Very disappointed!!! Didn't want to drive far to eat mariscos and this spot had so many good reviews so I decided to give it a try! And was very disappointed!!! From start to finish!! Service wasn't good! When we went in, nobody welcomed you in or even assisted you in sitting.. we were lost and just decided to wave hands to a guy who I believe was the owner and moved our shoulder Ana hands like "where?" He pointed to spots like "anywhere!" Ok, let's just sit down and see if food makes up the rudeness. I was WRONG!! When we sat down, a lady who never made eye contact seem very agitated and in a hurry to not even slow down and listen to our order!!! Her eyes and body kept moving away while we were placing an order, rude!!! I was looking around the place and it seems like it has been here for quite a while so I wanted to see if the food was the reason because definitely the customer service??! WASN'T IT! Food arrived and the caldo de mariscos that my husband order was the size of a dish for a child!!! Lacked flavor!! And had ramen noodle size shrimps!!! Ridiculous!!! And big chunks of potato!!! I ordered the wrapped bacon shrimp plate and it's NOT the way it's originally made!! It only had jalapeño and shrimp and reheat/refried bacon!!! It was old and you could taste and see it!!NEVER AGAIN!!! Service!! And food go hand in hand and it was horrible!!! The ambience was just bland, no good enjoyable feeling at all!! Don't waste your time or money going to El Sinaloense... I ordered fish, shrimp & oysters w/charro beans.... The shrimp & oysters had too much batter, fish was salty & beans weren't good either. I talked to te waitress (Gladys) and was told I had to pay for the food even if I couldn't eat it. I talked to the "manager" Hugo. He told me I had to pay for the food because I ordered it, NO EXEPTIONS. He finally agreed to take half off my meal. THEN I had to pay an additional 18% for the subpar service..... read more

I am always looking for new places for lunch and Bill enjoys riding; so we took a ride up to Baytown looking for Mexican food and ended up at El Sinaloense. We received chips and salsa after sitting down at the table. The chips were very good - made from homemade tortillas, I am pretty sure. The salsas were hot and not hot. Also good. I ordered the grilled salmon with a roll and a "salad." The salad was merely lettuce with a hunk of tomato on top. But it was fresh lettuce. The salmon was delicious! It was cooked perfectly and had good flavor. It sat on a bed of rice with some grilled peppers and onions. I enjoyed the rice as well. The roll was so so. The price was very reasonable. Bill got the shrimp stuffed Pablono pepper (I think it was called a Chile Relleno, but not sure). It was flavorful. The beans were good and so was the rice. The tortillas were homemade and very good. The decor was interesting - I especially like the wooden medallion and the shell hangings. (See photos). All in all, it was a good meal and reasonable prices. The service was excellent. My only warning is for those with mobility issues. My husband is not able to walk much and uses a walker and I sometimes have to push him in his walker, so I was a bit worried about getting him in and out. The parking is across the street (any parking spaces next to the building were full - none marked handicapped the I could see). The entrance door has some large humps that interfere with wheels getting over them so I got stuck pushing him across. My first visit here was back in 2013 as my client brought me here. I knew that I was coming back to Baytown for work and I told my client that we definitely had to come here for lunch. This place has got to be the best Mexican restaurant in Baytown if not all of Houston. I started with the small shrimp cocktail and the shrimp was plentiful. Oh, how I wish I could give 5 stars. The service was excellent and we never went without drinks or anything else. The chips and salsa (especially that green sauce" was to absolutely die for. I'd come back just for that. BUT, my entree was awful. It was the "diablo" shrimp with some kind of spicy sauce and cheese. Cheese on shrimp is the worst combination ever and to make matters worse, the sauce tasted more like an enchilada gravy. I ate one, took it home and threw it away. I also hated my Spanish rice but the refried beans were great. My husband opted for the shrimp Chile Relleno and said that although it was delicious, it was quite bland and needed more seasoning. He'll also probably opt out of shrimp in his favorite dish next time. The lemonade was tasty and fresh and the atmosphere was inviting and warm but I hated my food. We stumbled across this hidden gem after watching a play at little Baytown theater. Wow, they do seafood right! We tried the ceviche, the fish and shrimp combo, and the pulpo y camarones de Sinaloa. Everything was so good! The ceviche was really fresh, the fried fish and shrimp were light and crisp and fried just right. The Sinaloa plate was also really tasty and felt healthy but bursting with flavor. Service is fantastic with chips and salsa almost at our table before we sat. Food came out quickly and the staff checked on us frequently. Prices are very reasonable. The stuffed flounder is my favorite! There are two of these restaurants in Baytown - one on Garth Road and the other on Market street just off Airhardt. The newer one on Garth has a sports bar look. Don't greet your server with "hola" unless you actually habla Espanol. We were the only gringos here. Red and green salsa with tortilla chips are provided as part of the meal. My Modelo beer was served in a frosty mug rimmed with spicy salt and a lime wedge. The micheladas and shrimp cocktail I saw going to another table looked yummy. I had grilled shrimp tacos which were served with borracho style beans (spicy!) and rice. The shrimp was fresh and flavorful. I have not been to the new location on Garth. This is on the market street location that I have been going to since they first opened. My favorite is their grilled seafood platter with grilled veggies, the fish and shrimp ceviche tostada , and the shrimp cocktail. My family likes more of the fried items and they love it there. My mom is a retired chef at a ripe age in her 70's and she loves going there. Honestly I have not had a better tasting ceviche or cocktail anywhere else. We had an amazing lunch here today. The place and nice and laid back and the staff is super friendly. Here is what we ordered (three adults and a toddler): Michelada's - nice and spicy, peppery finish. Ceviche - on point and very fresh tasting. We all loved it. The tostada held up and didn't fall apart while eating. Shrimp cocktail- by far the best I've ever had. Not too tomatoee and had an awesome finish that we couldn't figure out but loved! Entrees - stuffed flounder was cooked perfect and the stuffing topping was perfect. The fried shrimp and fish were awesome. The fried fish reminded me of an awesome chicken fried fish - crazy good. This place is absolutely amazing. You can tell it's a hot spot when lunch time on a Thursday is extremely busy. And the food still came out freaky fast (move over jimmy johns). To start, you get a basket full of fresh tortilla chips and salsa which tastes like it's been made fresh in house. I ordered the fish ceviche which is a killer price for the amount of food you get with it. It's literally heaped and you get fresh avocado slices on top for only $3.50?! Delicious steal of the day. For my main, I got grilled shrimp tacos and they don't skimp on the shrimp. I counted 7 big plump shrimps in each taco. Everything but the fish was not fresh. Salad was room temp with room temp dressing. Roll was stale and rice was dry. The only thing I could eat was the fish, but the food handling/ quality of everything was so low I was honestly worried I might get sick. There is a difference between cheap and dirty.
