Flash fried and Bell pepper really balanced the flavor throughout. The chicken pot pie was a standout. Visually impressive and even better once you dig in, it comes topped with a crispy, buttery croissant crust that spills over the bowl it's baked in. Inside fresh cubed chicken, carrots, and celery in one of the creamiest fillings. For dessert, the bread pudding made me pause mid-bite and demand my dining mate to try it immediately. That mofo slaps...hard. Everything coming out of the kitchen felt sincere and carefully prepared this was one of the best dining experiences ive had all year. Hands down. This place is a hidden gem. If it were located in the Loop, you'd be waiting weeks, months for a reservation and they'd probably already have a James Beard or Michelin award.

We spied City Lites while driving down main street and decided to drop in. City Lites is a local hangout and when we walked in the patrons at the bar all turned to see who was letting the daylight in. This is a neighborhood joint/dive and I mean that in a good way. It was dark, cool, and had a great jukebox (my kind of place). There are ample TVs to watch sports, the beers are served cold, the drinks are poured generously, and the price is beyond reasonable. Next time we are in town for number one grandson's game we will surely plan to arrive early to patronize City Lites.

I really want this place to make it here in LaPorte but I'm hoping they will improve the bar menu. Their drinks are just not good. Last time I had a Mai Tai and a Bushwacker, this time a Tito's vodka and cranberry and a margarita. The Bushwacker was like a snow one or a dessert, however the other 3 tasted of no alcohol at all. Tonight the vodka and cranberry was very small and tasted like watered down juice. The margarita tasted like pure limeade juice from the grocery store with nothing mixed in it. I wish they would spend some time coming up with some yummy cocktails. The bottled beer even tasted flat as if it had been cold, then warm then cold again. However, we did have a good server.
