Cactus Jacks was such a breath of fresh air from your typical country western bbq vibe restaurant...ambiance was rustic chic, fun, lively! You could be there for ladies night, special occasion, or just a regular. It had a really fun vibe! Live music playing...Altuve and the Astros on the big screen! JJ was our waitress and she was amazing...super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, had great suggestions & was super fun! We started out with some blackberry mojitos, so refreshing and yummy! We did a combination of apps and pizza. Chips and queso were good, wings were tasty...had the hot which weren't too hot but good and jalapeño cherry bbq (Dr Pepper base)...kinda sweet not really my vibe but definitely get why they are popular. I feel like you have to try them just for the flavor name alone. Quesadillas were very good, but if you don't like the smoky taste of chicken you won't like them. Mozzarella sticks were good, served with ranch and marinara...very tasty! Pizza was great, some burnt edges made it so so good! Tortilla soup was okay, not my vibe...super smoky (again if you aren't into it you may not appreciate the soup). It was served hot with avacado. We ended with a slice of cheesecake...shared between two, was very good, creamy, strawberry sauce, strawberries, and whipped cream. Definitely save room for dessert! Overall, fun experience for a night out with the girls! Great food and drinks...got to see the Astros & listen to live music at the same time. Music was awesome! It was our first time here and even though it was super busy and packed our wait time was less than two minutes. Service was quick very informative very polite thank you Kennedy R. We stopped by Cactus Jack's on our drive home and definitely glad we made the stop! It was around 8:30 on a Saturday night and the place was very lively yet still kid friendly. There was a band on stage playing covers from multiple genres which satisfied old and young listeners alike. The restaurant service worked like a well oiled machine and you could tell that management was well trained. Our waitress Armani was friendly and attentive to us during our visit. We really enjoyed the salad bar that was well stocked and variety of fresh produce as well as block cheese that you could slice yourself! I enjoyed my steak that was cooked just as requested and the kids ate their sliders and Cactus burger barely leaving anything behind. It wasn't the cheapest restaurant, but taken into account the service and atmosphere it was well worth it and will definitely be retuning in future! read more

I finally got the chance to try Cactus Jacks. They soft opened in mid-December. Found parking scarce considering how big of a restaurant it is. It was amusing to see the larger F350 types were able to make their own parking on the landscaping. The Host/Hostess stand is right at the front door, and we were greeted with a 80 minute wait. I usually don't agree to wait this long but went ahead since we were already there. The interior is rustic and beautiful, with a large wrap around bar and coctail tables in front. There is a large dining room that gives off a Munich beer hall vibe with a stage for live music, which was going on that night. We were notified by text that our table was ready, and we were promptly seated and greeted by our server. There are a few signature cocktails they offer, but I didn't try any. I did go with a pint of Ziegenbock at $4. I also noticed they have buckets of beer and 34 oz draft! We opted for the .99 chips and salsa, which was a red one with a roasted flavor and guacamole/ranch salsa, and it was pretty darn good. After scanning the menu, my daughter wanted the Cowboy Ribeye, but we were told they were out? I found this to be unusual on a Friday night at 8:30? She got the Filet Mignon instead cooked medium. Me and my wife got the Fajita Enchiladas, I got the combo, and my wife got the skirt steak one. The Filet was melt in your mouth and cooked perfectly with a side of white cheddar mac and cheese. I received my plate, and it was blazing hot and found the black beans dried out, and the enchiladas were all chicken, and it wasn't what I ordered. I brought it to the servers attention, and she changed it out. I also ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp brochette covered in jack cheese, and this was delicious. My remake came out, and it was perfectly made. Overall, I like it here and will come on a slower day and see if some of the mistakes are corrected on the next visit. The quality of food is good but not 25.00 a plate good. I tried the -Spinach Artichoke, it was very delicious (9/10 would order again) -Chicken Alfredo also delicious (9/10 especially bc the grilled chicken was so flavorful and also a generous portion of protein) - Chicken Fajitas (9/10 very juicy and flavorful, you can tell they were marinated with love, AND the rice and refried beans were also delish AND they have fresh flour tortilla which I was v pleasantly surprised by.) -Shrimp Gumbo (3/10 this was a big let down. So glad we stopped by! The restaurant is a bit far from our home, but it was definitely worth the drive. The place is spacious with plenty of seating (both indoors and outdoors). They have a large playground with nearby tables so we were able to we were able to watch our kids comfortably. The play ground has a huge secure fence and good amount of turf, so the kids were entertained the entire time. You really can't put a price on peace, I would've given them all of my money. Thankfully, I didn't have to, the prices are very reasonable and food portions are filling. I ordered the 6oz sirloin, and was pleasantly surprised at how well seasoned it was. My husband ordered the filet mignon, which was soft, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and I read on their website they occasionally have live music. I gave this place so many chances, but the food just plain sucks and it's so overpriced. Everything is either over cooked or under cooked. The service is always terrible and it's so loud you can hardly hear the person sitting next to you. Stopped by this place on the way into Houston, very very large restaurant! Blew me away in a good way, they also have live music up front which was very nice. Food unfortunately did not live up to par with the setting. Lot of what we got was pretty bland imo. We got the seafood boil, wings(a popular item in the group), ceviche, chips and salsa and gumbo. Things like the seafood boil and gumbo just lacked salt and flavor, which was disappointing.
