Not to bad it's the espolon margarita ... I tell you what I didn't get that weird headache after drinking bad liquor

So far I've been here I've never had bad food or service. The espolon margarita was good and i didn't feel the effects of bad liquor

This place is really good! Came to visit family and we went here for dinner and the food was really delicious and reasonably priced. The salsas were fresh and the chips were nice and warm. The enchiladas were delicious and the perfect size. Our server was patient and answered all of our questions about the menu and was very attentive. The ambiance and decor are nice for lunch or even for a date night. I know I'll be back to visit again soon

Dined in for the first time for lunch. The host stand is in front as you walk in. We were greeted immediately. Asked specifically for a table and was placed in a round booth. Our server greeted us right away with a drink order and asked if we wanted appetizers. We went with the Trio. The queso blanco is delicious, and the guacamole and yellow chile con queso were decent. My usual go-to at any Tex-Mex are the fajitas for 1 or 2. After seeing these skillets coming out one after the other Sizzling hot, I couldn't wait to get mine. The menu is expansive and, of course, includes margaritas of many choices and lots of beer to choose, including draft. There is a huge 360 bar in the center of the space. The food comes out pretty quickly. However, there is one thing that is totally wrong. My skillet of fajitas is not sizzling??? I check the temp of the food and it is warm but not hot?? This is a big deal to me, but I did not want to make a scene of it due to guests in my party. I don't understand from a kitchen standpoint how this was allowed to go to the table, not sizzling hot? Also you are only provided 2 tortillas to make tacos. I guess I could have asked for more but would have been charged for it. The meal itself tasted good. Charro beans and rice were excellent! Overall, it is a decent place to dine and will probably return in the future.

My ahi tuna salad was amazing. Loved the freshness how big the meal was and the dressing. 10/10

My husband and I have been ordering here weekly and have always loved the food. Today I had the worst experience with a MANAGER named Maria. I placed a DoorDash order through them and my order was completely wrong and I received no chips and salsa or utensils. When I called to explain the situation Maria said "even if I wanted to help you I can't because you ordered through DoorDash" what a terrible way to handle and word the situation as a manger. We will not be back and Maria needs more training... this was my order for $80... no beans that I ordered, no chips, no way of eating it upon arrival.

On May 18th 2024, Me and Cousin's wanted some good Mexican food and delicious drinks. So, my cousin suggested Casa Julia's who lives in Baytown Tx. Our service was great and the waitress was very friendly. The ambiance was very colorful and inviting atmosphere. I'll definitely will be back!!!

Really great service! We came for the $5 Margaritas (Only on Mondays) and they put on the glass salt or tajin and let me tell you they are delicious really flavorful. We ordered the platter appetizer for $21 and to my opinion it is a little bit small, but the food really good! For dessert we ordered the tres leches cake and its so juicy and delicious! This is a must have if you come. Our server really attentive and helpful because it was our first time here and didn't know what to ordered, he game some suggestions and I'm really glad I went over what he suggest us because everything was delicious! We had a really great time here and the bathrooms are really clean. Of course this restaurant is pricey but delicious so its worth it. Will be coming back!

We were waited on by Kevin, the bartender on duty. He was super amazing and friendly. I had skinny marg and Honey had a Dr. Pepper. We missed brunch by 15 mins but that's ok. We had the white queso, (recommended by Kevin) it was soo good. We then ordered the combo lunch fajitas. It was more than plenty for the two of us to split bc I don't eat much anyway. We really enjoyed the food and ambiance. Everything came out fresh, and hot and we will be back. It was very very good!

If it wasn't for the manager on duty I would given more stars. If you don't know the Federal and State(s) law on service establishments, please look it up and familiarize yourself with the law. We went on 26th of August 2023 for dinner. We have a service dog and she was with us. The hostess and the couple of employees at the stand NEVER said anything about her. We sat down and within a couple of minutes the shift manager came over and said "no dogs are allowed". We explained she was a service dog and he again said "no dogs allowed, even service dogs and our sign in the front says that." (See picture posted and it clearly says otherwise). I told him services dogs are allowed in any establishment per State and Federal Law and he kept insisting we could not be in there and had to leave. At that point other tables starting to turn and watch and it was embarrassing. Our Server even knew the law and he said she was allowed. We asked for his manager and he said he would go call her and quickly came back asking what services she provided and wanted to know details which by law they can not ask. He left and never came back. We stayed, ordered and enjoyed each others company all the while the service dog laid on the floor and didn't move. Towards the end the owner came in for dinner. I apologized to interrupt them and explained the situation. In a way he was understanding but at the same time seemed like he didn't care. He didn't even bother coming over to our table to apologize for the incident. Very poor training especially with management.

They do have live bands so it may get loud, if that's not your thing. Now for the food... there was so much we wanted to try like the fried trio (zucchini, mushrooms, and pickles), but we chose the bacon deviled eggs and they did not disappoint! The bacon was candied and oh so good. They have a really good salad bar, and the waitress charged us for the kids portion since we were all getting meals that didn't come with a trip. Lots of good toppings to choose from. They have yummy rolls with honey cinnamon butter. My only complaint was the ranch and blue cheese was a bit too runny, and the blue cheese lacked flavor. My bonus daughter and I split the wings and the seafood platter. The wings are really good, we got hot and cherry jalapeño barbecue. The seafood platter was very good, huge portion, 6 shrimp and 2 large pieces of catfish, and the french fries were awesome. I just wish the tartar sauce tasted a little bit better. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it wasn't my favorite. My husband had the signature sirloin topped with a seafood sauce. It was really good and cooked perfectly. He got the loaded mashed potatoes, but they were very dry, they needed some cream or some butter or both. I also got a side of fried okra, I didn't care for it, not very flavorful and not crispy. My daughter got the kids cheese enchilada dinner, she didn't care for it, she said it was mostly cheese and no tortilla. The dessert menu is extensive, and it was hard to make a choice. I wanted to try the brownie bottom cheesecake, the Keylime pie cheesecake, the bourbon, pecan cheesecake, and the Texas velvet chocolate cake. My daughter and I both went for the Texas velvet chocolate cake. The waitress failed to tell me that the portion size is HUGE. Wish I'd have taken a pic! It's two huge slices of chocolate cake on top of each other. Let me tell you, though, this is one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. The cake part was moist, I hate that word, but I can't think of another word that describes it. Very flavorful and chocolatey. The icing was one of the best I've ever had, it's a chocolate buttercream and so good. We've eaten on this cake for a few days and it is not going to waste, that's for sure. I think the cake was the best part of the meal. Soooo good. My husband got the salted caramel pecan pie, it was very good. He's not a crust person, but he actually ate all the crust, it was so good. Overall, I really like cactus jacks and I would come back. The waitress was mediocre, for example, she told me they didn't have blue cheese, but they obviously did. She wasn't very attentive at the table, took awhile to get refills and we weren't able to get her to get us some butter for the mashed potatoes because she was rarely there, just a bunch of little things... She was very sweet though . The only reason why they got five stars was the chocolate cake, I think they really deserve four stars because their sides and condiments need some work. But, we will give it another try for sure.

The margarita was strong. The bartender was nice. Yesterday I stopped by for lunch. Service was good. However, I was disappointed in the food. I had the lunch fajitas, I'm not a fan of Spanish rice or refried beans. The rice was plain not seasoned. I had the cookie skillet for dessert. Ice Cream was salad as a rock. It even took forever for to melt from the heat of the cookie. Two gentlemen were sitting next to me at the bar. We was noticing how they had a few birthday celebrations that were taking place. Come to find out we both are Aries. Our birthdays are April. So one was nice of enough to pick up my tab.

They're located in downtown Galveston in a part of town that was once a red light district. Their menu is "beach drinks". That's the vibe. You can get anything from a Negroni or Old Fashioned to a Highball, French 75 and everything in between. I live for that frozen strawberry daiquiri though. The cocktail menu is extensive! Did you know they have a speakeasy tiki bar too? Funky, beachy, tiki vibe decor. Great employees. It's The Pineapple Parlor and primo! See my review on it.

It's one of the best craft cocktail destinations on the island - and with a tiki flare. It's great to see it open after almost a decade. (We went there in 2016 when it first opened for a Yelp meetup; got to meet the owner, try some cocktails, and everyone had a great time.) Happy hour is Mon all day and Tue-Fri 4-7pm with $6 cocktails. Such a deal. They now have a "speakeasy" called the Pineapple Parlor. Barkeep told us there'd be a $6 admission per person; and since the space is small, there's limited seating. We opted to stay inside the DTO area for old fashioneds and Southside ($8 gin, lemon, mint).

When we arrived, we seated ourselves outside, where there was only one other group present. Despite the patio being very small and the waitress coming in and out several times, we were never acknowledged or approached. After waiting for some time, I went inside and spoke with the owner, Adolf. He came out to our table and briefly discussed menu options with us. I asked specifically about the fish and chips, as we were told some dishes were no longer available due to an earlier rush. He said he would go check on that for me--but he never returned. Fifteen minutes later, we still had not received any service. When the waitress came back onto the patio again, I called her over and asked when we might be helped. She told me she "did not see us there," which I found difficult to believe given the size of the patio. After that interaction, she did not return to take our order. I went back inside and spoke with the owner again, this time clearly frustrated. He looked me directly in the eyes, raised both hands, and said, "You can calm down now." He repeated it in a tone that felt condescending and dismissive. I responded, "Thank you for giving me permission to calm down," and at that point, I turned around, walked out, and left with my friend to dine elsewhere. I cannot comment on the quality of the food because we were never served. I can comment on the service, which was extremely poor. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the service a zero. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to The Velvet Quarter.

These are all $17 but the bartender mentioned that they also do a happy hour until 6:30 during which cocktails are $10. I will definitely come back for this another day. We also got the Carajillo shots, a cocktail that we normally enjoy, and while they came in cute little long steamed shot glasses, and were tasty, the strength of the shot was honestly just like a tiny portion of the regular cocktail.
