This was my first visit to Cactus Jacks with 40 friends. We were at two long tables and only had one server per table. There was not enough servers to work the group. It took a very long time to get our water and some people got their mixed drinks before they received their water. One person ordered a Manhattan and the server never heard of that drink and you only order drinks that are on the drink menu. I ordered a bourbon old fashion with makers mark. They could not make that, I had to order from the menu their version named "Must be the Wiskey". It used Old Forester bourbon. Not what I wanted but that was as close as they would go what I wanted. The biggest issue is I never received the dish I ordered. When the bill came it was $42.74 before taxes and 20% tip because we were a large crowd. I asked to see the manager and she offered to take off $21.37 or 50%. I wanted to be comped for the full meal but I did not want to make a fuss with my group of friends because I hangry. The server did bring me a piece of cheese cake to go. Before going home I stopped at the "Time out Tavern (TOT)" in Atascocita and ate a couple of sliders. They were great and I'd recommend TOT for it''s food, drinks and ambiance. I''ll never go back to Cactus Jacks again. One because of never getting my food and second because you can only order what's on the drink menu and not defined the spirt you want in your drink. read more

Patio Ambiance was nice environment for kids. We purposely sat near the play ground so the kids could play. Main Food was okay, nothing "wow-ed" our party about the food. Best thing food wise was the green sauce with the chips. I was a little upset that our appetizer came right after our main course was served at the table. My first impression coming here was good, the place is rustic and nice. When we got to the hostess no one greeted us they just said to us "how many?" and didn't smiled at us. Just taking 1 star for that. The wait time was for 10 minutes which is not bad, as soon as they seated us our server was really nice and took our drinks, I ordered a Frozen Wildflower which the flower is edible!! It is soo delicious and flavorful. My friends and I ordered different types of things from the menu like, Chicken parmesan, Texas cheesesteak, and smoked chicken enchiladas. Everything was hot and delicious!!! They have music and the TVs on but you still can talk without screaming so its perfect for a night out with friends. Disappointed is the best word to describe our experience. The restaurant has been designed so well, much attention was spent to creating just the right atmosphere however it's is painfully obvious that no attention was given to the kitchen. Our chips were so salty we had to shake the salt off before dipping in the cheese. As we waited to order we noticed at all the tables around us no one was eating the food served to them. Each having various complaints. We became concerned and when we attempted to order one of their sandwiches we were told we could not request items like tomatoes to be removed! Never have we heard of this for the price they were charging for the meal. Until the hire a true chef and kitchen manager I would stay away. read more

Nice atmosphere. The wife had the chicken fried steak and she enjoyed it. I had the chicken- sausage gumbo and salad bar.I do not recommend the gumbo. One of the worst gumbos I've had. The chicken was hard and tough. I don't believe it was cooked in the gumbo but rather Grilled and added when ordered. I would go back but will avoid the gumbo. The salad bar is good. read more

I ordered salmon, and the glaze was so good! My husband and son got a ribeye and a filet mignon and both enjoyed it! My other son got chicken fried chicken and mother got fajitas they all loved the taste. I loved their salad bar and the variety that was offered. Their rolls are melt in your mouth good. The service was phenomenal, everything was done so efficient and in a timely manner. We stopped at Cactus Jacks on the way home from Louisiana in a Saturday afternoon. Great atmosphere, kid friendly, good service. I ordered the shrimp gumbo and salad. I liked the salad bar but it was messy and not kept up - low in many items but overall good salad. The gumbo was awful- the roux was more like gravy, veggies too large and shrimp were rubbery from being overcooked. My husband had the brisket burger, he thought it was good but the onions and poblano could have been cooked longer and not crunchy. Queso was good! Delicious michelada! I feel this establishment was really hyped up but disappointedly let us down. First, the wait was extremely long to get a table unless you went to the bar which is what we ended up doing. (We were there right before 7pm on a Tuesday, not sure what time their rush starts in the evening). It took a while for staff to even acknowledge and take our drink order. When we placed our drink order we went ahead and placed our food order as well. My husband ordered the All American burger which he said wasn't all that great. I ordered the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp tasted stale as if they had already cooked it, got cold and tossed it back in the fryer a few times. Fries however were really good. Think that was the only part of the meal we enjoyed. Place was vibing. Music was good. Although we didn't care for the food, we may consider coming back for the live band. read more

After hearing great things about Cactus Jack, visiting Baytown we wanted to give it a try. We arrived at 9:55 on Saturday 4/26, pulled in the building was full and there was also a live band!! We asked for a table sitting 2, the hostess behind the counter told us that it was 10pm and that the kitchen was closed. I was confused because I made to sure to look up the hours or operation before we arrived because I didn't want timing to be an issue, which from what I researched closing was at 11. I mentioned to the hostess that I thought closing was at 11. There was a second hostess that chimed in and told me no they closed at 10:30. Again confused, I said ok. The first hostess offered to check to see if we could still be serviced but after feeling completely taken back because none of it was making sense, we declined. The following morning, I called in to speak with a manager who was very understanding and informative, he explained to me the hours of operation etc. The hours that I originally thought (11pm) was correct! I explained to him the experience we encountered and how it was hurtful and disappointing. read more

Good food, great service and great vibes. We brought our bernedoodle and sat out in the patio. The heaters were on out in the patio but they were able to turn them off for us. There was a live singer on stage and really brought a nice vibe to the place. There was indoor and outdoor seating the place is quite large. My favorite was the salad bar- ayce! The Bloody Mary we ordered was a little too spicy for an empty stomach. But if it wasn't so far though we'd surely be back! read more

First time at this location and it was a great experience. We were seated immediately upon arriving at 5:10pm on a Friday evening- 1 star! Seated at a tabletop in the middle of the room. It's a large area and plenty of conversation going on, but we didn't have any trouble hearing each other throughout the meal. We were greeted quickly and drink orders were delivered pretty darn fast for a Friday evening - 1 star. The menu had some surprises on it - food I hadn't expected to see. We started with the house queso and I got the Cowboy ribeye and it was great! We also got beef enchiladas and pecan pie for dessert. We were asked several times about drink refills - 1 star, and even had an offer for more chips with our queso. The staff were working together to get food and drink delivered efficiently. I always look for people standing around doing nothing and I was pleasantly surprised that everybody was helping out - well done! In all, it was a really good first impression. It is getting warmer in Texas and the humidity was pretty bad, but they did a decent job keeping the place cool with all the open doors and outdoor area letting the heat in. Large tv screens everywhere make this a great place to hang out and watch football in a few months! Alcohol prices are what we expected and they have a great variety with many locals included - 1 star. We'll be back. Often. We went back after our first debacle here soon after they opened. Talk about a turnaround, OMG!! This place now is amazing! The ambience is awesome! Beautiful surroundings, great stage setup. This place is a party waiting to happen! And the food is sooooooo good! I had the barbecue wings. Crunchy and delicious! You don't need anything to dip them in, but it comes with them. I also had a sirloin, cooked beautifully. So tender you could cut it with a fork! My only tiny complaint might be that it had a bit too much salt. And the salad bar to start is the bomb! My wife had the fried shrimp that were a nice size and cooked beautifully! We also tried the delicious spinach artichoke dip with chips. So,so good! Now the service. Just amazing! read more
