This was our first time visiting Cactus Jacks. It's a bit pricey, but very good. I love the atmosphere... it's rustic but cozy. They do have live bands so it may get loud, if that's not your thing. Now for the food... there was so much we wanted to try like the fried trio (zucchini, mushrooms, and pickles), but we chose the bacon deviled eggs and they did not disappoint! The bacon was candied and oh so good. They have a really good salad bar, and the waitress charged us for the kids portion since we were all getting meals that didn't come with a trip. Lots of good toppings to choose from. They have yummy rolls with honey cinnamon butter. My only complaint was the ranch and blue cheese was a bit too runny, and the blue cheese lacked flavor. My bonus daughter and I split the wings and the seafood platter. The wings are really good, we got hot and cherry jalapeño barbecue. The seafood platter was very good, huge portion, 6 shrimp and 2 large pieces of catfish, and the french fries were awesome. I just wish the tartar sauce tasted a little bit better. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it wasn't my favorite. My husband had the signature sirloin topped with a seafood sauce. It was really good and cooked perfectly. He got the loaded mashed potatoes, but they were very dry, they needed some cream or some butter or both. I also got a side of fried okra, I didn't care for it, not very flavorful and not crispy. My daughter got the kids cheese enchilada dinner, she didn't care for it, she said it was mostly cheese and no tortilla. The dessert menu is extensive, and it was hard to make a choice. I wanted to try the brownie bottom cheesecake, the Keylime pie cheesecake, the bourbon, pecan cheesecake, and the Texas velvet chocolate cake. My daughter and I both went for the Texas velvet chocolate cake. The waitress failed to tell me that the portion size is HUGE. Wish I'd have taken a pic! It's two huge slices of chocolate cake on top of each other. Let me tell you, though, this is one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. The cake part was moist, I hate that word, but I can't think of another word that describes it. Very flavorful and chocolatey. The icing was one of the best I've ever had, it's a chocolate buttercream and so good. We've eaten on this cake for a few days and it is not going to waste, that's for sure. I think the cake was the best part of the meal. Soooo good. My husband got the salted caramel pecan pie, it was very good. He's not a crust person, but he actually ate all the crust, it was so good. Overall, I really like cactus jacks and I would come back. The waitress was mediocre, for example, she told me they didn't have blue cheese, but they obviously did. She wasn't very attentive at the table, took awhile to get refills and we weren't able to get her to get us some butter for the mashed potatoes because she was rarely there, just a bunch of little things... She was very sweet though . The only reason why they got five stars was the chocolate cake, I think they really deserve four stars because their sides and condiments need some work. But, we will give it another try for sure. read more

Every time I drive to texas. The sun always catches my eye from the interstate. Friday, I checked them out for the first time for happy hour. I only grabbed the drink. The margarita was strong. The bartender was nice. Yesterday I stopped by for lunch. Service was good. However, I was disappointed in the food. I had the lunch fajitas, I'm not a fan of Spanish rice or refried beans. The rice was plain not seasoned. I had the cookie skillet for dessert. Ice Cream was salad as a rock. It even took forever for to melt from the heat of the cookie. Two gentlemen were sitting next to me at the bar. We was noticing how they had a few birthday celebrations that were taking place. Come to find out we both are Aries. Our birthdays are April. I ordered the fried shrimp, which came with fries and coleslaw. The shrimp was cooked well, but honestly not worth the price. Surprisingly, the coleslaw was the best part of the meal -- it was fantastic. The fries were pretty mediocre. The service was okay, though the servers came across a bit bratty. The atmosphere was overcrowded, busy, and extremely loud. There was live music and TVs everywhere playing country music videos, some with revealing images of women, which didn't feel very family-friendly. Cactus Jacks was on the books for dinner - party of seven. We were sat quickly in a massive booth with lots of space. We quickly realized that it was impossible to have a conversation with everyone when paired against the loud music and 6-7 feet distance between us all. Bummer. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us often. She brought chips to the table but even after we asked for another set of chips and salsa for the other half of the table, it was still really challenging to get a chip due to the distance. This table was massive... and inconvenient. It felt a bit ridiculous. Several of us ordered soup and salad, which was easy as we left immediately to the salad bar in the far back corner. The line here backs up quickly as you can only access the salad bar from one side. That aside, I did appreciate the wide selection of veggies, the crumbled bacon and cheese options at the end. I also grabbed a dinner roll, golden and perfectly sized. My chicken and sausage gumbo arrived a little later but was lukewarm at best. Two bowls arrived this way and we asked to have them warmed up. They took quite a while to return. Our waitress checked on them and shared her apologies. We had them rerouted as to go orders as the wait had already been a good 15 minutes. No idea how these tasted. The salad I created was amazing though. We may return if time permits, but thus far, Cactus Jacks has several areas for improvements. This place is huge inside. They have an indoor/outdoor area with a playground for kids, live band, large tv screens, 2 bars. There is a designated kid area if you are dining with kids. I'm not really sure how I feel about this. The customer service is good as well. They can get a little busy at times so be patient. The food is really good. Out of nowhere I was told I "had to order food" before another drink. Stupid rule, but whatever -- I ordered and PAID for the food. Then shift change comes in. I order a vodka Red Bull, take THREE sips, and the new server snatches it away because they overheard me on a private phone call joking that I was "drunk." Not based on my behavior, not on anything real -- just eavesdropping and overreacting. I wasn't slurring, stumbling, or causing a single problem. But they still took the drink away AND charged me for it. This staff is untrained, unprofessional, and way too sensitive to be serving alcohol. If this is how they treat a loyal, respectful customer, I can only imagine how they treat everyone else. Don't waste your time or money here. This place is a joke And if they think I'm lying then they can post the security footage of me at the bar. I've ate and drank here so many times. Not having many places in this community that are "high end" this gained popularity due to sit proximity of a growing area. The live attraction's entertainment and occasional UFC fight. I stopped by here on my way home from New Orleans. The food was good. We got the cracklin deviled eggs for an appetizer. For the entree, i just got the tortilla soup and a salad. The salad bar is your average salad bar, nothing extravagant but still had plenty of fresh options to choose from. I did enjoy the cheese blocks at the end that you can get fresh cheese slices from. The tortilla soup was good, however, i prefer my soup with more broth. The service was great. Everyone was very friendly. The decor was nice as well. Mozzarella sticks were good, served with ranch and marinara...very tasty! Pizza was great, some burnt edges made it so so good! We stopped by Cactus Jack's on our drive home and definitely glad we made the stop! It was around 8:30 on a Saturday night and the place was very lively yet still kid friendly. There was a band on stage playing covers from multiple genres which satisfied old and young listeners alike. The restaurant service worked like a well oiled machine and you could tell that management was well trained. Our waitress Armani was friendly and attentive to us during our visit. We really enjoyed the salad bar that was well stocked and variety of fresh produce as well as block cheese that you could slice yourself! I enjoyed my steak that was cooked just as requested and the kids ate their sliders and Cactus burger barely leaving anything behind. I finally got the chance to try Cactus Jacks. They soft opened in mid-December. Found parking scarce considering how big of a restaurant it is. It was amusing to see the larger F350 types were able to make their own parking on the landscaping. The Host/Hostess stand is right at the front door, and we were greeted with a 80 minute wait. I usually don't agree to wait this long but went ahead since we were already there. The interior is rustic and beautiful, with a large wrap around bar and coctail tables in front. There is a large dining room that gives off a Munich beer hall vibe with a stage for live music, which was going on that night. We were notified by text that our table was ready, and we were promptly seated and greeted by our server. There are a few signature cocktails they offer, but I didn't try any. I did go with a pint of Ziegenbock at $4. I also noticed they have buckets of beer and 34 oz draft! We opted for the .99 chips and salsa, which was a red one with a roasted flavor and guacamole/ranch salsa, and it was pretty darn good. After scanning the menu, my daughter wanted the Cowboy Ribeye, but we were told they were out? I found this to be unusual on a Friday night at 8:30? She got the Filet Mignon instead cooked medium. Me and my wife got the Fajita Enchiladas, I got the combo, and my wife got the skirt steak one. The Filet was melt in your mouth and cooked perfectly with a side of white cheddar mac and cheese. I received my plate, and it was blazing hot and found the black beans dried out, and the enchiladas were all chicken, and it wasn't what I ordered. I brought it to the servers attention, and she changed it out. I also ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp brochette covered in jack cheese, and this was delicious. My remake came out, and it was perfectly made. Overall, I like it here and will come on a slower day and see if some of the mistakes are corrected on the next visit.
