    shrimp and grits

We had a fabulous brunch at Ed's Bistro celebrating my mom's birthday. Everything was amazing and homemade. We started with the strawberry glazed biscuits and WOW... those melted in your mouth. Absolute heaven! My mom and I loved the shrimp and grits. They used fresh jumbo gulf shrimp over cheesy grits. It's the best we've ever had. My sister also enjoyed her croissant sandwich. We ended the meal with the strawberry shortcake dessert. It was also a big hit and I see why they are famous for it. Special thanks to Magen for making my mom's birthday brunch extra special. She kept the cocktails flowing and even offered us some off menu items like her cherry cosmo and dragonfruit mimosa. We absolutely loved the old town country feel and this was truly the best brunch experience we've had in a long time. We can't wait to visit again soon.

I am so happy to have found this local gem! Some gal friends and I went for lunch. It was so good that my boyfriend and I went back that evening for dinner and plan to go Sunday for brunch! The food was fresh and delicious. They have several specials that are not listed on the regular menu. Don't pass on the short rib grilled cheese and tomato soup! The staff is also very friendly.

Excellent food. Phenomenal service. And fantastic drinks! The owners are the sweetest people who love supporting other local small businesses. Have a question? They will get you an answer. This place has great vibes and an inviting atmosphere. Hours are nice and reservations make everything convenient. Dog friendly patio too! Check their Facebook for upcoming Live music and events!

The place is super cute! I'm glad I came across this place when I was wanting some breakfast while enjoying the weather outside. My waitress is super sweet. Her last name is Boring so don't get offended when you see it on your receipt. Haha

I got the sea bass (chefs special) and the wedge! Everything was so yummy and the service was great. They have a great range of wine and desserts too! Will definitely be back!

Food, flight, and outdoor, dog friendly location was a perfect brunch spot. Our server, Dorothy was so sweet and happy!!

This one has been on my bookmarks for a while and thankfully I went for a Galentine's Day event and truly this spot exceeded my expectations! They accommodated a group of 40 which is truly impressive, our waitress Sophia was amazing! She was organized & charismatic, I paid a second visit just for her. Now the food, it does take a while to come out but well worth the wait. My first visit I ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict with potatoes as my side, delicious. There's nothing worse than a cold crab cake but these came out perfectly. Second visit I ordered the shrimp and grits, grits were super creamy covered in a brown gravy. However I wish they gave more shrimp but it was pretty hearty and did get me full, its just that good I wanted more. Great cocktail selection, espresso martinis were made with freshly brewed espresso. Definitely looking forward to my next visit

My girlfriend would rate 4-5/5! Espresso: my girlfriend loveddddd it!! She would do 4-5/5 and I would say around 3-3.5. I wish it were chocolaty-er but my gf wouldn't change a thing. They had our table already prepared which was fantastic, but the restaurant was slow and not very busy. We could've just walked in and, other than having to wait for them to prepare our table, been seated right away. Our waitress, Moriah, was fantastic! She had tables on opposite sides of the restaurant, but since they weren't very busy it didn't seem to be an issue. There were a couple of times when we had to ask for drink refills, but it wasn't horrible. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was good, and I appreciate that they have some options that you wouldn't find just anywhere. That's the kind of thing I look for in a restaurant. However there were a few places where they fell short. 1. There was no kids menu. This may not be a big deal for a lot of people. It wasn't a big deal for me since my toddler eats pretty much anything, so we shared. It WAS however a big deal for my 6 year-old niece who does NOT eat anything. They told my sister that they could make some butter noodles or take the harissa off of a pizza and make it a smaller size for her. She opted for the butter noodles which were bland and unseasoned. Then they have no salt or pepper on the tables so she couldn't even season them until she asked for some. It helped, but they still weren't very good. 2. The food is overpriced. It's good food, but the prices were a little steep compared to the quality. My sister and I discussed this later and we both had the same thought. We didn't understand why they weren't busy because they had the potential to be, and it just felt like they maybe were trying TOO hard. I would go back, but this wouldn't be a regular choice for me. I'd be happy to go if someone chose this as an option, and I might even choose to go back for a date night or something. I like the atmosphere of the place as well as how open it felt... I don't love a crowded space. Another thing I loved was the Smoked Caramel Bread Pudding. I'm surprised I liked it so much because I don't typically love added smoke flavor, but this worked! Listen, I LOVE bread pudding. If there's ever bread pudding on the menu, I'm going to get it. This being my birthday dinner dessert was absolutely fine by me. The edges were a little caramelized and it was absolutely delicious and everyone who tried it agreed. Give this place a try, but just know that you may pay a little more than what it's worth. It's still tasty food though! Also... try the bread pudding!

They hail from over two decades of headliner performances all over the world. Wow. We found street parking pretty easily and walked a short block to their 510 West Texas location. As soon as you cross their threshold, date night begins. Or maybe you're connecting with your besties? Celebrating an anniversary or just getting out for a one of a kind night. This would deliver on all fronts. Cozy. Fun. Chill. Surprising. Energetic. These are the words that kept coming up for me and the party I was with. Pair a great night of organic entertainment with wine and craft beer and what's not to like? We started with a moscato and ended with a sweet red wine blend. Prices are what you'd expect and buying by the bottle was very doable. My guy had several German beers while others in our party stayed on the lighter side with craft beers from Galveston Bay Brewing. Whatever you like, there are options. We also spied a gorgeous charcuterie board at a nearby table. We were tempted despite having just eaten, lol. As if cozy seating and a wine bar isn't enough, Donovan and Rebecca also bring in local artists who are spectacular. We met two tonight - one aerial performer named Aaron and another creative man with a killer 'stash. If you've not seen someone performing on silks, add Donovan and Rebecca to your list. While randomly Googling, I remembered Boondoggles and decided to give the 'old place' another try. My first visit was for a dinner with classmates from UHCL; my second was with my brother. The eatery looked practically the same as it did nearly eight years ago. Its dive bar meets German beer hall vibe is still very much alive, and the place was still bustling with people. I came in with fish and chips on my mind, but a lengthy scan of the menu led me to the Florentini Chicken, while my brother ordered the shrimp po-boy. The Florentini Chicken was really good, and I think it's a solid choice for the health-conscious. The chicken was tender and the vegetables were perfectly crisp. My only wish was that the entire dish had been a bit larger, as the mashed potatoes were gone in just a few spoonfuls. On reflection, while the Florentini Chicken deserves a try, I'll probably stick with pizza next time. I asked my brother how he liked his shrimp po-boy, and he had no complaints, so I'll take that as a sign he enjoyed it. Price-wise, while the costs may have risen over the years, they were not unreasonable.

On a recent trip to Galveston, it was the same. We found D'Vine Wine listed in our search and got giddy. We came up on and were as happy as pigs in...well you know. There was a guy out front playing guitar, the patio and backyard looked inviting and slightly rustic, and a decent breeze was in the air. We were ready to camp out with a bottle of wine for a little while. Until... We get inside and see the tastings are pretty pricey. Prices range depending on the type of wine you sample, but I think we paid middle of the road 2 bucks for a plastic, thimble-sized sample. We ask for the sample. The woman behind the bar pours it in the tiny plastic cup and hands it over. And stares at us. So...nothing to say about this one? Must be a real winner. And as expected, it was not very good. We then sample another*, and she pours with no description whatsoever, and we cringe as we sip on this second sample. At this point, we know we'll be moving on, but we browsed anyways as we nursed this second, tiny sample. To our astonishment, they actually have some of the priciest wine we've ever seen at a Texas winery. As we circle back to the bar area, we're greeted with the following: "So, y'all want another sample or something?" ...thanks...but no thanks! *If so bad, why the second sample? 1. We're gluttons for wine/beer/punishment. 2. You got one free sample for "liking" them on facebook. We felt guilty about wanting to leave after having just one free sample. I did not, however, feel guilty about "unliking" them later that night.
