Crawfish Beignets
HsiaoCheng W.

We were visiting Orange Pocket (again) and decided to pop in here for a late night snack. Wasn't really in the mood for a whole meal so got a couple of appetizers - the crawfish cheesebread and the crawfish beignets. They both taste pretty much like they look in the pics. Although I was told they're different, I kinda felt the filling of the beignets tasted too similar to the topping of the cheesebread, such that I'd probably opt for just one or the other next time. Staff was friendly. Outside tables were wobbly. We changed tables only to find the new table was equally as wobbly. Their menu has wings, poboys and fried seafood platters. But most people were eating boiled crawfish as one would expect. I'd probably try that if we ever come back again.

This is your neighborhood no frills crawfish boil restaurant. We went on a Monday for lunch and it was pretty busy. Skylar was our waitress and she did a great job juggling tables from inside and out on the patio like a rockstar! App was the crawfish egg rolls and they were delicious. Yummmm. Then I opted for the shrimp and grits and Im soooo glad I did. Every bite was mmm mmm good(sorry Campbell soup) lol. My bestie had a medium spiced crawfish boil and she thoroughly enjoyed it as well. This restaurant is #BarbieApproved

I've been to the Crawfish Café in the Heights many times so was confident that The Woodlands location would be equally as good. I wasn't wrong. The crawfish were fresh and well-cooked. The portions were generous, and there was a good variety of sauces and spice levels to choose from. The shrimp were plump and buttery. The catfish was crispy and the fried rice was moist and flavorful. The atmosphere is casual and lively. Service was friendly and attentive. Free parking is available in a nearby garage.

I chose the (6) fried shrimp (panko-battered and a little burnt) and (1) catfish filet (tender and blackened) platter that comes with (2) sides. The catfish and shrimp are available blackened for all the fried platters. The side of fried rice has bits of egg, green onion, bell peppers, and slim sausage half moons. It's less fried rice and more tossed hot rice mix. The side of garlic noodles comes thickly coated with garlic-butter and cheese. The yuzu tartar sauce and thick cocktail sauce are chunky and flavorful. I tried some of the crawfish and shrimp boil with lemon and Cajun seasonings. The flesh was cooked well, but the shrimp seemed a little salty. There's a washing area with (2) sinks on the way to the restrooms.

So delicious! I visited on a Friday night after a long week and what a treat this was. Upon walking in we were seated promptly. They had plenty of staff and the service flowed very smoothly. Our server was great! He made suggestions, checked on us frequently and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Each dish was a 5/5!

Food and weather was perfect. The atmosphere was the icing on the cake. But the food was seasoned to perfection.

I've been here several times now and they never disappoint. Never a long wait, service is always friendly and the food is consistently delicious! I appreciate their variety and price friendly options as well. Some of my favorite dishes are the smack bowls, fresh boiled seafood bags and newly introduced crawfish beignets. I first tried these at a festival in The Woodlands last year (thanks Yelp!), so I'm DEFINITELY glad this is a staple on the menu. Drinks are refreshing as well. It's kinda a one stop shop and I love it.

Crawfish Cafe will always be my #1draft pick for crawfish. I've been an avid follower of the restaurant ever since they opened up the first location on Bellaire (iykyk) and was stoked to see that one of my favorite places to eat opened up on the northside of town. WOOHOO! Love to see some Viet-Cajun representation. The food was delicious as always. If you're on the fence about wich flavor to get - get the grail. It's my absolute fav. For some reason I just can't help but feel the original location is always the best. Still really good regardless. The service could use some work. Our server was friendly and welcoming but the issues started further down the line. When my food came to the table, it was already kind of cold... giving the impression that it sat in the kitchen for a fat minute before being dropped off at the table. The second issue is that once the food was dropped off at the table, it was really difficult to flag down a server. It was also really discouraging to see servers almost try to avoid eye contact with us. On multiple occasions, we'd successfully flag down a server only for them to say we need to flag down our orginal server instead and then walk away.... Luckily we didn't need too much assistance, so we finished our food and went on our merry way. The food is awesome, I'd reccomend this place to anyone and everyone. If the team could work on imnproving the customer service, this place would be a 10/10.

My niece flew in from the UK and has never tried crawfish or crabs. This place came to mind because I had recently gone to an event and saw them and tried their crawfish beignets. They were sooo delicious. At the event I received two coupons that said I'd get a beignet with a $20 purchase so I brought them. As expected for a Saturday night, the place was packed, couldn't even get parking near the restaurant. The restaurant was busy but we got seated in no time because people were going and coming. Since she's just trying and we aren't sure what she'd like we got what she knew she would like which is wings and fries. Then we ordered two different boil combo. Combo 2 and 3 with addition of sausage. She liked the flavors of the sauces but one of the boils didn't have much sauce, it was too dry but our server quickly got us some when asked. We showed the coupons for the beignets and he said he'd never seen those before and would get more info from his manger which he did and brought us 6, 3 for each coupon, which was more than I expected but I appreciated because they are so good! Drinks were fine had the frozen margs and a New Orleans lemonade and diet cokes. Loved the playful paper on the table. We played tic tac toe while we waited in between meals. Kids were able to draw and color with crayons and they also had cartoons on the tvs for the kids and sports on others for adults. Music was on but it wasn't overbearing. We were able to communicate and enjoy our meal without a lot of noise even though it was a busy night.

My husband and I had date night here earlier and it was absolutely incredible. He ordered the Red Beans and Rice as well as the Salt and Pepper Wings while I had the Smack Pack. We were blown away by how delicious the salt and pepper wings were. Honestly, they might be the best wings we've ever had, EVER. Perfectly cooked, delightful crunch, and the FLAVOR was otherworldly. They were so damn good, I didn't have time to take pictures! The Smack Pack is soooooo big. Incredible value for the price. Our server was an absolute sweetheart and we cannot wait to come back!

First time visiting and the food was awesome. The rice and shrimp were very good. I recommend a little more salt and pepper to the shrimp.

I had never been to the previous address, but the interior design was so lovely we chose to sit at the new bar. Kady, the bartender (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) was such a doll the whole time waiting us. She kept the chips (touch of louisiana we enjoyed) next to her for refills and made the most twisted hurricane I've had. Definitely walked out clinging to my man lol. We tried the crawfish dip which came with two types of bread, though both went amazing with it. I ordered the lobster ravioli with a side of hush puppies and my old guy ordered the lamb chops, well done, with gumbo (we don't eat pork) and stuffed shrimp. Everything was so damn great tasting. I mean, damned good tasting. My only flaw was the roux could've been a little thinner, but that is absolutely it. Fabulous timeeee and I'm so recommending.

So they've moved. From Market Street to the space Next to one of my favorite cafes (PB)…read more Parking lot not full on an Easter Weekend. Despite a pretty empty restaurant we were told that only the bar and outside were available. And unlike many other places, they said this bar only allows 21 and older to dine in the bar area, which means only the outside for us. This being a cold (because of the wind) and cloudy morning. Sigh. Asked for a kids menu and was told it's only for 12 and under. Got the evil eye from the hostess when I said my kid qualifies. Then I offered to show them her ID and they backed off with smiles even. The complementary potato chips kind of tasted like Chips Oman. At least they weren't stale and it's a nice addition while you wait. The kiddo got the kids catfish which was just a pretty small piece of fish. Fries were good. Side fruit consisted of strawberries pineapple and red grapes. No drink included. Had to chase down the staff to get some tartar sauce. I wanted a Po Boy but was told they don't offer it on the weekends. Asked about beignets and was told it's only for dessert. Sigh. Decided to get the pork ribeye fricassee. The flavor was good but boy was it salty. Almost like they dropped a whole shaker of salt on it. Good thing there was some rice to counter the effect. Otherwise it would be inedible. So after our meal we had access to the desert menu and got a half order of beignets (4 pieces). They were ok. The dough on these is pretty thick though. Not sure if that's standard but I'd prefer light and fluffy. Soft opening was just the day before. So I think they're trying to find their stride. Water girl was on it though so kudos to her. Waiter was meh. Had to go in and fetch him a few times as they don't come outside much, especially when you're the only one out there. The bar area is small but the bartenders are nice. They have a sectioned off room in the back which might be good for a larger group. Place is kinda small overall though.

I thought this place was black owned? Who doesn't put wafers in their banana pudding?? It was just the "pudding" and 2 slices of banana. That's wild, I hope they switch their recipe up. There was also a kid running around barefoot behind the register, I'm assuming it was the family of the cashier. Not even sure if the guy that bagged my order worked there or not because he didn't have on a uniform. I specifically asked for tartar sauce and extra lemon and he gave me ranch and no lemon and didnt put the banana pudding in the bag at first. So, the fish was good and the cashier was nice but the green beans and red beans wasn't seasoned and the banana pudding was sinister. Id still give this place a 3rd chance and try something else on the menu. I would absolutely come back for the fish.

We got the fried chicken tenders with seasoned fries, the shrimp etouffee, some beans and rice, and the Bourbon Street pecan pie. Washed down with a drink from the fountain. It's difficult to get white meat chicken tenders to actually come out tender, and they didn't quite succeed here. The tenders were on the dry side. The fries were ok, ordinary fries with a little seasoning (like Tony Chachere's but I don't know if that's what they use). The shrimp etouffee was very good, and an interesting presentation. You get seven whole shrimp in the etouffee sauce with a cake of perfectly done white rice in the middle, so you can dredge the rice through the sauce with your fork. The sauce was salted exactly right and had great depth of flavor. The shrimp were done nicely with good snap. It's a great dish, easy to recommend. The beans and rice was good--had very good flavor but the beans were a bit broken. The pecan pie was a good sweet version--tasty pecan filling with a very firm, sugary crust. The interior is plain but clean and inviting. The bathrooms were clean and ready. Service is friendly and enthusiastic. They did not have barbecue when I came in, so the full experience is not quite there but they were ready with what they had. I'm rounding up to 4 stars. I would skip the fried stuff and go for the Cajun dishes.

I had a Titos vodka with soda. My husband committed, "I dont know what the bartender put in your drink?" I knew immediately! I should have returned it. I kept and drank it. My stomach hurts 15 hours later. Backstory, The Woodlands,TX, restaurants were having a lot of patrons indulging too much with drinking, so their solution was to water down drinks! I get it! It gives a bad name to the area and its hard to be in business with a bad reputation. My recommendation is to order beer or wine in any restaurants in The Woodlands area. When I arrived, it was not busy at all, so I walked right in and met her at the bar. She had already ordered our drinks, which I appreciated. She got the Purple Voodoo. Even though it is no longer on the menu, they still made it for her, and she said it tasted the same. I ordered my usual Long Island iced tea, and listen, that thing was made to perfection. Not too sweet, not too dark, just the right balance. Whoever made it knew exactly what they were doing. The ambiance was really nice. It was calm with low lighting and good music playing in the background. It was not too loud, just enough to set the mood without interrupting conversation. It was not crowded, but there were a few people in there enjoying dinner and drinks. It made for a really laid back, after work, midweek dinner vibe. For food, she ordered the blackened catfish with red beans and rice, and I went with fried shrimp, a baked potato, and a Caesar salad. The food came out pretty quickly. Now let's talk about the food. The Caesar salad was amazing. It was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together. I asked for extra croutons and extra dressing, and while I did not need the extra dressing, I definitely needed those croutons. That salad alone could have been my whole meal with some grilled shrimp or salmon added. The baked potato was really good. It was large, filling, and loaded with butter and cheese. My only critique is that the cheese was not melted. It was more like layered on top in ribbons. If they had warmed it just a bit to melt the cheese, it would have taken it up another level visually and in texture. Now the shrimp. It looked good, but it did not deliver. The breading did not do it for me, and it tasted pretty bland, like it was missing seasoning. Especially compared to how well seasoned and perfectly blackened my friend's catfish looked, the shrimp just did not measure up. That was definitely the miss of the meal for me. I did not taste the catfish, but it looked incredible. It was beautifully plated and a generous portion. My friend ate more than half and took the rest home, which says a lot. Service was exceptional. Attentive, friendly, and smooth from start to finish. Overall, I would give it an 8.5 out of 10. The drinks, service, ambiance, and that Caesar salad carried the experience, but I would skip the shrimp next time.
