I needed a cheese enchilada and decided on Luna's during this visit home. I haven't been to the new location (I'm that old) so today was a 1st. The cheese enchilada delivered everything I needed. It came out hot covered with the gravy/enchilada sauce. Yum. We ordered top shelf margaritas and I'm not sure what the bartender made. I swear to god it was apple juice. It had no taste of tequila whatsoever. I'm telling you it was apple juice. Us three adults were very confused when we tried it. At least the service and enchilada were good. I ordered my dad some food tonight. He had a hard time describing Lunas because he has dementia and sometimes his words get mixed up. So. He described it as the place where you can park and then my sister drives up a hump and pick him up. So, I said all that to say this was a challenge figuring the establishment out. I've been here many many times. He wanted beef enchiladas. I placed the order by phone to be picked up. The young lady said 20 min. I get there and they told me it wasn't ready to come back in about 10 min. So, back to the car I went. Then I go back in and they couldn't find my order. I had already paid, so the young lady couldn't find that either. I had to go back to my car and get the receipt. Then, they still couldn't find it. The manager "Lorenzo" came out to look for the order, but it wasn't there. I fixed my dad an icecream cone and brought it to the hot car. Then I went in the car to sit for a bit. Then I went back in and they still didn't have my order ready. Anyway, by the time they figured it out, I asked the young lady up front I'm surprised they didn't offer a free quest or something. They looked at me and shrugged their shoulder. We see the owner most times we are there, but Im veey disappoibted that my time wasnt worth providing something for my trouble. Always great food and drinks. Service is usually good, but sometimes it can be slow. Always walk away with smiles, relaxed and very full. Love the opportunity to enjoy the patio in seasonal weather. I enjoy coming here for certain menu items. The Carne guisada is the best bang for the buck dish in town. It's $13 and delicious. Compared to most places charging around $25, this is a deal. I think the Carne guisada tastes better than other places around town, too! Lunas has some great chips. The green sauce and red sauce are ok, nothing special. The chips are nice and crispy. The Caldo De Res is fantastic. However, at $15, it's expensive for the portion. I also really like the cheese enchiladas. The chicken enchiladas are not my favorite. The sauce that they use on them is one that I don't really enjoy. Now for the cons of Lunas and why they get 3 stars vs. 5. The service here is never great. I feel like I always have to wait a long time when I need something, and people often seem like they are in a rush if I come in about an hour before they close. Also, the free ice cream machine is almost certainly cleaned and shut down of hours before they close. Sometimes, I get excited for the ice cream cone, only for it to be shut down while I'm eating. It seems like the staff really want to leave as soon as possible. Another issue I seem to have if I show up later in the evening is that the portion size of the Carne guisada is extremely small compared to what it usually is. I suspect that they eventually run short of the beef and have to ration portions later in the day. It's about a half portion near the end of the day compared to what I normally get. This is wrong. They should .are every portion similar, and I'd they run out, take it off the menu for the night. I recommend coming to Lunas early to avoid these issues. They don't seem as welcoming in the evening. read more

Having lived in baytown for quite a while I should come to Luna's more often. It is a fairly large property with plenty of parking. The dining room is expansive and the bar area is roomy as well. Visited on a Friday night after 8 and it was busy. Checked in with the hostess and was told it was going to be a 25 min wait for me and my wife. I Told them that we would be at the bar to get a few pre dinner beverages. I got a modelo especial with limes and my other half got the frozen margarita with a coronarita. Just as I was telling the bartender to get us some chips and salsa and transfer our drinks to our table when called, our table was ready only waited 10 mins! Great start for our dinner date! Service was pretty quick got the dinner for 2 it made so much sense to get this. I believe it was $33 and it included a great selection of apps plus enchiladas and fajitas with the usual beans and rice with flour tortillas. Everything came out promptly and everything was hot and fresh! Couldn't ask for a better evening with great food and great company! I would also like to commend Luna's for providing great inexpensive family takeout meals during the pandemic. They are still available today and it is always an option for us when we are not cooking at home. Wife and I had delightful lunch at this restaurant the other day. Chips and 2?kinds of salsa were great. I had the lunch Chicken breast topped with spinach and cheese, it was very tasty. The table we were sat at still had old receipts, crumbs and residue from the previous guests, I wiped the table with a paper towel and gave it a chance that the table side service would be better. Well, it went like this...me and my husband thought we would try a new Mexican Restaurant in Baytown and landed here, but you could say we landed on Mars instead, because this food is not from here...IJS. I'm not sure what kind of oil they use to make their tortillas (I had the quesadillas), but if I tell you it taste like fish grease and smelled weird. I was extremely disappointed. It's lunch time and your restaurant is empty. Why the big rush to get me out? Either way, the house margarita is mediocre, nothing to write home to mom about. The shrimp stuffed avocado was massive but mostly breading on a normal size avocado. It was delicious tho, one of the best I've had. The waitress was attentive to me and was prompt with food and service. Honestly the best part about the whole lunch experience was the waitress. If you want cheap Tex mex with very little customer service, this is the place for you! Lunas is such a hit or miss place, and I can't figure out why. The food is not terrible, but also not good ... if that makes sense? Their menu is huge, which is hard bc there are almost too many options, so things get pumped out of the kitchen almost too fast and very sloppy ... Our entire meal was correct, however, just not good ... they have tons of fun margarita drink options, I usually get their house margarita on the rocks, and honestly, that wasn't even great this time around. We came with our family tonight (a Friday night) to relax and enjoy ourselves after a long week. We were rushed to order and ended up with mediocre food and drinks. We used to really like this restaurant but we went here tonight and it wasn't that great. I ordered the tamale dinner. It came with the tamales already out of the corn husks, no sauce or gravy served with them. They were very dry and did not seem fresh at all. I wish I had taken a picture because they looked pathetic. They were pretty bland and tasteless too. Overall it was okay, not great not bad. Parking was not bad have their own lot. The restaurant is big so getting a seat was easy. I visited about 6 on a Saturday for dinner. Service was okay not outstanding, it is best if you know Spanish when ordering. I had the beef fajita enchiladas and they were pretty good. They did have a nice flavor and was covered in the chili con caso, which was a nice touch. The chips and salsa was not bad either. So why not 4 stars; the Margarita was not good at all. I actually found this place on accident!!! For reals I was making a uturn by the Walmart and I was looking for this other place to eat and came across here. Well good thing I did it was so amazing! The whole decor was like bad ass like old school Mexico. Full service bar and the do karaoke on sundays which was pretty cool. My service was really good and they where so polite when I was greeted by the host. The food was as good as I would make at home. It was that good!
