order here ? No! You need to go to your table your server will be there shortly ! Lies!Finally after 17 minutes of waiting a server comes- rude as can be ! I didn't get her name because frankly I don't care ! BUT we were hungry so we stayed -stupidly! I ordered a pound of crawfish with every add in -when my food came it was missing the shrimp The waitress said "do you still want it or what ?" I'm like or what ? She rolled her eyes -if I was a fighting woman she would have had her eyes in the back of her head ! We tipped sweet Brittany 3 bucks for being sweet but the rest of this crew can kick rocks ! Although Yelp says it's closed, they recently opened up year round and offer more than crawfish- so they are NOT closed. If you want a fresh, delicious meal, I highly recommend this restaurant. I loved everything about the Hideaway. First thing when I walked in the door I was impressed about how spacious and clean it was. Our waitress came to our table immediately and was so helpful and friendly that I felt at home. We are still novices when it comes to ordering Crawfish and our waitress walked these two Seniors through the process of determining what we wanted, how much we wanted and how we wanted it prepared. We settled on 3lbs of Spicy Crawfish with Corn, Mushrooms and Red Potatoes. We had our order in less than 5 min and everything was delicious. It had the right spice for us (we passed on the extra spicy) and it was just the right amount. Crawfish can be messy but there was a bucket and plenty of paper towels to clean us up. I decided that if you don't have red Crawfish fingers during this time of year you are not a Texan. I loved the Hideaway and I intend to be there as often as possible during the season. This is by for the best crawfish I have had in Texas. I'm from NOLA and the do it like we do it. They where so good we ordered 20 lbs with corn ,tatters , mushrooms and sausage and you bring your own BEER . So I say if your in the mood for some good crawfish stop by here and it's just right of the interstate and the prices are fair. 4/8/18 we went there with some friends to eat crawfish and we went there because there were good the last time we went. Well this time I was not impressed with the quality of there boil. They had shake/dust as they call it. Please just let them soak in the boil where they have seasoning in them. Our family was very disappointed in this establishment. On there menu they have a hamburger but we couldn't order it because the waitress said oh there not cooking that today. We ordered boiled shrimp and asked at time of ordering if they could please put it on ice yes ma'am she says well not the case after about 10 minutes she comes back and said we can't put it on ice we have no ice maker and to top this all off 3 people in our group ordered iced tea and it was soured... Amazing crawfish!! The crawfish are big and they must have a secret recipe to get the flavor just right! I've been here three times since they opened in February. They have doubled their seating capacity since they opened. It's BYOB, but you can pick up beer at the Shell station across the street. read more
